Fear is an emotion that is caused by the perceived danger or threat occurring. Facing your fears can be very scary, but it can also be an exciting experience. Eventually, everyone will face their fear, whether it was fear of height, or fear of small spaces, or even fear of clowns. One of the most hesitant yet scary thing I did was facing one of my biggest fears, swimming.
To start off, I didn’t always have a fear of swimming, it wasn’t until I was 5 years old when it started. My family and I were at the neighborhood community pool, people with their friends or family in the pool with the water glistening due to the reflection of the sun. We were standing by the pool, when my older brother decided that it would be humorous to steal my bright

Upon arriving at the pool, I was very nervous, and usually when I am, I’m always fidgeting with my hands, or I ramble endlessly about something. That day, I did both. Not wanting to be late, I quickly change in the locker room and rushed out. I stood patiently by the side of the pool with the other girls around my ages and started a conversation. After introducing ourselves, we had gotten to know each others and to be quite honest, they were really nice and friendly, which make me feel so much less nervous. They were saying that they didn’t know how to swim which makes me feel at ease because I didn’t want embarrass myself. When the coach came over with a huge smile, she introduce herself and told us to start out by doing some stretches and then to gather by the pool in a single line. When everyone was finish. We got into the pool one at a time and I was very hesitant when I was told to get into water, but I realized I eventually need to overcome this fear, rather sooner than later. First thing coach taught us was the ability to float, which wasn't easy for me but I was able to do it. After that, she gave us a kickboard to help us practice our kicks, while some were struggling, I actually got it. Lastly she told us to do a lap with the kickboard, in my opinions it was the best part of practice that day. After practice, my mom and the other girls parents decided

Fear is an emotion that makes you feel afraid or something is frighten. The first practice was at 5 a.m. and the night before I couldn't sleep. My mind would keep wondering what would happen, was I supposed to be wearing my bathing suit, what were my teammates going to be like. When it came time to go to practice I was shaking the whole way. Soon after I learned that my fears should have not been focused on such silly things now. If anything swim really helped me face them head on. With so much change going with swim I got used to this fear. My family and friends were also a great succor. Even though they probably didn't know that it was helping me. I'm very grateful to my father supporting anything I wanted to
Fear is something that comes about due to the potential of harm. Harm may take on many forms, whether physical, emotional, financial, or other. Should a person feel their body, their mind, or their bank account to be threatened, they may experience fear. Fear is a reaction to a perceived threat, and may in fact be a valuable element of human emotion. Fear notifies an individual of the potential of harm, encouraging them to proceed with caution to prevent the harm from being realized. Fear can be both ...
What fear is. Fear is the reply to when someone is intimidated by something that 's immediately going to harm their well-being. For example, a dog barking at a person and chasing them down the street. That person would feel dread, which would then give them the desire to protect themselves. In a fear situation, that desire turns into the fight or flight response. We either fight off the danger or we run and hide from it (Lamia). This response is considered a fear response because of the quickness of the reaction time; it happens immediately after the danger is sensed.
Webster defines fear as “an unpleasant, often strong emotion caused by expectation or awareness of danger”. Fear is unavoidable, and it is an inclination that everyone possesses; from a small child to an elderly man and every human in between. There are myriad fears that may develop over a lifetime, but all fears are an innate response to perceived danger. When a danger is perceived the human body responds to protect itself and the consequences of the body’s response are what make people hate being scared. Fear can transform into a controlling factor in people’s lives as they experience fear continually making them feel overwhelmed and anxious, so they begin to avoid it altogether and start to miss out on life.
Fear influences people to make irrational decisions and take extreme measures. Often times, these actions are done to protect one’s reputation. Fear causes people to lie and manipulate to those they care about in order to escape what they are scared of most. Fear of failure has caused higher levels of anxiety, and has made society put blame on each other, rather than owning up to their mistakes. Fear can also cause one to forget one’s true identity and lose one’s values. There are two options that one can take when being faced with a fear: run away from the fear, or go through it and learn a valuable lesson in the end that will make you a stronger person. Fear is a harmful emotion that everyone has to go through in order to succeed.
Fear can be caused by many different things and can be a result of different situations. “Fear is a primary emotion. It is an evolved and adaptive physiological response that occurs automatically in response to particular
The word fear makes my mind draw a blank. I am trying to make sense of it but I can not, at least not for everyone. It is a word that is left up to a person’s digression. It almost seems unfair to have a clear cookie-cutter definition of what it is. The word is too broad to be sectioned off by one definition.
Fear is an everyday emotion that the human race must face, and it can bring out the best and worst of us, but its how we choose to deal with it that truly defines us.
Fear is an emotion that can control our everyday thoughts and actions. Fear keeps people from
So we all headed to the pool. To go to the deep end, I had to take a swim test. I didn’t want to take a swim test in the first place, but I had to. When I swam across the pool I did well. It was treading water that I knew I couldn’t do.
It was finally time to swim. I finally came up with a plan and decided to swim in the deep side of the pool even though I didn’t know how to swim. I knew it would work but I was also scared. As I walked to the swimming pool, everyone laughed at me again for wearing a speedo. I dived into the deep side of the pool and noticed everyone was staring at me in amazement. Then I swam up and hung onto the side of the pool. Everyone was shocked and puzzled. Even the girl I liked looked surprised.
Fear is a human emotion everyone dislikes. Fear is in every person with no exception. It can be difficult problem to solve. We can overcome our fears by challenging ourselves by analyzing fear and developing a growth mindset.
Swimming has been my whole life, since I jumped into the pool for the very first time. I loved every aspect of swimming from the adrenaline running through my body during my races and getting to spend even more time with my friends and my sister, and the stress of big meets coming up in the schedule. Except everything didn't go according to plan after the first day of school when I got home and I saw my parents sitting by my sister on the coach and my sister was crying.
Fear is the reason why students are writing an essay for a class. Fear is the anxiety of receiving a failing mark to a final exam that we never show to our parents. Fear is the uneasiness that we feel when our parents learn about a stupid thing that could make them disappointed. Fear is the inability to walk to a dark corridor after watching a horror movie. Fear is the negative state of mind that hinders us from doing anything. These are how we usually describe fear, danger, and suffering, the feeling of uneasiness that overwhelms our body. Understanding the true nature of fear gives us purpose and motivation to do better.
