It was this summer when 12 other people and I were going to the Florida Keys. We all spent the night at a hotel, the next morning everyone wanted to go swimming at the pool. I wanted to go too, but little did I know I would have to do something I knew I shouldn’t have. So we all headed to the pool. To go to the deep end, I had to take a swim test. I didn’t want to take a swim test in the first place, but I had to. When I swam across the pool I did well. It was treading water that I knew I couldn’t do. I hesitantly go in and treaded for about 30 seconds out of a minute. I didn’t finish because I knew trouble was going to happen, I already couldn’t stand up. After that the lifeguard just left me in the water, and I started going under. The
other girls saw me. The life guard through in a red life saver after I almost choked on water. However, I didn’t see it, so I ended up saving myself and half swam to the shallow end. To add on to that no one asked if I was ok. Until this day I can barely swim and don’t take anymore swim tests or go deeper than 5 feet.

The longest I’ve ever lived in one place was the nine years that my family and I lived in
This past summer, my family and I went on a cruise to the Bahamas. We had just docked at the second port, Nassau, and were preparing to exit the gigantic ship named the Carnival Fantasy. Once we got to the city, I noticed it was bustling with people of all different backgrounds and cultures. The roads were narrow and some even hilly. I remember coming to the conclusion that a lot of people in the Bahamas must have road rage what from the blaring car horns I could hear around every corner. My family and I were walking along the sidewalk, glancing into shops as we passed them. The weather was unbearably hot, but growing up in South Carolina allowed my family and I to push onward with our adventure. The sun burn on my back started to pulsate in pain any time the sunlight hit it, so we decided to stick to the side of the buildings that provided shade.
The day of my grandparents had told me they have been wanting to go to the Florida Keys and asked if I would like to join. So of course i wanted to go. Oh and when they told me i could bring a friend along i was jumping with happiness inside. They told me we would be going for a couple weeks and they had all expenses covered. So that day I started talking to Jamie and asking her when she would be back, because at that time she was in Florida visiting family. She had told me she would be back . So i asked her is she would like to join me and take a trip to the Keys with me. I could tell she was so excited when i asked her because she texted me back all in caps and said “CALL ME”. So i called her to let her know all of the details. So she ended up getting back .So when she got back from Florida we went to Walmart and bought a lot of
Without delay, I sunk right back in the water. My doubts began coming back to me, making me realize I might of been over my head on this one, but I persisted. I reached surface again and began swimming towards the rightmost shore. It wasn’t the best journey, as I kept bobbing in and out of the water, but I managed to reach the shore. The moment I got stood back on my own feet I stood back on them as a new man; I enjoyed the danger I just experienced, besides drinking a hefty amount of lake
...The lifeguard yelled, "Keep your hands and your feet together." I sat down on the edge at the very top of the slide, he gave me a hard, fast push and I was off.
When the end of my 5th grade year had hit; A land mark of the most traumatizing event of my life was about to take place. My mom had left my father and took us along with her. Over the summer and a few addit...

end of the pool I ran and jumped into the pool. Straight to the bottom I went.
Moreover, during a summer vacation with family and a co-worker, I decided to face my fears and learn to swim at a local pool. I approached the pool
There was a crowd in a pool full of water, full of the laughs of joyful men and children. They huffed and grunted and shoved, water splashing. It’s like the Water Ragging Park came to life, and I remember in a matter of minutes I have been pulled into the deep water, and I was gasping for breath. I was convinced that the water would engulf my body, and I might die under the water. During that time, I heard a voice, “You can do it.”
A near drowning accident at the age of 8 taught me to always keep the faith in challenging times. I can still remember the feeling of helplessness that overcame me as I watched my cousin drown. Being a nonswimmer myself, I watched as each gasp for breath became his last. Consequently, having witnessed that tragic event marked the beginning of my personal pursuit to become a swimmer. It would be the following summer that I too came face to face with drowning.
Anxiety took over my body as I prepared to jump. The 80 foot waterfall looming atop Turner Falls seemed to be challenging me, beckoning me to come and attempt to plunge from the rock into the waterfall to try to endure the pressure as the water knocked me straight down into the deep waters and jagged rocks which awaited below. I waited with an eager excitement thinking that if I could take this plunge, I would really be able to swim with those I saw as the "big fish." Waiting on that rock I had no idea that the events following my wait would change that jump from being something I so much desired into something I would be grateful to never personally experience.
Have you ever decided to do something different that you would not normally do? Have you ever tried something new? I had never imagined myself competitively swimming. It was so different from anything I had ever done before, but trying it was the best decision I could ever make.
