The journal “The Failed Graduate” by Dr. Sakui W. G. Malakpa is about a young boy named Kaapai who faces academic struggles and his parents wanting him to take a certain career path. Kaapi did not excel in academics, his siblings and his parents were ashamed. He much rather have a career in music and dance. Struggling with school, he decided to leave school, which he thought was best for him. After he decided to leave school, he became a night watchman, which during that time he would write poetry and make music. He soon became wealthy and his family came to visit him after finding out. After his family shows up, he confronts them about their lack of support, but later on forgives them. His family now supports his talents and appreciates it. …show more content…

Sakui W. G. Malakpa. One positive with this journal is the themes and meaning of it. This journal is very inspiring and powerful to the readers because it teaches the readers to never give up on a dream and to keep moving. In this journal, Kaapai is struggling in school because he aspires to be in a career in music and dance. Kaapai, even though his parents were hard on him and did not understand, kept trying for his dream which will inspire the readers. Dr. Malakpa writes this to help encourage the reader to keep moving through the challenges and that they can do anything they put their mind on. This journal raises important questions for the teacher to think about struggling students in the classroom and how they can help these students. This journal also has a couple weaknesses with the positives throughout the story.. One weakness that was found in the journal is there are some awkward phrasing and dense words that can be distracting to the reader. The writing style may be confusing to some of the readers. When reading this article, there were a couple words and complicated phrases that were a bit confusing. There are some words that some of the readers may not understand which can make the journal hard to
