The Eye Opening Experience of Research and Writing in Information Technology
As a middle school math teacher, my professional writing is limited almost to none except for some grants writing. That is usually in an application format. Reading through the learning resources, I was able to see the amount of resources that are now available at our fingertips for a better writing experience compared to when I was in school years ago. At first glance this assignment seemed overwhelming because of my lack of writing skill. I understand the relevance of the assignment and the learning resources are laid out easily to find any help needed.

There were several different options. Keeping my location in mind, my first resources would be the university online library. There are services available if I did not live, work, or attend classes near the campus or one of the courier delivery locations. I could be eligible for home/office delivery of library materials. There are also Interlibrary Loans where a request for books, articles, and other items not available in the library’s collections/databases with a interlibrary loan service. These library databases can be accessed with a campus login. Within the databases, I am able get assistance finding, evaluating, or citing materials. When paraphrasing from a source, I would be reiterate the source’s ideas in my own words and offer more detail. Whereas a summary offers a shorter more condensed overview of the original. Taking into account the reason for the assigned text and determine what type of text I am dealing with, I would determine what my audience needs to know. I would then need to browse the text and pay close attention to the subheadings and put the text into sections. Begin reading the text, take notes and highlight relevant information. Then in my own words, provide my readers with a condensed version of the author’s key points. A summary can be as short as a few sentences or much longer, depending on the complexity of the text and the level of detail I want to
