Today I would like to present you The Electronic Viking Fest by justifying the style and format of the event, discussing the most appropriate location, identifying the target segmentation and operational issues. In addition to this, I will point out our SMART short, medium and long-term objectives.
1. Justify the style and format of their event
The Electronic Viking Fest is a celebration of Scandinavian cultures from ancient times to today. The smell of tar, wood and fire where the lamb and chicken slow roast are the foundations of the festival’s atmosphere. Décor such as Nordic flags; Viking ships, shields and consistency in punter’s outfits are additional essential elements in the formation of the event’s style.
The concept will feature

From Abbey it borrows sort of the style, Oktoberfest the format and the Toga Party the idea of budget costumes. What all events have in common is their focus on the theme and not as much on the performing acts. Participants attend these events because of the atmosphere and the experiential nature.
Unique selling proposition (separate slide, dot points)
Nonetheless, The Electronic Viking Fest has a concept that’s one of a kind. The festival will offer punters an entire new experience in regards to beer, wine, food and entertainment. The handcraft beer and wine (originally called Mead) will be made from Swedish recipes. It can be consumed from Viking drinking horns and it cannot be found anywhere else in Australia. The dress code is inspired from the popular image of strapping Vikings (women and men) in horned helmets. Which are actually a stereotype and a myth. But we all like a good story, right?

Identify their target audience and outline marketing strategies
Trending TV-series and movies like Asterix and the Vikings (2006), Thor (2011) and Vikings (2013) have shaped today’s great interest of the Viking concept. For example, I grew up with the Asterix and Obelix series, which I have positive memories from, whereas, Thor and Vikings captures today’s adult viewers between 18-49.
The Electronic Viking Fest will attract demographics from diverse cultural backgrounds due to the target segment aspiration to explore and experience new concepts. Nevertheless, the primary target audience is visitors and students from the Nordic region (Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland and Iceland), which also is Australia’s fifteenth largest inbound market for arrivals. Research also found that 50% of the Nordic region visitors are between 18-34 years olds. This event is neither limited to age nor to a geographical region; The Electronic Viking Fest has the ability to attract consumers from the Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast due to the large population of Scandinavian people
Over the years, the Calle Ocho festival has brought hundreds of smiles to thousands of people. Behind the smiles, the laughter, and the dances, there is a serious side to the festivities. In the beginning, Willy Bermello just wanted a little backyard get-together that would bring neighbors closer, but the festival turned into something much, much bigger. With the festival's growth and inevitable commercialization, Bermello increasingly felt that its importance was being forgotten. He wanted to let people know this was more than just a big party. He wanted people of different races and different ethnicities to be able to feel comfortable with each other, and not just for one day. He wanted Calle Ocho's influence felt throughout the year.
You can see that, why New Orleans is called Festival capital of USA. Though all the festival are for your enjoyment, but some of them are very popular. They are –
Leif Erikson’s grandfather, Thorvald Asvaldsson slaughtered a man in Jæren, Norway in 960 CE. This was the age of the Vikings, but Thorvald was still banished from the land (Mandia, n.d.). So he brought his ten year old son Erik, later to be named as Erik the Red because of his scarlet hair, to Drangar in northwestern Iceland on a farm with rather appalling soil (Where is Vinland?, n.d.).
It goes on every year. Two million (and more) go to it each year. People go to it to see/meet their favorite people. Not just for bands. Bands, Interviewers, photographers, etc.
... World. The Festival includes narrative and documentary features and shorts, animation, midnight movies, and a full array of educational forums, attractive parties, and other special events.
This book is a very important primary source for historians because it contains the only primary source concerning the Vikings before they converted to Islam, and many other accounts of important information including Viking raids. The book shows how the Eastern Vikings lived and how the Muslim world interacted with them. It also gives insight into the state of Islam in the tenth through twelfth century. Almost all of the information is this book is relevant to historians and the eye witness accounts are very useful concerning the people and places in this time period.

Typically, the image of a Viking is a barbaric, bearded man plundering and destroying a neighboring village. This is actually the stereotypical viewpoint. In actuality, Vikings, have a very different image. For example, Vikings did not wear furry boots or furry armor, they did not have horned helmets, they invaded Britain, and they also were the first to discover America! They were also experts in nautical technology, crafts, trading, warfare and many other skills (Jonsson 1). With all of these traits, the Vikings seem like an unstoppable force in the European continent. But, who were the Vikings? The Vikings were actually venturesome seafarers. This means that they were travelers who were constantly exploring and looking for new areas of land. There roots can be traced all the way back to 6000 B.C. were nomadic men traveled in primitive crafts up the Denmark coast. Fast forward two millennia and these nomadic people have established permanent homes, but still using the boat for food and travel. As stated before, they were not just raiders, although they did do this frequently, but they were actually expert traders, trading all around the world. It wasn’t until around 793 A.D. that a Viking explosion took place in northern Europe (Jonsson 2). Raids began to take place on neighboring villages and their places of worship. To some this is the only type of knowledge they have about Vikings. However, their culture was something to be admired. Trading, religion, and everyday life are all important parts of a Viking culture.
Scissors, Paper, Rock! For my first cultural event, I attended the University Performing Dancers rendition of “Scissors, Paper, Rock!”. This dance performance took place in University Hall here on campus. This performance is considered a cultural event because the game Rock, Paper, Scissors is an ancient game that many different cultures have claimed to invented.

Given, the current high profile debate with regard to dating the epic poem Beowulf, it is quite surprising that some scholars go as far as placing it during the Vendel era around 550 - 793 CE. Even though it is considered as a kind of folk tale, many are those who believe it happened towards the early Vendel era. As a rebuttal to this point, it might be convincingly argued that this period is also referred to as the Germanic Iron Age. Moreover, this era saw the rise of Norse mythology, which is very fatalistic in nature; it focuses on a world coming to an end in a great cataclysm. Along with this fatalism comes the willingness to die. That is why warriors would go to fight in battles and combats. Surprisingly enough, not only the heroes die but also so do the Gods. Therefore, the central value of this culture is glory and heroism.
Nevertheless, one of the most important constants among all of us, regardless of our differences, is that, above all, we are buyers. We use or consume on a regular basis food, clothing, shelter, transportation, education, equipment, vacations, necessities, luxuries, services, and even ideas. As consumers, we play an essential role in the health of the economy; local, national and international. The purchase decision we make affect the requirement for basic raw materials, for transportation, for production, for banking; they affect the employment of employees and the growth of resources, the successfulness of some industries and the failure of others. In order to be successful in any business and specifically in today’s dynamic and rapidly evolving marketplace, marketers need to know everything they can about consumers; what they are want, what they are think, how they are work, how they are spend their leisure time. They have to find out the personal and group influences that affect consumer decisions and how these decisions are made. In these days of ever-widening media choices, they need to not only identify their target audiences, but they have to know where and how to reach
