Can you believe 80% of the Debris in the ocean comes from land and the other 20% comes from recreational boaters which is causing the ghost fishing that is when boats leave a net

on accident and it catches fish and turtles and drown them. The Great Pacific Patch is also known as the trash superhighway. What cause this to happen, other than human is because the north pacific subtropical gyre and the South pacific subtropical gyre are rubbing against each other causing the trash in the currents to make its way up to the Northern pacific. It may take the debris several years to reach the trash galaxy depending on where it starts from.it can even come from rivers like the Nile or Mississippi.
What goes on at water treatment plants?

When the water goes there it’s filled with all nasty things like dead animals and rocks this is called screening. Next comes the pumping, treatment plants relies on the power of gravity to have the sewage make its way from your house to the plant. After that comes aerating it’s when the “expose and shake” happens. Expose is when the water is exposed to air so all the nasty tasting gasses will leave as the water as the water sits out its being shaken back and forth to help release the gasses. Next in this same process they would put the water into two parallel concrete tanks. The first tank is where they rejuvenated the oxygen in the water because the organic decaying things pull all the oxygen out of the water. Next is removing the sludge, the sludge sinks to the bottom inside of the second tank. After that is the removing scum process as the sludge settles at the bottom of the tank the scum rises. Scum includes grease, oils, soap and plastic then slow rakes pull the scum off the surface.

...de recycling. Did you know that consumers pay more for recycled white glass than recycled colored glass? Did you know that the price of plastic is more than the price of coal? At the waste management plant they separates the recycled things even more so they can get there maximum value. Recycling is becoming a big business and it starts with you recycling.
Conclusion

I hope from reading this you learned a little more than when you started reading. You should know how important waste management is to you and me also who recycles, what country produces the most waste, what does the treatment plant do, and what is the Great Pacific
Patch. If you want to help your community join or send you unwanted recyclables to alley/curb pick-up service, buy reused and recycled products, drop-off recycling locations, and household hazardous waste-reduce reuse recycle.
