Sexism has been a social problem for both men and women but the focus has been directed solely on women the reason being, the nature of women which tend to more vulnerable and men regarded as naturally aggressive. Decades ago, married women were labeled as a house wife which meant, the responsibility of a married women were to stay at home and take care of the house chores and children while the men went to work to feed the family. Unfortunately for some women, some men take that as an opportunity to abuse their wives because they see them as inferior and that, the woman must be submissive to his every demand. Throughout history, it is clear that men are usually seen to be advantaged by the logic of domination while females tend to be disadvantaged. Whether it be in the workplace, household, or even the bible men have always been inferior to women. Through history, cultural norms and stereotypes gender roles were created and have been present throughout society. Although it is believed that males are more advantaged than females the texts Eve and Adam: Genesis 2-3 Reread by Phyllis Trible and The Creation and Fall of Man and Woman explain how men and woman are in fact equal and maybe even disadvantaged by these cultural arrangements. As a female, I have certainly been adversely affected by sexism. I trust that females are adversely affected by sexism ordinary because of what we see, particularly in the media. Consistently, we are overwhelmed with messages in regards to weight, good looks and being the "perfect, impeccable, women." Although messages that are pitched at us are not sensibly genuine and some of the time about difficult to achieve, despite everything they impact us. Looking at TV, most of the advertisements that play are either about losing weight, foods low in fat, or attractive, petite models strutting their stuff around the TV screen. This relates a great deal to what Abra Fortune Chernik says in her piece called "The Body Politic." Chernik (2010) which quotes

Wente’s intent is to persuade their readers into believing that men have become a scapegoat for society yet women could learn lessons from men. Although Wente does have a clear purpose in explaining what women could learn from men, her argument is weakened by her lack of substantial evidence and her appeal to emotions being manipulative.

Sexism or discrimination based on gender has been a social issue for many years; it is the ideology that one sex is superior or inferior to the other. Sexism does not only affect females, but also males. Men are very often victimized by social stereotypes and norms based on gender expectations. Sexism has appears in almost all social institutions including family, the media, religion, sports, the military, politics, and the government. Women are faced with extreme pressure and alienation in their career fields, and on average earn less than men. Men, on the other hand, face similar pressure, while underachieving compared to women academically, and facing more dangerous occupations. Clearly, this system benefits no one. Michael Kimmel illustrates this point in “A black woman took my job': Michael Kimmel argues that it is in men's interest to work for gender equality.” The title itself emphasizes how the fight for gender equality will benefit both genders. He discusses how sexism is harming men by narrowing their worldview (2). Slaughter, Ullman, Kaplan, Dorment, Knestaut, and Miller all agree with Kimmel to some extent. They all agree gender equality does not exist. When all these perspectives are brought together, it becomes clear that it is in the best interest of both genders that the fight for equality is still pursued. 1. My result for hostile sexism was between zero and one, while my score for benevolent sexism was between one and two. My scores were closest to the average female and male in England and Australia for benevolent sexism. However, my hostile sexism was very low compared to all the countries that were listed. My scores surprised me, because I did not expect my benevolent sexism score to be closest to England or Australia. More simply, I did not expect other females and males to have similar scores, so the graphs were shocking. My results were furthest from Cuba, Nigeria, and Syria. My scores for hostile and benevolent sexism were very low compared to average women and men in Nigeria, Syria, and Cuba. Michael Levin, a professor of philosophy and author of the book Feminism and Freedom, faults feminism for trying to impose an inappropriate equality on men and women that conflicts basic biological differences between the sexes (Levin, Taking Sides, 42). Women are not the same as men, neither physically nor psychologically. In the past, men tended to be the stronger more powerful gender, while women have traditionally been viewed as the weaker, more feeble one. The untrue assumption that men and women are the same in their ways of thinking and physical capabilities leads to the failure of the feminist message. Their agenda of eliminating all observable differences between men and women is doomed to fail and will inflict more pain than gain in the process. Recognizing the differences between the sexes and allowing each to do what they are strongest at will in the long run make society stronger, more efficient, and more effective.
Research teams suggest that women are a threat to society with their potential power to override men, so they must follow cultural traditions. Men see authoritative women as a critical threat to their masculinity. Additionally, some women have not proved themselves as wise and effective. Webster University graduates and active researchers in women's rights, Muneera Al-Khalifa and Noona Al-Khalifa, think men often feel superior to women because they know more about being head of household and women do not have any experience (Al-Khalifa 1). Perhaps this reveals men believe women need more experience in powerful positions, which is what many women are fighting for.
