Two years in the making, countless hours of songwriting, guitar tracking, recording, then multiple lawsuits by record companies and the end result is the masterpiece that is A Day To Remember’s Common Courtesy album. To most people, the entire genre of metal, hardcore, or punk music is all just one big idea of devil worshipping and ignorance, these misconceptions are so false it’s almost unfair. The detail and progression of the music in these genres is so advanced that it is devastating to musicians that most people don’t consider it music. A Day To Remember is the pinnacle of what melodic hardcore, or “pop-mosh” music is, they are the best musicians and make the biggest impact on the scene and the world. In a world that only focuses on what Miley Cyrus is doing and in a genre that is mainly only heard by angry heartbroken teenagers, ADTR has been able to solidify themselves into the musical world and that is what makes their new album “Common Courtesy” an iconic part of hardcore music.
The 12th track on the album is “The Document Speaks For Itself,” this song embodies everything that A Day To Remember is and it blends everything they’ve done with previous records, it is musical genius. Being a hardcore band, the instrumentation includes two guitars, a lead and a rhythm, a bass guitar, drums, and two kinds of vocals, clean singing and a “death growl” scream. What makes this particular song so unique is that it is a balance of everything the band tries to do with making songs, it mixes their heavy side with a melodic chorus. The song “The Document Speaks For Itself” sums up everything that ADTR sounds like, stands for, and is proof that they are able to capture the dream of making it in the music industry despite so many hardships.

I have always said the only thing I miss of a past girlfriend is her collection of Barenaked Ladies albums. After recreating her collection for myself, I learned that a new album was on the way. Maroon -- the band's sixth album is filled with 12 brand new songs with enough quirkiness and pop that will forever be the marks of the Barenaked Ladies (BNL). To my surprise Don Was, a Grammy Award winning producer whose name was also on my B-52's and Rolling Stones albums, produced this album. This pop-infused CD displays the BNL's signature of happy, jangly, tunes filled with sarcasm, irony, truth and passion embedded into every song that brings out old memories to everyone.
The night was young times were crazy and it was only the beginning of my senior year. It was still warm out and it still felt like summer; we didn’t know that we could have this much fun in one night, but we knew we were going to have fun no matter what. My first concert had to be one of the best nights of my life and one of my most favorite nights of my life during my senior year. It all began when my buddy Alex Kramper decided to give me a phone call and wanted to know if I wanted to go to an Imagine Dragons concert at the Verizon Wireless Amplifier Theater for only twenty bucks, I responded with a hell yeah, the concert was only in a weak. So we figure everything out and and figure that Alex Kramper, Tori Main, Trevor Waller, Kristen Kesler, and me are going to the concert, the next day we meet at Alex’s house to all ride in the concert together in Trevor’s truck, it was a planned booze cruise threw St.Louis. The second song on the album, “Two Step”, is about Dave needing a break from his busy lifestyle and going to the woman he loves and she "drives me to distraction". She comes to him when he has "grown tired of water all the time" and she is the wine that will quench his thirst (Lyrics). He needs a change and she gives it to him making him realize that he should celebrate life more.
The nineties were an exceptional decade for music which, unfortunately, has not been reprised to this day. The formerly mentioned decade witnessed the emergence of alternative rock music as an outlet for those who were saturated by the excesses that characterized the eighties and the lack of substance of some of its music. Accordingly, during the nineties, music audiences began to value talent over appearance, catchy rhythms, meaningless lyrics, and flashy choreographies. Moreover, throughout this time, music was conceived as a means to inspire and move listeners, rather than a mere tool for product placement. Thus, the nineties gave birth to a phenomenal musical genre that has yet to be surpassed since it created a deep connection with the afflicted souls of a generation, valued music’s inspirational quality over intricate musical arrangements, and introduced the world to a plethora of invaluable artists for whom music was their utmost priority.
True to the mysterious character of their name, Midnight Voices opens the album with a curious chant titled “If You Knew Us.” Beginning with a gradual fade-in, the group chants the puzzling phrase “If you knew us, then uh . . .” repeatedly and without any musical accompaniment. A steady rhythm is maintained throughout, even when the Voices modify their chant by including their names. After the chant is repeated a few more times, the group throws in yet another mysterious line, which further heightens the listener’s curiosity. The line, “If you knew the voices, then uh . . . you would know the world and uh . . .” provides a hint to the listener of the social commentary to come. The chant then returns to its first verse, and slowly fades out. This short piece serves as an introduction to both the group and the general message of their music and album.
Heavy metal music has developed greatly ever since it was created in the late 1960’s, evolving into large and varied categories of subgenres. It is not uncommon for types of metal to be confused for one another despite their distinct differences. There are hundreds of subgenres, but three of them will be discussed, the bluesy and distorted doom metal, the fast and fantastical power metal, and the ill reputed black metal.

Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, two french men, have been friends since their teenage years, and were once in a band called “Darlin’” with Laurent Brancowitz – guitarist of the French band, Phoenix – before forming Daft Punk. The band finally got a name when an English man who heard their performance said their music was a bunch of “daft punky trash.” In 1993, the band's first single called “The New Wave” was released; it was then edited again and re-released as “Alive”, which became very popular in the EDM (electronic dance music) scene. With their first album, Homework, came popularity. The two had never wanted to be in the public eye; they always wore some sort of mask in interviews, photo shoots, and concerts - they even went so far as to put black bags over their heads in an interview in Iceland (Icelandic ‘Bagged’ interview with Daft Punk).

The Constitution was written in the eighteenth century where ideas, concepts and words may seem outdated to us. We will begin by looking at the Preamble of the Constitution.
Over the past ten years or so, music has been the scapegoat to many murders, acts of violence, and sexual abuse for many years now. Many cases have now opened with the introduction of Death Metal to music world. Since many murders are now rampant within young children and teenagers, there must be someone to blame for them. One example is in 1995 the Death Metal band Slayer was blamed for encouraging Royce Casery, Joseph Fiorella, and Jacob Delashmutt to torture and kill Elyse Pahler, 15-years-old. The parents of Pahler blame the disgusting lyrics of Slayer to the crime. The three boys, all fans of Slayer and bands of their stature, were all found guilty and are still serving time in jail. The Pahler’s tried suing both the band, and the record companies for making these albums available to young teens. However, the courts threw out all the accusations against Slayer and the record companies, with right cause. The music didn’t kill their daughter, the three boys did and are now serving their time (Horn, 1). Another case noted, 17-year-old Jay Fieldon Howell was arrested for stabbing a girl in the neck. It was New Year’s Eve. Often during so, the clubs and bars would be brimming with youth and underage teenagers waiting to count down to New Year’s Day. However, I spent my New Year’s Eve in the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California. The sports arena was mostly crowded with middle aged adults and everyone was there not to watch a game, but to bid farewell to a legendary hair metal band, Mötley Crüe. The band’s career spanned three decades and they ended it all at the birthplace of hair metal - Los Angeles, California. I really enjoyed the show because even though the band has aged staggeringly, they managed to maintain the elements of a hair metal concert – face-melting guitar solos, pyrotechnics, female dancers in skimpy clothing, and to

Metal music, which is mostly referred to as “Metal” is a very popular genre of rock music, though not the dominant genre in the modern world. Originating mainly in the United States of America and the United Kingdom in 1950’s, it developed and gained popularity in the next decade only. It is one of the most prominent genre in the music industry that has also influenced other genres, with its style, even in modern music.
The Gorillaz’s 2005 critically acclaimed album Demon Days provided a much greater purpose to the up and coming generation than society had preconceived; it was much more than just rebellious, auto tuned album for teens to high with. The album’s true focus was to discuss the interplay of conformity and resistance in the face of oppression. The Gorillaz were on a mission to make the new generation’s voice heard over the injustice they were confronted with: racism, violence, loss of faith (specifically the loss of faith in religion) and the strive to restore the peace and innocence there once was in the world.
