The development of innovative products always arises from different steps and procedures. One of these procedures is ideation. What is ideation? The term ideation could be elucidated as the process of relating and forming new ideas by conceiving, generating, and implementing them (ideas). It is crucial to point out that it comprises of a several stages of intellectual cycles such as innovation, development, and actualization. According to (Cooper and Edgett, 2008), brainstorming is one of the best techniques of ideation because it provides a variety of ideas. Furthermore, brainstorming allows an individual to borrow from different people in order to have a perfect direction when implementing the idea. This paper discusses the ideation process, alternative concepts, and solutions in ideation and provides an overview of a concept on the iPhone 5C model.
The ideation process constitutes of several steps, which include defining the objectives, formulating tasks, generating ideas, developing concepts, and results evaluation. To begin with, generation of ideas is carried out to help in pro...
In the essay “Thought” by Louis H. Sullivan, he states that people don’t always need words just to communicate. There are several ways that individuals are able to communicate without words, they can express themselves by gestures and facial features, like explaining themselves to others. Sullivan believes that both thinking and creative thinking are better without words and that the minds is always working; therefore, it does not have time to place words together. In order to think clearly they must use other means of pondering; although, the mind works quickly it will take a long time to write what they are thinking because the mind continues without stopping. When individuals are reading they are not think their own thought exactly but what

There are five categories of new products: new inventions, new category entries, additions to product lines, product improvements, and repositioning target products to new markets for new uses. The process is the same regardless of the category. It includes idea generation, idea screening, concept development and testing, analyzing the business, prototype development, test marketing, and commercialization.
I don’t think there is anything in ideas. When a young writer tells me he has an idea for a story, he means he has had an emotion that he wants to pass on. An artist has an emotion, and the first thing that he wants to do with it is to find some form to put it in, a design. It reacts on him exactly as food makes a hungry person want to eat. It may tease him for years until he gets the right form from the emotion.”

By executing my earlier proposal on the “text” Inception, a science fiction thriller by Christopher Nolan, I was able to delve deeper into the actual proposal. Inception argues how the mind can be influenced and changed with the smallest thing. The movie as a whole rests on the idea of invading dreams and the mind, hence the name, Inception. The text argues that implanting an idea into someone's mind is the greatest power, since they will believe they generated the idea themselves and act on it. This takes place within both reality and in dreams of the person the “inception” group wishes to invade. A charcoal drawing was created in order to try and represent and argue the idea of Inception.
Often, creativity phase plays critical role in providing good opportunity to familiarize the client with the team work. Moreover, they share potential ideas and proposals to reduce cost; without affecting quality or functionality negatively. Accordingly, there will be a base of ranked and classified ideas and views.
...f five people to generated new product ideas, among other tasks. One of their roles is to assist business units within 3M to generate new product ideas. They accomplish this by drawing up a plan to create ideas for products that will be marketable ten years in future. Once they have that plan in mind, they backtrack to the present year with new product ideas that are possible with today's technology. They then predict which additional products will be added year by year that will build upon each year's new technological advances to achieve their tenth year vision.
When an organization is looking for new creative ideas, they should ask their employees. The employees of the organization have an in depth look and are more understanding to the needs of the organization because it is where they work and are involved. Managers can call on a group of employees and together, they can come up with solutions for the organization. “Group decision making is a type of participatory process in which multiple individuals acting collectively, analyze problems or situations, consider and evaluate alternative courses of action, and select from among the alternatives a solution or solutions” (Group Decision Making, n.d.,para.1).
Design thinking process has eight generation stages: observation or analysis, framework, imperative or facts, solutions or alternatives, alternative evaluation and concept selection, implementation, construction, and post occupancy evaluation.
Brainstorming happens in 5 steps or guidelines one should follow. The first guideline is setting up rules for the group on brainstorming. I create rules of brainstorming by getting together as a
However, design thinking is present in each stage of journey from the brief until the finished work. Furthermore, different solutions can also be produced for any given brief and these can differ widely in the levels of creativity,
In the beginning lectures, I had no idea that brainstorming and conceptualizing an idea was part of an elaborate process to generate good product ideas. Great inspiration and a creative idea require deep thinking. I have learned that opportunity identification involves looking into the problems first rather than diving headfirst into the solution. Identifying and analyzing customer’s needs, market size, sustainability and scalability allows easy identification of low and high potential concepts. As stated in the article by Tim Brown (Brown, 2008), human-centric approach of innovation should be part of the design process as it gives insights into the life of an everyday person.
The imagination is an extremely powerful force. It has the power to create, to comfort, to ruin, and to destroy. It has any ability that is placed upon it, and can save a person from a terrible fate if used actively and in earnest. This largely overrated part of our most basic being can change everything we know about our lives, and substitute it with better alternatives for ourselves. As Mythbusters co-host Adam Savage has famously said, “I reject your reality and substitute it for my own.” In The Dreamer by Pam Muñoz Ryan, Neftalí uses his extremely vivid and potent imagination as a tool to escape from the harshness of the reality he finds himself in, creating a better revised edition in which he is able to take solace.
