A storm was current and a loud, booming sound was fructifying. Students were being corrupted with anxious thought of their homes being destroyed by the lightning. “Sit down in your seats!” the teacher exclaimed, as a school administrator wheeled in an old television on a cart. Students, eager to hear what was going on with the weather, sat quietly as the television turned on. The teacher searched for the local weather channel and found it after a few channels. With the rain falling and the thunder prospering, the curious children could barely understand what the weather man was saying. As the storm settled, the volume on the television was much clearer. They were paying close attention to the words he was saying. “Stay under a roof, …show more content…
He briefly explained the annotation of what a co-op is. She congratulated him on his profound allegation of his concern for the power being antiquated, and thanked him for his families accommodation of conjoining with a co-op. A few moments later, after the discussion between the teacher and student about a co-op, a knock on the door of the classroom occurred. The children and the teacher were wondrous of who it could be. The teacher hurried over to the door and subtly looked through the little window. She saw a man and a woman that looked somewhat prominent so she opened the door and welcomed them into the classroom. “We are here to get your power back up and running!” said the man. The man and the woman quickly walked toward the control panels. In just a few short minutes, the power turned back on and the children were very grateful to see that the lights could turn on. The students in the class were not afraid anymore because they knew that the man and the woman took care of everything. As the man and the woman left, the students just bombarded them with questions about how they turned the lights back on and what they did to get the power running. The man and the woman stayed for just a few moments answering the questions that the students
power was out but then she pushed the button to open the front gate and it did.
Clarice and I decided that we were going to do our assignment on Hialeah campus on a Friday morning. The building from Hialeah campus has four floors an it gets really busy when students get out of class to go their next class. We first, when to the elevator and practice when it was not busy, we analyzed where we were going to stand when people come the elevator one of us was going to be in the corner and the other one in from of the door facing the people. I decided to go first, we both got out of the elevator in the first floor, we waited for people to star coming to the elevator. Two girls come to wait for the elevator. I told Clarice to get phone ready that we were going with these two girls, we waited also for the elevator, the elevator come the doors open Clarice enter the elevator first pretending she was texting she when to the corner with the
The faded voices of choir singers are muffled by a roaring explosion. The sounds from the crumbling building spread down the block. Worn-down bricks, knocked out from underneath each another. Shards of colored glass, shot into the air. Chucks of wood and rubbish litter the sidewalk. Thick smoke and fearful screams saturate the air. A mother’s worse nightmare.
The World Health Organization (2010) defines interprofessional collaboration in health care as occurring “when multiple health workers from different professional backgrounds provide comprehensive services by working with patients, their families, carers and communities to deliver the highest quality of care across settings” (p. 7) and IPE as occurring “when two or more professions learn about, from and with each other to enable effective collaboration and improve health outcomes” (p. 7). Interprofessional collaboration is contingent on IPE; education promotes collaborative patient-centered care by strengthening communication skills and teamwork. This paper discusses the importance of interprofessional collaboration in healthcare by examining
He had gone to be early, woke up the next morning none the wiser to what had happened that night. His folks lived out in the hills and were a bit isolated, and he had helped his parents with a farm which was about twenty-five miles out of Atlanta. When the world went dark, they really weren’t affected so much. They routinely lost power and had a generator in a heavy metal shed, along with three full fifty-five gallons of fuel only for the generator. They were smart enough to have invested some time ago in solar panels. They had a well, which supplied them with water, and had a basement where they stored a lot of their food, at least for a few months, in the event of a
It was the middle of autumn in the small town of Cooperville, Tennessee. It was dark outside and had been for a while. As a matter of fact, it had been dark almost all day because a storm was brewing. Ellie Powerton, a 16-year-old burst of energy, was just getting home from the high school football game, which they won, of course. The Chargers had been undefeated for the past five years, and Ellie could not miss a game. As soon as Ellie entered her house, the power went out!
This storm must have been a strong because it has clearly cut the power off from the house. The tone of the speaker in the first two lines sound surprisingly calm. There had been a storm that had just passed their town, which could have been life threatening, but the speaker seems to have a very calm routinely tone to her voice. The tone of the speaker may be calm for now, but the setting of the speaker heading to the basement with the power out is a known fright, especially to a little
“Wow! They sound very experienced and a great group of people to rely on.” , I stated.
Halfway up it was beginning to look doubtful, the wind was picking up and everyone was getting out rain gear to prepare for the storm. I voiced my doubts to Phil and he said we might as well keep going until the lighting got too close. So we did. The thunder grew in volume and the echoes magnified the noise to a dull roar sometimes. Then suddenly it began to ebb. The wind died down and lightening came less frequently. I exchanged relieved looks with Phil after a bit, but kept the pace up--I didn’t want to take chances. Eventually it hit us, but by then it was nothing more then a heavy rain. We kept moving, if slower, and made it over the ridge with no other problems. That night I enjoyed the meal a little more and slept a little deeper realizing how much is important that easily goes unnoticed until something threatens to take it away.
Days passed and very little students had volunteered. “Only two student? “ said Principal Green. Ms. Pillsbury answered “Yes only two, the kids are scared. You know what they do to our people.” “ Yes but this is the chance of a lifetime they just need a push, please call these kids to my office,” said the principle as he scribbled the names of 8 kids on the
An English teacher (Holly Van Tassel-Schuster) wheeled a 36-inch television in front of the classroom door at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School as the building rushed into a lockdown--planning to push it onto the gunman if he tried to enter. Most of her students hid in a darkened closet trying to remain silent as they traded text messages with friends on other parts of the campus. Two students insisted on waiting in the room with Van Tassel-Schuster, holding every pair of scissors and sharp object they could gather as they waited out the attack.
Class started by the Mrs. Polzin greeting the students with, what Jimmy thought to be, a fake smile and good morning. She sat down at her desk and asked the pupils to take out their show and tell items. Other students had brought their pictures; others had brought caps and sweatshirts from different countries. Jimmy thought, like the others, his show and tell item was the best.
We knew it was time for our punishment. Time for us to repay for our crime. We put on our clothes and exited the hall. As we were leaving, two tall masked men grabbed our arms and pulled us aside. We knew it was the agents of the Home of Students.
As I stepped off the bus, realization hit me in the face; a whole day off and I was at school instead of sleeping in and relaxing. “Lets just get this over with”, I thought with a yawn. Waiting for a hour in front of the gym for the doors to open at Invergarry Adult Education Center was definitely not described on the trip permission form. While waiting for the doors to open, the student monitors helped kill the boredom with little games such as, Simon Says, Cops and Robbers, and Red Rover. Finally at nine, the gym doors opened with a bang. “Here goes nothing”,was the first thought that entered my mind. Cautiously, the student monitors led the way through the doors. Hesitantly, we followed their footsteps. As the students and I entered through the gym doors, the teachers cheered and applauded for us. This act of kindness put a enormous smile on my face, as I hurried along the row of chairs to find a seat with my friends.
But today is a very unusual day . I blamed the hot weather that aroused his suspicion and despised his ability in the calculation given to him. He hanged my explanation and continued to ignore my teaching even though I hauled them over the coals. For nearly and hour , no sum nor words were written. Visibly the papers and his mind was blank too. In my mind, I am paid to conduct this class and I have to finish my designated assignments with them to be said as a diligent teacher.
