Do you remember when your sister used to write in her diary and how curious you were on finding out what she wrote in it? If you didn’t have a sister – do you remember keeping your own diary hoping that your mom would not find it one day and read it? At a young age, we all learn to keep a diary or journal. In elementary school, we may have been required to write in a journal in class replying to a question asked by the teacher like “How was your weekend?” or “How was your break?” Simple questions were asked to help generate ideas in our young minds and help us write our own story. But now that we are older, do we still have the opportunity to write our own story the same way we used to? Are we still able to release our emotions and reflect on events in our lives? Though many people see keeping a journal as childish or a waste of time, the effects of recording ones thoughts are beneficial.
I use this to connect with friends and relatives that do not live in Australia. I can email, or message them via the sites and stay connected. One of the greatest benefits of literacy is the ability to communicate and connect to people from across the globe. It is fantastic that I can update family back in England, send them my regards, and likewise read their responses too. Literacy enables connections whether that be with someone familiar or foreign which I thoroughly enjoy.
Today 's generation is all about social media. It is the new way to have instant connection to thousands all over the world. Today 's company are now doing less traditional television, radio, and print advertisement and more promotion via Twitter, Facebook and/or Instagram. Companies are invested in getting famous people to post pictures or tweet about their products, knowing that, one person can connect with millions with just one post. Over half of the world has access to social media, making them great consumers. Social media benefit marketing by giving the companies the opportunity to learn their audience/consumers, having access to instant feedback and bring awareness to here product.
Well, you want to be a resource for your clients and potential clients. Providing your readers and followers with valuable content is a great way to establish a relationship with them and set your brand up as an expert resource to look to when they have questions. It allows you to communicate with your clients without always trying to sell something to them.
I think that ultimately, most blogs work best as single-authored and/or static texts. There is a reason why they are often called online journals or diaries. And even while it is very possible to have a multi-authored blog of sorts (I’m thinking of kairosnews or hotwired, for example), these sites are more or less wire services, they aren’t “collaborative” in the sense of people writing texts together, and they aren’t really “dynamic” in the sense of exchange of ideas and discussion with each other.
