Chapter Three
Faith is rooted in Believing
A distraught father brought his demon possessed son to Jesus. The disciples had been unable to deliver the boy, and when Jesus knew it, He said,
O faithless (unbelieving) and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him hither to me. Matthew 17:17
You can sense the exasperation in those words. Jesus knew the power of faith because He walked continually by faith. His disciples on the other hand, were powerless because they walked by sight.
And Jesus rebuked the devil; and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour. Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out? And Jesus said unto them, Because …show more content…

Matthew 17:20
Anyone who desires to have results God’s way, must have living faith. Living faith is faith that believes and acts on what God has said despite the circumstances.
The scripture says: Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness. Romans 4:3
Believing is an act of total dependence, and reliance on the word of God. That means you have no plan B if God does not come through for you.
A lot of the times, when people encounter storms on their journey to maturity with the Lord, they get mad. Some doubt God’s ability to help them out, while others question God, using faith destroying words such as: “Lord why me?”

To be a believer means you have to stand firm on what God has said. That is what Abraham did and he was called righteous.
…for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. Hebrews 11:6
Faith also means, make up your mind to believe God’s word regardless of how you feel, what is happening around you, in your business or in your finances – choose to believe God.
The Psalmist declares: In God have I put my trust: I will not be afraid what man can do unto me.Psalm 56:11
People of faith are passionate believers. You are not a believer because you attend a church. A believer is someone who is truly convinced, one who relies on and is totally dependent on what God has said. He believes, despite the circumstances or how long it may take for the answer to come.
Job was a passionate believer.
No unenthusiastic person will enjoy the fruit of faith.
Here is what Job confessed: Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him. Job 13:15
