Subsequently what is done is that selected high schools develop a curriculum that is organized around a specific career cluster, which are like a specialized charter school. The goal is to feature a series advanced “pathway” courses that can help students to enrich their knowledge through work-based learning and academics. In turn, this specialized education will allow student to demonstrate their understanding through assessments and industry credentialing opportunities. As well these schools are enrolled in a learning exchange that have partnerships that are organized to support the programs of study by coordinating statewide networks of education partners, businesses, industry associations, labor, and other organizations (2013, p. 21-23). Consequently, the program is driven to help high school students develop a career path and to receive exploratory education that will given them an advantage in either college endeavors or in the job market.

The task force recommends that the final scholarly project be called the DNP Project to elude confusion with the term capstone. Additionally, the DNP Project is not a research dissertation, and the authors recommend against this term as well. Although all eight DNP Essentials do not have to be demonstrated in the DNP Project, the authors recommend that students have the opportunity to integrate them into practice. Surprisingly, the task force did not agree with the recommendations of all DNP Essentials. The task force suggests that an integrative and systematic review alone is not considered a DNP Project and does not afford students opportunities to develop and integrate scholarship into their practice. The task force also made clear that a student’s portfolio should not be considered a DNP
a doctoral journey can be a long process, with many benchmarks for the students' dissertation to satisfy. Many students have left dissertations in progress and unfinished, because job and familiy committments have been a higher priority.

...her ups, and then once their ideas of education update, so can school systems, then teachers themselves. Maiers “Keys to Student Engagement” shows the raw potential that school systems already have. It also shows that students need the drive and ambition to succeed. Tristan’s article on edutopia provides ideas that are already in motion. His ideas and tips have already started to work in public high school in his community. With the guidance and vision of these three authors public school issues could cease to exist. Even though there’s a lot involved getting administrators (and some teachers) on board, it is possible, and in the near future, a reality.
The doctoral advisor is a vital component of a student’s doctoral experience. While much of the literature focuses on the student’s perception of the advisor, Barnes and Austin (2009) examined what doctoral advisors believe to be their function in the doctoral process. The authors goal with this study was to “address a gap in the literature” (Barnes and Austin, 2009, p. 298) by offering insight into what advisors view as their responsibilities to their students.
