Gonzalez-Prendes and Thomas suggest that three main important issues influence the “experience and expression of anger in African-American women” (p.383). These three main issues include gender role socialization on anger expression, powerlessness, and messages that are culture-related which creates an impractical expectation of strength.

They are tormented and the abuse does not help their situation, the agitation can even make their condition worse, and the treatment for their illness is low quality if there is any at all.
