Team Meeting Reflection

The first meeting consisted of brainstorming ideas around student issues, including how to recruit students, to retain students, and to help them achieve their goals. To provide my coworkers with time to think about the issues, I sent out the overarching topic with the meeting invite one week prior to our scheduled meeting date. This allowed them the opportunity to gather their thoughts, and several of them attended the meeting with a list of ideas on the topic already. When I asked for ideas to start off the process, one coworker volunteered a couple of ideas she had written down, and the rest of the generated ideas were piggybacked on her initial start. At the end of our meeting, we reviewed the notes they had brought with them to make sure the ideas that had initially written down was covered in some way. …show more content…

At the start of the brainstorming meeting, I stressed that the meeting length would be strictly enforced, and therefore, it was imperative we stay on topic. One coworker volunteered to keep track of the time so the meeting would not run over. Before we began, I also reviewed the rules of brainstorming. Overall, the brainstorming meeting went really well. Discussions were kept on topic for the most part. There were only a couple of times where one coworker would start to get off topic or would want to further explain or discuss an idea, but they would quickly be reminded by another coworker, not me, that this was not the time where we were discussing and evaluating the ideas. The meeting ended on time and remained on topic throughout. One of my coworkers remarked how it was the most productive meeting we had ever
