Strength Vocalise markets its services as highly customisable. The Music Director is able to create customized arrangements for clients. Wedding couples could request for any song and Vocalise would be able to arrange it for various instruments. Another example is when the Istana contacted Vocalise specifically for Hungarian music when Singapore hosted the Hungarian Prime Minister. This is Vocalise’s unique selling point as it is the only agency that is able to provide such customisation services. Vocalise was able to secure many commercial corporate projects with popular brands as well as government agencies. Some examples include Marina Bay Sands, Hennessy, the Singapore Tourism Board as well as the Istana. From these opportunities, …show more content…
Vocalise was established as a luxury agency providing entertainment for high-end brands and projects. The company is also well-known for the exclusive luxury-branded quartets VOX String Quartet (VOX) and AMPER Quartet (AMPER) (refer to Figure 1 and Figure 2 in Appendix). However, Vocalise has been sending these groups to insignificant corporate events due to financial decisions. VOX was established as Singapore’s first pop-rock string quartet, known to have performed for major events such as Formula 1, Singapore Fashion Week and for luxury brands. Due to financial issues in the recent years, VOX has been playing for insignificant corporate events and weddings. With an unclear branding, Vocalise has not been able to differentiate and justify itself as a luxury …show more content…
With the help of the Music Director, Vocalise was recently able to form an 11-musician-strong String Ensemble for a performance at the Esplanade Concourse. These musicians are young and exclusive to the company. Hence, Vocalise would be able to offer various String Ensemble set-ups that are not offered by any other entertainment agencies. Through the first Open Call, Vocalise was also able to secure an exclusive electric-violin duo, a concept that is unique to the company. Vocalise’s ability to engage and work with upcoming musicians and new concepts allows it to have an edge over its
This concert is held by the Stony Brook University music department and is to perform seven pieces of music written by seven student composers. The concert is performed in Recital Hall of Staller Center in Stony Brook University. Since it is a small hall, audiences are very close to the performers. In fact, it is the first time I am this close to the performers and the sound for me is so clear and powerful that seems like floating in front of my eyes. Among the seven pieces, “Ephemeral Reveries” and “Gekko no mori” are piano solo, “Two Songs for Joey” is in piano and marimba, “Suite” and “Fold Duet No. 1” are in woodwinds, “Elsewhere” is played by string groups, and “e, ee, ree, and I was free” is in vocal. Personally, I like the sound of piano and guitar the best. Therefore, in the latter part I will analysis two pieces in piano, “Gekko no mori” and “Two Songs for Joey”.
The history of the Concert Band and Wind Ensemble will be reflected through a timeline of events, including an analysis of significant events, groups, composers, and advancements. When society envisions a Wind Ensemble, talented musicians, grand music halls, and difficult arrangements typically come to mind. However, a modern-day Wind Ensemble includes a variety of musicians, each with positive and negative aspects. In society today, music is greatly appreciated and accepted. It is considered an honor and a privilege to expose our ears to the music.
On Tuesday, October 17, 2017, I attended a musical concert. This was the first time I had ever been to a concert and did not play. The concert was not what I expected. I assumed I was going to a symphony that featured a soloist clarinet; however, upon arrival I quickly realized that my previous assumptions were false. My experience was sort of a rollercoaster. One minute I was down and almost asleep; next I was laughing; then I was up and intrigued.
Popular music places a premium on accessibility, represents various meanings to boost both instant appeal and memorability - distinctive tunes, novel instrumental flourishes, danceable rhythms, repeated riffs - but its signal feature is melodic emphasis and great vocal gatherings.
Imagine living during the 1960’s when the nation was divided by segregation. The only way to express your ideas, beliefs, and thoughts during that time was through words. Famous Civil Rights activists such as, Dr.Martin Luther King Jr., inspired many with his wise words and empowering speeches. Times when many felt unheard or invisible, words were there as tranquilness and an ataraxia. Words have the power to provoke, calm, or inspire by motivating others to take action in what they believe in.
That brings us to the last segment of our concert, the Modern Era. Traditoinal musical instruments in the modern period have not changed nearly as much as they have in the 18th and 19th centuries. There have been gradual iterations of musical instruments within the 1900’s, such as updates to the violin family. There were many new instruments created in the Modern Era, all of which focused around electricity. This evening’s selections do not include any such selections with electronic instruments; however, there are arrangements available for the electric instruments such as the organ, keyboard or syntehsizer, or electric guitar.

Orchestras of grand instruments playing alongside a chorus of 90+ men singing in Dragon language add wonders to the feel of Skyrim.

My mother and I had sat down an order some appetizers and we continued listening to the music. It was very peaceful with the music playing and the atmosphere. As I cotinued to lisetning and watching them I could see they were very engaged in the rythem. They were not just playing but they were active in the music. You could tell they were very passionate about it. It was comforting sitting down and listening to the music. There were hardly any people there and I knew it was good chance to personally talk to the band members when they had an intermission. I had listened to three different songs before I spoke to them. “Beautiful Love”, “Misty” and You’d Be So Nice to Come Home to” I was able to gather this information when I was interviewing them. Misty was very soft and had a slow tiempo to it. While the other two were a faster tiempo with a louder volume to them but were not so overwhelming. The saxophone player was Pierre, a French name he told me. The upright bass player was Mike and Chris was on the piano. The songs that we had listened to were mainly jazz standards. The only vocals sang were by Pierre on “Misty”. The tone quality was easily distinguished throughout the songs. The piano was heavily involved in all three songs meaning order of the soloists Chris (piano), Mike, (upright bass), and Pierre

I will also discuss techniques I will use to leverage my strengths and understand my weaknesses. In addition, I will consider opportunities that I can take advantage of and the threats that can possibly impede my progress.
