The location of Gator Town is also an internal strength. Gator Town is located near Main Street where it is easy to find and it is also a convenient location while being visible from the main office and the learning commons. The last strength is that Gator Town offers healthy snack options. For example, Gator Town offers baked lays rather than regular chips. With the wide variety of healthy snack choices, from almond bars to Gatorade, it's delicious and healthy at the same time.
Some examples of the internal weaknesses of Gator Town is that some merchandise and clothing can be too expensive for students who are unemployed or earn minimum wage. This can only leave those students to purchase only the snacks and drinks that are inexpensive. Additionally, not many people can go into Gator Town at the same time. That is because the size of the store is too small. This is another internal weakness because if over 10 students are in the store at the same time, it will get overcrowded. The top three external opportunities are the opportunity to incorporate a website for the store, advertise, and extend the variety of clothes by adding sweatshirts. Almost all businesses today such as Nike and Kohl's have a store website where customers can look to shop, find informations, and provides additional avenues for sales. Since Gator Town currently does not have a store website, it would be a big opportunity if the store incorporate one. This will allow students to find informations such as school hours and look at the merchandises online. nowadays. Customers expects to see a website for all businesses because the internet is where many people start their search. Having an online website allows customers to quickly and impersonally compare products, merchandise, and services before physically entering the store. An online website is also a big opportunity because it gives the business legitimacy. Having an online website creates professionalism, where as not having one might seem like the business is not being taken seriously. Additionally, a website makes the business available 24/7. Unlike the Gator Store, a website is available 24 hours a day, and 7 days a week, meaning informations is readily available. Comparing to other typical stores, Gator Town needs to advertise more frequently. Stores such as Starbucks and McDonald uses billboards and commercials to advertise. Advertising not only increases sales, but it acquire and retain customers. Although Gator Town does advertise, but only during specific holidays, it will create a big opportunity if the store advertise weekly. Students would be able to know what is on sale and tit would increase the sale of merchandise and products in Gator Town. Lastly, as of March 2017, a popular clothing item that is trending are sweatshirts. With the current weather, which is not too hot or too cold, many students prefer to wear something comfortable during class. Stores such as Kohl's and Forever 21 carries all different kinds of sweatshirts. If Gator Town can carry sweatshirts, it will create a big opportunity for the store. One of the biggest threat is that the River Bluff logo is not trademarked.
Therefore, anyone can be able to take the logo, sell it and not get into trouble. This may cause confusion among the students and teachers that shops at Gator Town. The River Cafe and Cafe 320 store hours are more consistent than Gator Town. River Cafe and Cafe 320's store hours are more convenient for the students because the students know when they are open, instead of being a guessing game. This factor can be a threat to Gator Store because many students do not have time to guess when Gator Store is open or closed. Many students does not like carrying cash around them. Most students put money in their student ID. Unlike Cafe 320 and River Cafe, Gator Town does not accept money from student's ID. This is considered a weakness because, for example, if Gator Town does not accept money from the student's ID, the student will have to go somewhere else such as River Cafe or Cafe 320. Lastly, Dick's Sporting Goods and a few other athletic sporting stores sell River Bluff merchandise. This can lure all the customers away from Gator Town and to the other well known athletic sporting stores. People who are not River Bluff students may also shop at the other sporting
stores
