Born on February 2, 22, 1996, Charles Cullen is a famous serial killer from New Jersey (Jennifer Hash, 2006, p. 3). The Media named him “the Angel of Death,” an apt nickname for a serial killer that worked as a nurse. According to Brain D, Andresen (2005), an angel of death describes is a type of serial killer that often works as a caregiver in the medical field who intentionally kills patients (1). An angel of death has power over their victims and may try to play god by deciding the victim would be better off dead than to suffer from their illness. As a nurse, Cullen had access to drugs, which he used to kill his victims. He gave patients overdoses of the drug digoxin, a heart stimulant. Charles was given a way out of the death penalty if
Although pride can lead to beneficial outcomes, pride with the absence of empathy can lead to a devastating result. The Most Dangerous Game by Richard Connell shows that having too much pride and no empathy can get someone in some terrible trouble. The theme is proven by Rainsfords pride and unempathetic-ness, how the general had too much pride, and how the general only saw himself as the hunter, not the hunted.
David Berkowitz, otherwise known as the “Son of Sam”, was notorious for his crimes committed between 1976 and 1977 that ended the lives of six innocent victims and wounded several others in New York (“David Berkowitz Biography”, n.d.). At first, police did not make a connection between the murders because there was nothing unusual about them; all the victims were shot with a 40 caliber gun, not fairly unusual during this time or place especially since the killings were over an extended period of time. Police finally made the connection when Berkowitz began to live behind notes that were meant to tantalize authorities since they had yet to catch him (“David Berkowitz| Son of Sam Killer,” 2015). Often times, the psychological structure of a human
The Goal is a story about overcoming manufacturing problems that is told through the eyes of a plant manager, Alex Rojo. Alex arrives to work one morning only to discover the division vice-president, Bill Peach, showed up unannounced to see the status of a specific customer order number, discovered the order was incomplete, barked orders at employees to assemble the products, and finally informed Mr. Rojo he has only three months to improve his plant's performance before it's closed because the plant cannot get orders out the door on time. In fact, the order Bill investigated was already seven weeks late and the product not even assembled. After Bill departs, Alex heads to the floor to discover Bill's unexpected arrival has created more problems. The master machinest Bill yelled at before Mr. Rojo arrived quit but only after setting up a machine to complete the seven-week-late order that Bill demanded be shipped out today. The machinest, however, forgot to tighten two adjustment nuts on the machine so several parts must be scrapped, but even worse is that the machine, which just so happens to be the only one of its kind in the plant, is broken.
In “The Most Dangerous Game” by Richard Connell, Zaroff is a hunter that lives on an island in the middle of nowhere. Zaroff demonstrates that he is rich, smart, and confident.
“The world is made up of two classes-the hunters and the huntees [...] Life is for the strong, to be lived by the strong, and, if need be, taken by the strong (Connell 16).”
“One of us is to furnish a repast for the hounds. The other will sleep in this very excellent bed. On guard Rainsford.”

Mr. Zesch is a winner of the Western History Associations Ray Allen Billington Award, as well as of the Biennical TCU Texas Book award for the best book published in 2003 or 2004. Scott Zesch has also written other books other than "The Captured" including " The Chinatown War" and " Alamo Heights". Mr. Zesch wrote "The Captured" because when Zesch found out that he had a great uncle named Adolph Korn who had been abducted by Indians, he was determined to find out more about this abduction. When he did, Zesch decided to write a book explaining who his great uncle was, how he came to know about this abduction and the events taken place throughout this incident. Zesch wanted his book to be represent a synthesis of sources that are trustworthy. With that said Zesch focused mainly on the German children who were abducted. Throughout the book the feel of
In Richard Connell’s story “The Most Dangerous Game” is about a big game hunter named Rainsford. In the story Rainsford is on a yacht with his buddy named Whitney. So when Whitney goes to sleep Rainsford falls off his boat and he swam to an island where he found a chateau. So when he got there he knocked on the door where a guy named Ivan was pointing a gun at Rainsford heart (line 148-150). Then a guy named General Zaroff came and saved Rainsford because he said he knew him. So later, that night General Zaroff asked Rainsford to go hunting with him so, Rainsford said no because in line 422 he said “I’m really not feeling at all well.” Then the next day General Zaroff gave Rainsford a choice either to play the game
In the short story “The Most Dangerous Game,” by Richard Connell, the setting is necessary for the plot to work. For example, there are rocks surrounding the island. The huge boulders keep people off of the island and trap General Zaroff’s prey on the island. Rainsford sees that, “jagged crags appeared to jut up into the opaqueness” (p.3). As Rainsford swims towards the rocks, after he fell overboard, he can see himself on the boulders before he can even get to them. He is anxious to get to land, not knowing what is in the near future. The boulders usually keep intruders out, but Rainsford is one persistent man. If someone sees the island with boulders surrounding it, they will not want to want to climb them to reach the island. Serial killers have captivated the attention of scientists from the first signs of their existence to modern day. Interested by these killers’ inhumane actions, researchers set out to determine the cause of such graphic, horrific crimes. The brain has been brought into question regarding the motivation of these cold blooded killers. After extensive research, abnormalities of both the chemical composition and material makeup have been identified within the brains of numerous serial killers. These differences are more than mere coincidence, they are evidence that killers do not think in the same way. The killers’ drives and motives are irregular, just as their brains are. Not only are these variations interesting, but they are also crucial to the justice system in regards to the punishment of past, future, and present sequential murderers. It is important that as a society we learn the differences in the mind of a killer, and also recognize and understand them. A serial killer’s brain greatly differs in function from the average citizen’s brain due to physical variations in the brain and a different chemical makeup.

I'm choosing to write about the short story called “The Most Dangerous Game.” This story begins with two sailors, coasting down an eerie stream with nothing but the moonlight to illuminate the soft waters. The two sailors began to talk about the mysterious island, not to far away from their current position. As Sanger Rainsford's fellow sailor leaves to catch some shut eye, Rainsford finds himself carelessly near the boat's edge. As if fate was not on his side, Rainsford falls in. “The Most Dangerous Game” clearly catches the readers attention, since just before Rainsford fell, his partner was telling him the chilling story about the island not to far off. Rainsford's cries for help go unheard by the sleeping ears of his fellow sailor, and
The darkest action in the story, "The Most Dangerous Game" by Richard Connell, is when General Zaroff tells the stranded hunter Rainsford, that he will be the next one hunted. This action is highlighted when the General calmly announces, "As you wish my friend....the choice rests entirely with you. But may I venture to suggest that you will find my idea at sport more diverting than Ivan's." He indicates that Rainsford has a choice to make between being hunted like an animal by a psychotic super killer with a revolver or torn to death by a gigantic sadist with a whip. The intention that prompts General Zaroff are purely selfish. He has become bored because he is such a skilled hunter that no animal provides him with a challenge anymore. "Simply
