Lupe Garza, mother of two children, is a temporary employee at a plant. Garza is an excellent and talented worker, and supervisors have taken notice in her skills. A human resource specialist named Sara Jones, mislead Garza in thinking she would unquestionably obtain a permanent job position at the plant, causing Garza to turn down another job opportunity. During the interview, Garza is truthful and informs Mark Solomon, a human resource specialist, that she is currently using someone else’s identity in order to work legally and her real name is Carmen Mendoza. Mark tell Garza that she will not be able to obtain the permanent positions at the plant because of her circumstances. Garza pleads Mark for the position, felling remorseful Mark leads Garza into believing she may have a chance in obtaining the position. Furthermore, during the interview, Garza informs Mark, there are other employees using someone else’s identity.
The New England Aquarium’s foray into diversity was tumultuous and administrators learned lessons the hard way. Despite the early problems administrators faced with the minority youth programs, the needs of both parties were eventually addressed. The aquarium was reaching communities they hadn’t before while young people experienced meaningful job opportunities. Once I worked for a small manufacturing firm that employed an unusually diverse mix of genders and minorities for a Midwestern company. Just before my employment, a consulting management firm’s contract had recently completed to address infighting among departments. The president of the company, who I will call Carol, had taken over leadership when her father retired. She had an undergraduate degree in human resources and lifetime exposure to running the business. Carol cared about the well-being of employees, although her management skills were questionable at times. Carol was under age forty, married with young children, attractive and athletic, and she dressed in a casual way neither hiding nor flaunting her sexuality.

The recommendations were also increase awareness of predudus and use employment agencies instead of using referrals. They also encouraged women to work together instead of alone. They also recommended flextime, telecommuting and daycare for working women. To be able to retain the competitive advantages LeasePlan has focused on promoting women to help increase employee satisfaction. By doing this women have been more positive about their employment.

I recently interviewed ten different people. Each individually discussed race, class, gender, sexual orientation and how it affects them on a daily basis. Each of them having different and similar answers to them. Learning that even though these characteristics were a massive problem in the past, in today’s society these issues still occur every day.
