The various duties that I was entrusted with were greeting the guests and presenting them with the menu on arrival at the restaurant. I would then take the orders for both the food and beverages from the guests of which I was expected to engage the guests in conversation which was intended to provide any assistance that the guests had queries about. After the guests were done and content with the service provided, I would then take it upon myself to clear all the dishes and glasses from the tables that the guests had left. Through this manner, I would be sure that …show more content…
The duties I carried out were more or less the same as the Mama Chen restaurant. Handling the guest check-ins and their consequent checkouts efficiently after mastering the OPERA system of reservation at the desk was one of the responsibilities. As an agent, one was required to handle all the cash processing procedures and assisting the guests with all their inquiries, which regarded the services that the hotel offered as well as the directions to the hotel. This is a skill I had mastered from my previous work experience. Finally, an assortment of the client database was the last requirement of a desk agent. Currently, I am in the sales department in a jewelry store called Pandora. The duties here require that I initiate service through socializing with the customers and learning as well as remembering the knowledge of Pandora. This way, the customers get the feeling of trust and can thus move ahead with the purchase processes. This is where I assist all the customers that are settled on jewelry on building their bracelets and finally check out the bill for the customer. …show more content…

Attitudes about personal interest and career choices are influenced by a person‘s culture and age. “I want to be a pilot.” “I want to a lawyer.” Younger generations always decide their interest and what they want to do as their career based on their own benefit. Observing from the past in the U.S., very limited opportunity is offered to the Chinese immigrants. They might consider if they can do it, in stead of if they want to do it or not. Regardless of what education level they possessed most of the Chinese immigrant work as a waiter, waitress or some low paid jobs. However, the Chinese immigrants’ position in U.S. community is changing these years. Chinese immigrants are being appreciable in the U.S. community. As the changes, there were so many conflicts between younger and older generation who are Chinese immigrants after viewing on career choices and personal interest. I am going to learn more about how different generations view personal interest and career choices.
For my experience in this field I went in and interview my dad and asked him about something’s that he does around the office and what the big part of his job is and he explicated. I found out that there are very high risks in this job because you are handling people’s money, when sometimes this is the customer’s whole life savings going into your hands to try to make money. This would work well with me because I am very good with numbers which, leads to being really good in math. From the interview I also learned that you have to be a people’s person because most of the job is trying to get people to let you handle their most in return for a commission or a part of the money that will be made. I learned that this job will be me sitting at a desk for most of the day and sometimes sitting down with old customers or new customers deciding what route they want to take with their money. I liked that my dad is very dexterous or skillful.
