This story is called “Grace under pressure” written by Kasmere. This story is about life always knocking you down. This is kinda like a motivational story telling you that life will always knock you down but you always need to get back up. The author talked about his experience about hitting rock bottom and he was left with nobody but then he got back up and is all good now. So it doesn't matter how many time you get knocked down it's about how many times you get up. This message of this story really is a pick me up sorta story or motivations. This can help me when i get knocked down and don't feel like getting back up. I like this story a lot because of that. And also everyone needs motivation and a push every once in awhile and this story
As I was starting my homework, I heard my mom yell "Honey! Come down for dinner!!". As I went down the stairs, an aroma of buttery mashed potatoes filled the air. As soon as I sat down at the table, my father asked the same question he does everyday, "what did you learn at school today sweetheart?" "Well, I read a story called "Block Party" and we had to identify the theme of the story, which was that you dont necessarily need a mother to grow up well, get advice, help regarding more personal problems, or to have a female role model in your life. I agree with the theme of the story because if you need advice you can always ask your friends, or or if you are having more personal problems you could go to other relatives in your family. Also, you could have another female role model, such as an aunt or a grandmother.
Another instance of determination and ambition changing a life occurs when Dunstan is serving in the military. Having just wiped out a machine-gunner’s nest, he began the dangerous journey back to his own side. However, he is soon wounded in the leg by a stray piece of shrapnel. Quickly losing blood, and in copious amounts of pain, he continues the crawl towards his own side. A man with lesser motivation...
At this point of the story it is reflective of a teenager. A teenager is at a time in life where boundaries and knowledge is merely a challenging thing to test and in some instances hurdled. Where even though you may realize the responsibilities and resources you have, there is still a longing for the more sunny feelings of youth.
The story starts with Eddie, an old man (Eighty years old to be exact) who works at Ruby Pier, a carnival-like amusement park. Eddie has worked there for most all of his life (except when he served in the war), and, even though today is his birthday, he still does everything the same way he would do things any other day. Today would be different though. A thrill ride called Freddy's Free Fall had been stuck with all its passengers at the top of the ride, and it was rather tilted towards the ground. Eddie raced over to tell the man running the ride to get the passengers off and then press the release button. The man did and when he pressed the release button, the cart where the passengers had been fell to the ground. In the midst of all this, Eddie saw a little girl right under the spot where the cart would fall, and, despite his bad leg, he ran over to save the little girl as the cart was falling. All he felt was her little hands and then, pain followed by the feeling of floating.
This story taught me that anything is possible as long as you don’t give up and you believe in yourself. The theme of this book is similar to the lesson that it taught me: never give up on those you love and believe in your abilities to make the impossible possible.
. This story embodies how the author saw her experiences that she had lived through.
What idea(s) does this poem suggest to you about overcoming challenges involving with hopelessness and ambitions?
...nnor wrote the story The Life you save may be your Own the fate of the characters Mr. Shiflet saved his own life by leaving Lucynell in the diner; Mrs. Crater saved her own life by setting up Lucynell and Mr. Shiflet, and the title means you don’t always have to do the best thing for other people some time’s you do it for yourself. I know that in my essay it looks like the only thing this story is about is trying to get rid this girl because no one wants her, but I’m pretty sure that there is more to the story than that. This is a really influential quote for the title, but I feel as though the story could have been a little bit stronger when it comes to the details. There wasn’t really much that happened in the story until the very end. This quote really makes you think about saving lives and what you are doing for yourself and what you are doing for other people.
Across the world people struggle with staying positive. There not focused on good. They only see what’s bad. In the story, “Fly Away Home” by Eve Bunting, Andrew and his father live in an airport after Andrew’s mom died they lost their apartment but they always try to stay positive and grateful for shelter at the airport that some people don’t have. They have faith in getting an apartment and saving up money. They both focus on good during the bad times.
If you are familiar with the television show "Seinfeld" many may fondly remember "The Chaperone," the scene starts with Elaine interviewing at Doubleday, a publishing house in New York City. Her conversation with the managing editor turns to the character Jackie O and the ineffable quality of grace. Elaine says, "You know, grace is a tough one. I like to think I have a little grace." Mrs. Landis, the editor, dismisses Elaine's notion out-of-hand, emphatically stating, "You can't have a little grace. You either have grace or you don't." In the next scene, Mr. Pitt, formerly a great friend of Jackie O, tells Elaine, "You don't want too much grace or you won't be able to stand."
My father would always tell me a story about a warrior who decided to leave during the battle and hide in a cave in the Himalayan mountains. He felt tired and hungry from fighting vigorously. Since he did not have anything to do, he became curious and began to look around at the dark weary walls. He then saw an ant carrying a grain of rice to the other side of the wall. However, the grain of rice would fall. The ant crawled back to where the grain of rice had fallen and picked it up to embark on its journey to the opposite wall. The determined ant did this over again for thirty times. The warrior learned an important lesson that when we face challenges, we need to try our best and never lose hope. The courageous warrior went back to the battle feeling undaunted and diligent towards winning the battle.
The time between September and January, I had to learn to push myself when I felt scared. For a few months, anytime I would go to practice I would try and complete the assigned practice but I always backed out when things got too tough. One day my hesitations of pushing myself became obvious to my coach so she pulled me aside and gave my a great lecture that influenced how I view my life today. I wish I could have recorded her talk with me, but the gist of our talk left me the greatest lesson of my life. When I am faced with trial and turmoil in my life, there are choices left for me to take. I either have to choose to fight, fit, or to fade. To fight, I have to push myself further than my own limitations. I have to look past my mind’s limit and succeed further than I thought ever possible. To fit, is choosing to stay in comfort, never changing, or to play it safe. To fade, is to give up on trying, forget motivation and to just curl into a ball of self pity and fade away. I choose to fight, I fought through my fear of working hard and pushing my heart rate higher than I felt comfortable. I continue choosing to fight everyday, I challenge myself from being comfortable. I chose my life to be lived this way because I decided that living comfortably would not give me growth or fading away would not give me life. I choose my life to be this way not because I had the will power to do so, but because I had the love and encouragement and great people around me. I was not alone during this hard time in my life, I had friends, coaches, family and God to give me guidance. Not a day goes by that I don’t look back at this time in my life with a smile. I am only thankful for everything that happened to me then and grateful for everything that followed after that time. My plan is to continue to fight and live my life
I was very affected by the vision of this young girl diving bravely from the comfort of her safe bedroom into a deep, dark abyss to save her brother from death. Innocense battles evil in this story. It is a metaphor for how I felt when trying to help raise my six siblings from a young age. You can try to comfort them, save them from the horrible things of this world, but in the end when you are young, if there is no one to stand up for you, evil will devour the innocent like a mouth of sharp teeth on candy apples. A side note: The song is a lullabye I made up for my second son when he was a baby. It's been a favorite throughout the years and I was tickled to use it in this story. Another side note is that Tony is the same character in Supergirls 2: Night without Stars & Pillow Talk. I like to think he reincarnates over and over, trying to find his way out of the deep abyss of his fate. One day, I think he'll find
Thanks to my perseverance, my life is beginning to head in a better direction. Recently, I have been able to finally get insurance once more, so I hope to start seeing a therapist soon. The journey of my life is far from over, and I do not doubt that there will be plenty more obstacles to face, but I know that I will be able to survive them. My strength has been truly tested, and thanks to that, I know that I have the perseverance to keep going. I may stumble, but I have learned how to get back up again and keep
This is where the story begins. Then the author sets the tone and scene for the reader. I loved the way she accomplished it. She gave me a clear representation of how Mia was feeling. Also, I was truly touched and saddened by the accident. After the crash, I appreciated how the author described Mia’s journey. When the family was in the hospital, I actually felt like I was there because of how well they described every little detail, including the kinds of injuries Mia had or surgeries her family members needed in order to survive. “It’s a good step if she can breathe on her own. It shows her lungs are healing and her internal injuries are stabilizing.” (Forman
