1. Appearance
Even though this is a personal website, it is too much going on. The site is not appealing nor professional. The owner of the site is advertising that she will come to an event to speak on liberty issues. You must read the entire page to find that information. Unfortunately, I don’t believe the first impression of the website will produce potential customers. If this website reflects her company views or mission, I doubt if anyone will take her seriously.
Suggestion: I would include a navigation bar on the first page to direct viewers to a gallery, blog, events, contact, an about page, etc. Only a few pictures if necessary for the first page.
2. Typeface
The owner of the liberty van website used too many typefaces. Her

Suggestion: I wouldn’t have blue both as a background and text color. There are many colors that compliment each other that could have been used. As you add more and more fancy colors and background, it’s important to make sure the text stays readable.
4. Spacing
Paragraphs are all over the place, they’re overlapping and overflowing into the pictures.
Suggestion: A grid will help this website in its structure and organization as well as organizing large chunks of information into relevant sections. It is useful to use a grid in terms of spacing as well as many other design issues.
5. Images and Graphics
The images are fine if that’s what she wants to share. However, as mentioned above, a gallery would be the best place to display the images along with all the links she has all over the page linking to other pictures.
Suggestion: Graphic gives appeal to an otherwise boring page. However, according to Duckett, “images should make your website more attractive and professional.” Also, according to the lecture on good design practices, an image should give you clear details about the image. This will give the viewer more incentive to continue to

It makes you scroll and scroll and scroll. In fact, it really sucks because my finger is sore from trying to navigate around it.
Suggestion: Again, this site needs to be easy to read, easy to navigate, and easy to understand. It needs minimal scroll particularly on the first page. Provide links from the main page to read more about a particular topic. An id attribute would be beneficial for this website.
7. Clear Navigation
Navigation means to help people find where they want to go. Liberty van website navigational system is not working.
Suggestion: I believe a website is useless without clear navigation. It should be concise, clear and selective. The navigation part of the website needs to have names for various pages on the site. Goals and ideas should be clear and obvious
8. Strong and Clear Message
I’ve tried to read some of the message on the website, but I can’t get a clear message because my eyes keep jumping around the page. I’m afraid to open some of the links from fear of getting a possible virus on my laptop.
Suggestion: Visitors should be able to understand your site’s purpose when they visit. You want to leave a lasting impression so that they will revisit your
In a second attempt to further expand the company horizons, an e-commerce site was created. This site is interesting because its main focus is not the clothing but the “lifestyle”. Upon entering the Abercrombie and Fitch website, the first thing the consumer sees is a half naked man, sprawled on the ground, eating a plate full of fruit. It is just to be inferred that he is wearing Abercrombie and Fitch clothing. This just shows how the image of Abercrombie is much more important than the clothing itself. The site itself is bright and summery. The attitude is carefree, active and sexy. Maneuvering ones way around this website is relatively easy. The links include Lifestyle, A&F TV, A&F Quarterly (the magazine/catalogue), Company, and Shop A&F. Other links include, music, movies, downloads, postcards, photos, and “hot” sites. The website seems to be almost completely focused on drawing the consumer into the lifestyle of Abercrombie and Fitch. The information the company gives is very limited. For example, throughout the entire website, there is not one mention of a company mission statement, yet there is a plethora of information about the company’s financial standings.
Web sites are just like magazines, newspapers, brochures, menus, or even directions on how to make nitroglycerin from house-hold goods, in that they all have to be put together in such a manner that whoever is reading or browsing over it will be able to clearly distinguish this from that. In this sense, a critique of any particular web site will have justification, while carefully considering also that this is an altogether new medium of information exchange. Now, all of this talk of togetherness is actually a general reference to basic design principles, such as color coordination, if color is used, text size, font choice/ style, art integration, accessibility, and just plain and simple design of the page. For example, it wouldn't be all that appealing to the eyeball if a page being viewed had all the text jumbled up in a corner, so small your eyes were bleeding by the time you figured out that it wasn't even worth the trouble. Darn. It's important to rememeber, especially these days, that what you read is as important as how it looks. Have you ever tried reading an interview in a Raygun magazine? Kinda hard, right? Design totally for its own sake is nice, as art that is, and admittedly it looks cool. However, it's two in the morning and you're standing in line at the corner 7-11 trying to pay for your 40 ounce bottle of Kool-Aid, and you happen to see that your favorite MTV Pearl Crap-clone band is on the cover of this hip magazine and you go to read it, but you can't. It's not because to you failed elementary school three times in two years, but because the maestro in charge decided to get fancy with it and thought it'd be cool if he hid the text under a black box or likewise photograph. I like to loo...
My website has three pages to it: About, Home, Contact. The About page is about me, it gives background on my dance experience and where I dance know. I also included a photo of myself dancing because I wanted to keep the website personal. The Home page includes text, photos, videos, and diagrams. It has some text that I wrote about my own dance experience as wel...
I chose a very simple white template for my website and chose to go through the domain of Weebly. I chose a more simple template because I wanted everything to be easy to find and to navigate. There is nothing more frustrating than when you're trying to research a topic and you can't because the website is busy and messy. My goal in designing my website was this, I wanted to create a website that I wish I had available to me when I was preparing for my news presentation. I wanted to build a website that was a well blend of the sources I had used, but with little to no bias. Affirmative action can more often than not be seen as an issue of the past so it was important to me to include resources that reinforced how big of an issue it still is today so that readers aren't making up information about affirmative action or believing old wives tales. I chose to include minimal pictures because I feel like pictures often enough can be really unnecessary unless its informational like a poll or graph.
Another point on the checklist is how professional the site looks. The site isn’t something that is too flashy. It looks very professional. Has tabs on the side that make it easy to see and decide what specifically needs to be seen on the website. The think is even though it looks put together it doesn’t mean that the data is credible but this website took the time to place everything in the exact way it should be read it. All the information is categorized and not just placed to where
Now that we are living in an ever changing world, technology is viewed as the most resourceful tool in keeping up with the pace. Without the use of technology, communication would be limited to using mail for delivery and encyclopedias for research. Although technology has improved the way we communicate and find information for research, the information is not always valid. Unfortunately, for those of us who use the internet for shopping, research, or reading articles of personal interest the information is not treated the same as a your magazine or book. While such literature is reviewed by an editorial staff, internet literature or information can be published by anyone. In order to reap the full benefit of having the use of technology for any purpose, there are five basic criteria’s one must keep in mind as an evaluating tool for deciding whether or not the particular website is a reliable source for information.
With such large and prominent images this design could easily become overwhelmed and the text could be lost. However design is balanced out through using white text on top of pictures and using over image text away from the focus of the picture. Another way this article uses balance to add to the article’s design is by balancing out the pictures with white space. This can be seen on pages fifty-six, sixty, and sixty-one where both the text and images are separated with strips of white space. This allows for the readers eyes to rest and, as in the case of page sixty and sixty-one, helps the reader separate similar images across the pages. This is why I feel like this is the design element that is strongest in the article. Without the balance this article used the reader would become overwhelmed and lost in the sea of similar images and
Next is in terms of the design and aesthetics. Layout that being used for this website is a plain white which easier people to read the text that is in black, in contrast and suitable for the concept of showroom online. The font is also suits which is not too big and not too small to be read by people. To highlight the main subject or the main product, the font is being bold to alert customers that they choose the right one. There is no audio available for this website or even a video. But somehow, as it was a home furnishing website, most of the pictures being used by the website is in JPEG format to deliver a clear view of the products to customers.
There was a time a person would use a roadmap to get from one location to another. Some also would stop and ask for directions. Today, you seldom see paper maps and people stopping at a local gas station for directions. Many vehicles come with a navigation system that provides a real-time map of the vehicle’s current location as well as systematic directions to requested destination.
With a lack of design and readability but good navigation, The Museum of Science and Industry’s website is able to fulfill its purpose of presenting its visitors useful information. The design of the website, such as the backgrounds and slideshow, could be changed to a more simple and neutral style to let the visitors focus on the information and not be thrown off by the overwhelming amount of things that are going on. Once again, the readability of the website could also be easily improved just by increasing the font size, capitalizing important words, and by being more specific. The navigation of the website only needs a few small changes but the base for it is already there. With all information taken into consideration, the Museum of Science and Industry’s website is below average but has the potential for
Sometimes though a web designer may only want to use a picture, icon, or text to represent a link or navigational tool on a website. According to Principles of Web Design, by David and Jean Farkas, “Links must make clear their destinations the page that the link will display” (209). Using this simple principle put forth by the authors, a web designer may encounter problems when dealing with pictures and icons to represent links or navigational tools. According to Farkas, “to design links that will communicate their destination clearly, you need to think about your audience and their information needs” (Farkas 209). A picture and icon may have different connative or denotative meanings for people of a different age, gender, race, or nationality. That being stated icons and pictures have some significant advantages over text links. For example, a familiar one is processed faster, icons communicate across languages and cultures, they are visually interesting, and they often save space (Farkas 211).
The design of the Web site is very bright and appealing to the eye. Its layout is inviting and easy to navigate. Its design is consistent through all pages. There are many graphics including, photographs, illustrations, and animated buttons and GIFs. These graphics are placed in an orderly fashion and do not create a cluttered appearance. The site has its own search engine which assists in navigating throughout the site.
Having a website is a necessity nowadays, especially for people who are in business. Having a website helps promote your company’s services, for consumers to view and research your products easily, and also because internet is universal, people worldwide could purchase your products. Aside from business purposes, a website could also be built for personal use. If you’re into blogging, you can have your own site to express everything you want or feel; a website could also be used to inform people. Due to technology’s fast evolution, creating a website is now a very simple task even for those who have no background in web designing, all you need is a working computer and an internet connection and you’re ready to create your very own site!
Next, design is an important consideration. Website can provide the user with useful information but if the design and layout of the website is not attractive, it is useless. The graphic design plays an important role in attracting user to navigate the website. As for the website of Apple Malaysia, the design is simple yet
Next, you have to develop the layout of the web page. You should draw some simple sketches to display the basic “look and feel” of the web page. The use of a specific theme or template should be used to maintain the same basic look throughout the web site. Keep the reader of the web site in mind when designing the web site. Most readers will not usually wait on large graphic files to load, especially on the home page.
