High school is a rough place and in order to succeed you need a lot of influences and traits in your life. Being successful in school involves more than intelligence, you also need family, friends, a good attitude and future plans. Without these traits high school can be difficult. Not everyone has these traits handed to them, for some have to work for success. Life is like a deck of cards not everyone is handed the same hand of cards, but even the worst cards can win. Therefore, based on my skills and influences in my life, I will be highly successful in my high school career.
To begin, intelligence is one of my key factors in succeeding in high school. Out of a deck of cards I rated myself a jack for intelligence. I chose a jack to represent

My family is the most supportive people in my life and for that I rated them an ace. I rated them an ace because without my family I would not have the support and motivation I need to succeed in my high school career. They push me to do my best and do not expect anything less. Whenever I have a test my parents will help me study, for instance, my mom always helps me study for Spanish and Honors English vocab tests. She does so by reading me the word and I in return will tell her the definition. We go over the words multiple times to make sure I truly know the definitions. In high school I write a lot of essays, and I always need help to improve the essays content. Therefore, my parents will help me out and read over my essays and help me to fix any corrections necessary like spelling or grammar errors. In high school, kids are assigned a lot of projects and someone has to pay for the materials needed to complete the projects. In my case my parents help me out by buying me the materials I need, for example, I had a poem project do in Honors English and I needed a poster board, glue, markers, and glitter. The next day after telling my parents the materials I needed they went to the store and bought them for me. Without my parents help with costs at school I would not be able to complete the projects that need to be completed in a neatly …show more content…
I rated my friends an eight because we do not always get along, but they are there for me when I need. High school can be tough and having friends to help you can have many rewards. Whenever there are big tests or finals I always study with a friend or friends. We will get together and go over all of our notes and then we will help each other figure out ways to remember definitions or information in general. Most of the time projects can be done with partners, which is a big help. For my DNA model in biology I had Kailyn as my partner, which I knew I could count on her to do her part. We both did our fair share of building the model and writing down the information. Another time I had a partner for a school project is for the Lord of the Flies project. My partner was Bethanny and we put in a lot of time and effort in making our poster. Both of us found information, typed the information, and cited our work. Having a friend as a partner for a school project can be very helpful when you know you can count on them to help you get the project done right. Having friends in school is not always the ideal situation, for example, drama. When drama starts in school it can be stressful, tiring, and stupid. For
Success isn’t given, it’s earned on the track, on the field, and in the gym with blood, sweat, and the occasional fear” -Unknown. This is relevant because it is hard for students to want to play sports but also to do well in school. If high school students can’t find the time to keep their grades up or to keep a certain GPA, they should not be allowed to play sports. Students need to prove themselves to be able to play any sport and still be able to do well in school. Also, having good grades shows the coach maturity and may earn them more playing time if they are working hard in school and in practice.
It is easy to forget that a huge part of your success in college is staying healthy, keeping a sharp mind and sound body. It is very important to eat right and to maintain a routine sleeping schedule. Staying active and making sure you get enough sleep so that you can keep yourself healthy. A recent study found that walking once a day increase your memorization, which in turn helps you to do better studying.
How well did high school prepared me for college? My personal overall experience of high school was a bit disappointing because high school was not what I expected. High school was just another chapter of my life because I just learned to keep myself in the right path and continue school. Ever since my freshman year I felt like if high school was just a daycare because as usual we had the silly people around trying to capture attention from others. High school was pointless to me because I’ve always had present my parents words and they’ve proved me those words are true. In order to success you just need to try and if you can’t success the first time try it once again but next time try harder, nothing in this world is impossible its just the wanting to accomplish things.
I always try my hardest in every subject. I take the responsibility of my classes extremely seriously because I consider schoolwork to be my top priority. I also have made the honor roll multiple times. I believe that all my hard work and dedication has paid off as I am nominated for the National Honors Society. Along with responsibility of school, I also have the responsibility of fulfilling my parent’s dreams. I have seen my parents work hard their entire life so they could to make my future better. Their dream is to see me becomes a doctor one day. Ever since high school started, I put forth my best effort to succeed in the future and hopefully make their dream come true. The responsibilities given to me by my teachers and parents have pushed me to keep on working and get things done on time. As I live up to more and more my responsibilities and promises, I have gained the trust of my parents, teacher, and friends. I think for a person to be truly be successful, honestly is important in academics and other areas of life along with dedication to accomplish your
Many students are struggling in college. According to the New York Times Web site, only 33 percent of the college students are graduating in six years. Obviously students still need much help to succeed in order to get where they want to go. Although college can be challenging, I am going to succeed by using advice from experts, by developing strategies and ideas, and by taking advantage of the benefits offered by my college.
Everyone wants to better themselves in life…right? No one wants to graduate high school and be stuck living with their parents or only make minimal wage. There are plenty of ways to have a better life, one in which is attending college. If a person attends college, they have a more likely chance of making more money, being more successful, and securing their future financially. Going to college not only leaves someone with better opportunities but it can instill in a person responsibilities, persistency and work ethic. All of these things are important unless a person is born into a rich family and are automatically given a job, the rest of civilization has to work and that is where college comes into play.
High school is the beginning of a new chapter for every student. It is the start of a right path for young adults. It not only marks a big achievement to finish high school, but it is a great stepping stone to higher education and career opportunities. It is through hard work that students make it to the end and hopefully are able to continue higher education. Many students make it through easily, but many struggle during the process and decide or are even forced to leave their education.
A good friendship with someone else can be challenging to find especially in school. Valuing each other, plays a huge role day to day because it shows how good of a friendship myself and one of my close friends have together. Also, being a better person in general can benefit every situation because it shows much you may care for the other person and how they respond to your actions. Trustworthy friends are the best kind to find because they can be there for you and myself could be there for them. As a result, being their supporters in anything can make you have their support as well if you’re not feeling one hundred percent all of the time.
It is a very well-known fact that there is a fine line between education and success. Success is a word that is very loosely defined, but is normally associated with education in a very simplistic way. In most cases, people put success and education in the same sentence with the traditional association of attending a college or university, graduating with a degree and moving forward with a career choice. But what happens when education and success are associated in a different, much more complex way? What happens when there is a negative association between education and success?
They have money saved so that I can get into college. My mom has helped by getting involved with the school district I am attending. She goes the extra mile by getting to know my teachers so that she can stay informed regarding if I am doing good or bad in my classes which, makes me want to do all of my work. So if they keep up what they are doing I should be good until I am off to college and on my own.
To most of us, they say they can spot success at first glance. Generally by the car one drives or how one is dressed. Some might see it by how healthy or how happy one feels. Merriam Webster's Dictionary states that success is “the fact of getting wealth, respect, or fame.” If one where to adopt this definition of success, one might go on to living a life of materialism. This mindset is deceitful and will only reward you with short term happiness, like a drug addict searching for a quick fix. For one to be ultimately successful, one must be able to overcome hardships and possess qualities like integrity, pride and patience which no amount of money in the world could buy. These qualities will make anyone strive in most, if not all the difficult obstacles one must face in life.
The true definition of success is the accomplishment of an aim or purpose. Although, many people have different perceptions of success. Success is judged by the individuals themselves. Success can be defined in many ways including: wealth, happiness, fame, etc. Success can be anything from material goods to concepts. It all depends on your concept and how you achieve your goals. You have to have persistence within yourself. Varying on your profession, you will need a certain skill level. Your definition of success can be suitable best for you, but not for others. It is about truly not giving up, reaching your full potential, and self-fulfillment.
A recent failure that has changed how I go about my daily life is one that many college freshman experience in their first year. In high school I was a very good student, but I did not have to put in a lot of effort to get the grades that I wanted. I would joke with my friends and say that high school taught me how to put in the least amount of effort, and still get the maximum result. All of my teachers told me, as they did every student, that college was going to be different and if you do not put in more effort it would be very difficult. I knew this coming into school, but I am not sure if part of me wanted to prove people wrong, or if I actually was just adjusting to college life. I did not study as much as I should of, and as a result my grades suffered. Luckily I did not completely ruin my grade point average, but since first semester I have completely changed my study habits. This has taught a much needed lesson about hard work, and I am determined to never again fail at my studies. I am the kind of person that learns a lot from failures. My dad has always told me it is ok to make a mistake, but never make the same mistake twice. This I a motto that I live by.
Time flies so fast. Looking back, my high school is just like a movie, a lot of things happened. High School is four years of growing up and probably a time in your life where you go through the most changes. In high school you are able to discover yourself and find out who you are as a person. Each year is special and unique in their own way. My journey through high school was a tough one, especially because I decided to not only focus on academic work but also to invest quality time in extra curriculum activities. I wanted more than just academic excellence; I wanted to be a leader, I wanted to add value to every aspect of my life, I wanted a rounded education and not just mere schooling. My success story is what I will like to share with you; how I really made it and how this defines my personality. My journey in High School was scary, exciting, and successful.
Thank you. Thank you for accepting me on April 20th, 2012. Thank you for allowing me to grow as a designer, student, and human being in the past four years. And lastly, thank you for accepting, welcoming, and investing in me as your student.
