“Junior year is the most stressful year of high school” I hear all the seniors and graduates say to me. Although it is already frustrating enough, junior year becomes ten times harder when I decided to be a part of Student Senate. This year, Student Senate is very different, and it has become more difficult and extremely demanding compared to last year. As my third year of being a senator, this year has left a negative impact on my views of Student Senate. The people are inexperienced, bossy, and apathetic. The biggest, and main problem that has caused Student Senate to be so unenjoyable for me this year is that most of my classmates are inexperienced. As stated above, there are many new senators in my class, and most of them joined because they expected it to be an easy course that could be spent as relaxation time. They are not willing to participate and help unless our teacher orders them to. Nicole Jackson is never interested in offering her mind to benefit and help others. She says she wants to be in the class but she does not want to spend her time doing any more work than she has to. Nicole refused to sign up to sell Davenport West spirit wear and other school spirit items. The more money we are able to earn, the more money we can spend on items such as homecoming decorations. It was rude of her to not offer to help. Considering that she is a member of the class, she should be willing to do so. Student Senate is about being involved and wanting to improve the school. As a Student Senate member, it is shallow to be viewed as a leader by the school, and yet not even volunteer to support us in the classroom. Having senators who are unwilling to participate is frustrating, and it does not result in an efficient group of
