This research study will discuss the causes and symptoms of stress among adolescents. There is positive stress and negative stress that can result an adolescent not wanting to be with peers, family, and friends. The adolescent that is experiencing these chronic factor will need to find help to alleviate the negative symptoms and find some positive ways that will remove whatever situation he or she experienced in life while growing up as a child. I will discuss and compare three literature reviews of the findings on stress and what methods were found to be a positive factor to remedy the situation the adolescent is experiencing. “Some amount of stress is healthy, but excessive stress, left untreated, can lead to anxiety and illness” (University of Maryland Medical Center [UMMC]. I believe stress is expected to be a part of one’s life. I am sure that before the child is born in the mothers’ womb he or she is already experiencing stress. Some stress is common and essential for existence. Stress aids children in developing dexterities that is essential to manage and adjust to fresh and possibly intimidating circumstances thru life. Reinforcement from parents, families, and especially caretakers is required for teenagers to acquire in what way to retort to stress in a physical and sensitive approach. The positive aspect of stress disappears when it is strong enough to overcome the adolescent’s capacity to handle successfully. Rigorous and constant stress can have an impact to different briefs and lengthy duration on undesirable health outcomes. My term paper is on the topic of stress. Not just normal stress but I am focusing on stress with in women, young and old. For this term paper I am using three articles that are studies from professional psychologist on how stress with other conditions affects the women's health and emotion's of women. My last article is an interview form of six women with significant stress which induced health issues and they fought back, and developed their own arsenal of stress-busting habits. I will summaries the articles in the following paragraphs.

Teenagers stress. Academics, relationships, and home lives play a huge part in stress–and often depression–in adolescents. While only “30 percent of students were at risk of suicide”, there is an estimated “60 to 70 percent of teenagers are affected negatively by stress” (Boyce 1)(Barrows 1). Every person copes with stress differently, some better than others. While some teenagers turn to religion, others regrettably turn to illegal substances such as marijuana, cigarettes, alcohol, and some even misuse stimulants. Every man did not escape the pressures of life. This coincides with the idiom, not the earth where the rain and stormy seas that do not. However, the strain varies its level. Stress in adults may result think family problems, financial or career, while teenagers are facing pressure may be related to education, relationships with friends or family-related problems. For some people, stress may bring success and happiness in life, while others consider stress as a source of misery and suffering to the pressures that led to the end of life. As a student, I was not spared from the stress caused by various factors, especially factor studies. Therefore, before too late, I have taken steps to deal with stress. As we know, there are various types of stress including financial difficulties, long wait, and domestic conflict, due to bullying, low self-esteem, work load, physical illness, traffic jam, environment uncomfortable and tragedy.
The teenage years are said to be the hardest of all. The typical student in high school has weight after weight on their shoulders, from parents to friends to dating relationships to school work to figuring out the course of their life ahead. Throughout our life, it can be marked by developmental changes in every domain of life: our physical, cognitive, social, personalities, and morals. Due to some important researchers such as Erickson, Freud, Piaget we are able to understand the development of each of these domains. Each stage of it’s life has it’s own difficulties and events that can determine a person’s life (Mogler, 2008). These extra pressures that adolescents have been taking on are directly affecting their spiritual, mental, physical, and emotional health and often come from adults such as their parents. Clark tells us that while there are everyday signs of stress “such as recurring headaches, insomnia, or lack of ability to concentrate” (Clark 139), there are other “more serious problems…” that teens are turning to “…such as eating disorders, substance abuse, self-injury, and suicide.” (Clark 139) Everywhere we turn, we see adolescents dealing with issues like these and quite often it is due to excessive amounts of stress. Stress is taking a toll on the lives of our present-day adolescent generation around the world and as people who seek to minister to this generation, we must look to Scripture to see what God says on this topic.
Adolescence is a period of transition between the ages of 13 – 19, after childhood but before adulthood. Adolescence can be a difficult period in a teenager's life. Many teenagers do not know how to react or how to adapt to all of the physical, social, and psychological changes that occur during this period. Some adolescents pass through this period without problem, while for others, it is a period of torture, discomfort, and anxiety. With all the biological and social pressures that occur during adolescence, many teens fail to assume their identity. Sometimes family and society does not help to make this task easier. Challenges teenagers face due to biology and society are body image, hormonal changes, social and parental pressures, family problems, school pressures, alcohol, drug abuse, homosexuality, and suicide.
Being a high school student, I stress. All high school students stress over the loads of homework and the big tests as well as having jobs and being involved in sports at the same time. I am not experienced with it, but I believe any stressed student or adult should smoke. The stories I have heard and have been told is that smoking is a stress reliever. It is worth the wrinkles that make you look 50 although you are 30 years old or worth the bad teeth and breath.
Academic stress is very common in student’s lives. Many students assume that making the academic experience their first priority now, will increase the chance of success in the future. School is an important aspect in most teenagers lives and by being so important a teenager can become depressed very effortlessly at school or because of school. Academic stress can take complete control over a student’s life, sometimes leading to depression. At school this may lead to poor attendance, a significant drop in grades or even annoyance with schoolwork, in a good student. There are many studies that have been performed to prove the correlation between responsibility in school and academic performance being the cause to academic stress. Just like there are numerous causes to academic there are also numerous cures, such as changing mind set and behavior. Academic stress is something majority of students in school can relate to and the cause of it can be something small as a bad grade on an evaluation, It will enforce the student to try harder in the future but it will for sure cause some sort of stress, even if it is for a moment. Stress from school can be one of the most essential causes of teen depression.
