Stop Motion using a camera – Stop-motion animation involves taking a process of pictures of a model, then moving it a small amount and taking the next photo. After this you then put all of the photos together and the small movements of the model appear to be a human-type action.
Stop motion animation is basically just a series of still photographs taken one after another. Objects are moved and filmed picture by picture to emphasise small movements that they make. Some examples of stop motion films are the original King Kong film and Star Wars. These were made using many small objects and puppets. In this time this was the only way that that could bring immovable objects to life on screen.

A few examples of cel based animation is any of the Disney movies especially Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. All cels were hand drawn and painted in the film.

As a renowned public figure, Walt Disney is credited most for his originality in creating animated cartoon characters and intriguing storyline. The title of one Walt Disney’s biography written by Neal Gabler is a good summary of the public’s opinion on this prominent animator: “[Walt Disney:] The Triumph of The American Imagination”. The kinetograph would take 40 pictures within a few seconds. Thomas Edison would then speed the films up to look like they were in constant motion. This is how all video cameras work and the origin was Thomas Edison’s kinetograph. The entire basis of motion pictures is an illusion. When the film strips are sped up, it gives the viewer the illusion that they are watching the event live and all at once.
Large animating companies such as Pixar may have fooled you into thinking animation is an easy art, but it is truly not. Animating is a painfully slow progress that constantly disappoints you with its extremely time consuming needs for a, once thought, easily accomplished scene in a movie you wanted. Creating animations may bestow life unto the ideas and characters living inside of your head, but it is all in exchange for your own sanity--especially when you animate alone. Animating by one’s self is absoluting dreadful, as it takes up an unmeasurable amount of time and steals an awful amount of one's soul.
