Peter and the Wolf was directed by Suzie Templeton in 2006 and made in Poland. The short film was inspired by a composition made by Sergei Prokofiev from the USSR. In 2008, the film won an Academy Award winner in 2008 for Best Animated Short Film. The film starts with no music, but as the plot continues music becomes an important part of the film. The music started to depend on the character, in other words, each character had its own music. No music was needed to know that the characters were complex and intricate. Peter and the wolf had various similarities and those similarities is what led Peter to free the wolf. Both characters are seen as loners, scared and bullied by the same people. In addition, both characters have the same eyes, which you can make the connection that they are link together in some way and have the same fears and personality. The film was completely done with stop motion except for one item, the balloon. Stop motion was the main choice since the director’s made a name for herself by being very good at stop-motion in her previous works. Stop-motion and having the camera move smoothly and seamless made the short film have a certain fluidity that it’s not typical seen in …show more content…
Firstly, the crew were looking for a place they could create and where wolfs could actually be sighted. The second reason the film was set in Russia, it may be a salute, an acknowledgement to what may the film a reality, Sergei Prokofiev the russian composer. I found there to be two messages in Peter and the Wolf, the first one being courage since without Peter’s courage he wouldn’t have save the cat or the bird and wouldn’t have caught the wolf. The second lesson I saw at the end of the short film was forgiveness and kindness. Peter decided to let the wolf be free than sell him to a butcher shop or the circus, even though the wolf killed Peter’s closest
Tim Burton uses Music and sound when you see Edward in trouble it starts to play intense music like in the scene where he went down the hallway and went to the bathroom and cut the bathroom curtains it starts playing intense music every time he gets mad it kinda sounds like
Peter the Great was trying ultimately to make the Russian Empire more Europeanized or Westernized. He wanted to protect and enhance the vulnerable Russian Empire. Peter the Great saw that other European countries are colonizing in other regions like the New World, Asia, and Africa. Peter saw this as a threat and didn’t want for the Europeans to conquer Russia. Through decrees to shave and provisions on dress, he was trying to make them European. He also wanted to make military and economic reforms that could help the empire itself. If they built factories, they didn’t need to get supplies from Europe.
The sound effects and music for the play was recorded to go with the actions of the character’s and whatever was taking place on stage; for example, when Ian and Chuck would play a game since there was no television they needed sound effects to better depict them playing a game. The music used in the play was relevant to today’s period and fit in well with the scenes, like when Ian says he’s going to get a job the song “I’m going to win” fit in perfectly, because it showed his determination. They also used music to help...
“Fear is a survival instinct; fear in its way is a comfort for its means that somewhere hope is alive” (Sturgeon). In the novel, Lord of the Flies, by William Golding and the movie, Castaway, directed by Robert Zemeckis, both stories involve a person(s) getting stranded on an island. In both the novel and the movie, a group of boys and an individual demonstrate that over time that fear and the will to survive is the only thing that is driving them to make the decisions they make. They will do things that display savagery and uncivilized behavior in order to beat nature. While some may argue that the urge to gain power is what leads one to make decisions and act upon it, it is clear that fear and the will to survive is what many people act upon
Tim Burton has been known for capturing and using an eerily interesting form of set design/animation in his films and this own is the crown jewel of his artistic work. This movie originated from a poem written by Tim Burton that, over the years, was developed into a full length stop motion film and released to the public in 1993. This stop motion film was so good that it was
In both novels, the main characters are isolated from any form of true civilisation. In Lord of the Flies, the boys find themselves on a desolate island which is devoid of any human life due to a plane crash, whereas in The Road the Man and Boy live in a bleak, destroyed America in which almost the entire population has been wiped out due to an unnamed natural disaster. Because of the lack of resources and essentials, it is inevitable that the main characters have to find means of surviving – in Lord of the Flies; this is mainly through hunting and building shelter and in The Road, the Man and the Boy trek along the barren landscape in search for any remaining food they can find.
J.F Clarke said that "The bravest of individuals is the one who obeys his or her conscience". This statement means that the special people, who listen to their conscience, are the bravest because it is not easy to listen and act on what your conscience tells you because many people are afraid of the consequences of doing so. In The Lord of the Flies, by William Golding, and Of Mice and Men, by John Steinbeck, the characters truly do show this trait of being brave. I agree with the statement because I know myself that it isn't easy to act on what your conscience tells you. Many times the consequences stop me and also it is very hard to base a decision on pure "instinct".
...ng the Quidditch match the music is celebratory and joyful. “Fluffy’s Harp” was a song played with a harp and a contrabassoon. The contrabassoon mimicked Fluffy the three-headed dog and the harp continuously played a lullaby. “Hedwig’s theme” was a song written for Hedwig, Harry’s owl. The song is light and airy. John Williams adds magic and tells the story of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone through his composed music.
Stone Mother describes the tale of a mother of four children who, in an attempt to disassemble her children’s fighting, separates them. She instructs the siblings to light a fire, one from the north and one from the south. The siblings directed to go to the south ultimately never lit a fire causing the Stone Mother to cry enough tears to form a lake out of worry for her children. The origin story of Stone Mother describes all the criteria mentioned in “Native American Traditions.” For example, Stone Mother ties in ecological aspects with moral characteristics (Stone Mother’s tears that form the lake) and emphasizes the importance of both sibling harmony and mother-child bond (Stone Mother separating her children because
“Fables” Introduction: Now I know a little bit about fables, after doing a little bit of research in my English class. I know that fables are short stories that center on animals. Fables also all have morals at the end, stated outright, or inferred. These morals are sometimes called Aesops, after the original creator of the fables. Aesop was a Greek slave who wrote a lot of fables.
The Importance Of Differences Today’s society forces people to think, act, and dress a certain way, but there is always someone out there that doesn’t follow what the majority of the people are doing in the society. A friend once told me to never let someone change your thoughts or opinions on something you truly believe in. There are misfits all over the world hoping they’ll fit in and express their own thoughts without someone judging them. Think about the people you interact with daily, for example, your classmates, co-workers, or just people in general. Isn’t there always one person that seems a little out of place?
Different from other types of films, the music in Phantom of the Opera was used by all the characters, as a way to tell their part of the story. The music created a convincing surrounding for the film, guided the audiences. The music was constantly a signifier of emotion, as the characters expressed their feelings through the songs. The music score was an emotional and scary score that tied into their diegetic/non-diegetic singing, giving the main characters an identity, specifying situations and places to help connect certain points. When we hear the dark music play throughout the movie, it plays a certain theme, that theme gives the viewers a clear hint of who or what the music is talking about. Another example of signifier of emotion was in The Devil Wears Prada, where the film used either fast upbeat songs for when Andy walks all around the city, running errands for Miranda, or romantic alternative music when Andy is with her boyfriend and true friends (The Phantom of the Opera/The Devil Wears
The film Wolf, starring Jack Nicolson, Michelle Phieffer, and James Spader is one of my very favorite films. I consider it a horror/ suspense film. Which made choosing either Fargo or The King's Speech a tough decision. I chose The King's Speech. Will Randall, an editor at a publishing house in New York, is bitten by a wolf on his way back from meeting with a client in New England.
The role of music in modern film has a large impact on the audience. Wether its creating suspense, release, building up a a scene, breaking down a scene, or attracting attention to certain characters or objects, music undoubtably makes a difference on how these movies are presented. When looking at music in modern film, three general tendencies can be noted from each example. The incorporation of the principles established by Wagner’s music dramas; the assimilation of ever-changing trends in popular music; and the constant search for fresh, new sounds, including resources from across the globe, are the three general tendencies noted. While each composer created an individual sound, these tendencies are found in each listening example presented
There are thousands of movie composers in the music industry, a few who triumph and whose work is well known to almost half of the world. One example of that can be the famous Maestro John Williams. John Williams is the musician for Jaws, Harry Potter, Star Wars, Jurassic Park, E.T and lots more. But there is a piece which everyone recognizes, and that is the theme from the movie Jaws. Imagine Jaws without the music. People would not feel scared; they would laugh at the plastic shark. And that is why music is one of the most important elements in cinema. John Williams in a late interview said this: “The music is part of a whole, which if I try as a composer to take that part of the whole, like in a concerto. I would not succeed, because the attention would go only for the music and not for the picture” (John Williams Interview). In Jaws, the music blends with the picture and acting; there are no imbalances. The picture and the music need to be in perfect harmony. Therefore, in Jaws, every time the daring melody comes out; the audience knows something bad is going to happen, and the music may anticipate a particular situation, but without the music overpowering the actors and sound effects.
