I walked into our basement, my parents built a fully functional lab down there, we even had our own telescope. We had three actually from different countries. It was a spacious room, white walls covered mostly with maps of all the places we’ve traveled to, I walked over to my favorite one, it was a blown up version of the one in the book me and my parents drew out together. ‘My Very Excellent Mother Just Made Us Nine Pizzas’ I said. Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Neptune, Pluto. I thought. It was something I took away from that school I went to an acronym for the planets. I noticed a little post-it note outside Pluto in the corner it said ‘Asguard’ Asguard that’s in one of my mythology books. Why is it on our board, it dose not exist, does it? I looked at the note just puzzled. I shrugged it off and turned around to a door with a keypad and a camera in it. I grabbed my backpack and I walked up to the door and tapped a note on the door. ‘Identify yourself’ the door talked. Tight security on this one huh ‘Stella Louise Archer’ I said to the door. Then the key pad came to...
“The Fire,” chapter two of the novel “Kindred” by Octavia E. Butler is about how Dana survives in the past after she is conscious of where and when she is. After saving the boy, Rufus, from burning his house, she discovered that she has gone to the past, 1815, and that Rufus was her ancestor. That is until he meets characters such as Clarisse, Beatty, and the academics. Montag’s understanding of the nature of fire changes as he becomes enlightened through his relationships.
The immense power of a text is gained through the distinctive ideas portrayed within. John Foulcher, Australian poet and teacher, outlines his observations of the environment surrounding him and the conflict within it through his poetry. These poems include ideas such as the brutality in nature trumping its beauty, as represented in the poems For the Fire and Loch Ard Gorge. As well as how observing nature's savagery can give insight into human mortality, as is prominently expressed in Loch Ard Gorge, and lastly the mundanity and complexity of society compared to the simplistic divinity of the natural world as displayed in Summer Rain. The distinctive ideas portrayed in these texts create powerful meaning and affect those reading them, allowing
. Open your book to page 125. Research paintings by Italian artist Giuseppe Arcimboldo. This painting “The Four Elements - Fire” is an allegory of fire. What lesson or message does the painting seem to suggest about the meaning of fire? (1 paragraph). The painting “The Fire” by Giuseppe Arcimboldo is made of fire, candles, rifles, and different materials such as sticks and what looks to be turquoise. This painting to me gives off the feeling of a strong warrior or just something very hot and strong. The use of everyday objects put together to create a human looking face brings together a picture that means more as if a person was made of fire, candle holders, and guns creating the illusion of a portrait.
During the ball Alma’s father has put together she found something that was meaningful to her, the “solar system”. She has never seen something so exciting and she wanted to be a part of it so“She ran over to the garden wall and cried up to the
A couple of months after I practiced forming rain and air, I decided to start on the harder elements earth and fire. I figured after I got the basics down I would be able to play with all the elements together somehow maybe, I didn’t know quite yet. But I learned to not really jump ahead of myself after discovering my magic.

A person's next move can affect them and someone in their life without them even realizing it. So why would they want to make the decision that could result in a sudden death in their family ? It is only right they be held accountable for the steps that lead up to or occurred after, they got entrapped in a life or death situation unless, it happens to be an accident.
My clock’s hour hand hovered somewhere around the 11 P.M. mark, and my parents, brother, and sister had all already tucked in for the night. Rumour had it that the meteor shower was going to be at it’s brightest and most vivid at around 2 A.M., and I was determined to wait it out. Reclining comfortably on my bed, I kept one eye constantly on the clock while texting every friend who appeared to be awake at that hour. Eventually, even they soon clocked out, leaving me truly alone to wait. It still wasn’t quite 2 A.M. yet, and all this waiting around bored me immensely. The time ticked slowly, steadily onward, while I kept myself entertained playing games on my phone. When I finally tore my eyes from the screen and to the clock, it was already half-past two. Fearing that I may have missed the meteor shower in its entirety, I rushed as quickly and quietly as I could force myself to manage, through my house and out the back door into the backyard. I turned my head to the skies and stared expectantly. There were stars alright, yup. They were certainly pretty. But I hadn’t stayed awake for hours on end for some stars that I had already seen thrice over. I scanned every corner of the night sky for anything that might resemble a flying space rock, but found none. I realized that if I wanted a glimpse of those meteors, I would need to wait some more. Though the prospect of having to wait even further disheartened me, I
I run down stairs as quick as possible, there is no time to waste. I open the office door and plop down in the chair in front of my new 2153 Model Astrocomputer. After turning on the super fast computer and atomic laser printer I begin to work. When the 3-D super pixel screen comes up I immediately click on the blue U for Universal Explorer. I plug in my Interstellar Satellite Modem. I go to the top of the screen where the word DESTINATION: jumps out at me. I suddenly get a rush of excitement all throughout my body. Finally I am going to get the perfect prom dress! I click on the destination box and begin to type- www.
Even though it was a gloomy day, Margot was happy as can be and ready to go to school. As Margot was walking up to her seat with a smile on her face, she backed up to the front of the classroom. “My mother told me some great news last night,” Margot continued, “There’s no need to feel guilty, I’m moving back to Earth tomorrow!” The children looked up from their desks with shocked expressions. They all turned to each other and smiled in relief. The children were happy that Margot would get to see the sun again, she would even see it everyday. As Margot was packing to leave, William came over to say goodbye. William was the last person Margot saw on
In the story "To Build a Fire" by Jack London, there are three principal themes. They are respecting nature, and considering results of actions. The main theme, or universal truth, is heeding warnings. The themes are shown through the character and his actions. The main character in the story had an attitude that prevented him from heeding internal and external warnings. He did not respect nature's power, and therefore he paid with his life. His attitude was arrogant and careless.
“The leaves are falling.”- i told my mother. She gave me a quick grin and faced the streets once more. The ride was quiet, tension choked the air. We passed a place where caged things scratch walls. Then yielded. I exited the van, my feet touching the ground - i felt as if i had touched the surface of Mars. Together we walked. Walked into a small corridor soon revealing itself as a larger rectangular room lit by florescent beams. There were tons of people, all seated of course. I gingerly pressed a finger smudged button which extruded the accountant's desk. And out came a tiny paper with a number printed on it with faded ink.
“Hello… Noah?” I heard, “Would you like to participate in our experiment or not?” My daydream stopped. Everything that had happened was being imagined. Somehow my mind had made it all up. I could have sworn it was real-the laboratory, the explosion, and all the pain. But it was all in my head. “No thank you!” I quickly responded. I hung up the phone, ran straight into the kitchen, and celebrated my 26th birthday.
The night before the first class, I was too excited to sleep. Next day, after nearly five hours of lectures in a row, I dragged my jaded body toward the physics lab, where I would be the focus of attention. The moment I stepped into the laboratory, some amazing chemical vapors got into my head and tripped me into illusion. I was not in a lab, but in a boardroom. The throne was located in front of six evenly distributed council boards, overhead legendary heroes placed their images on the side wall, and Corpus Jurist tidily lay in the bookshelves. Walking with a stiff and pompous manner, I told myself I ruled this room for evermore. Sitting on the throne, I picked up a chalk, smiled, and welcomed the coming subjects.
