The closer I get to my high school graduation, the more I desire to continue my education in a Christian environment. I have gone to a Christian school for my whole life, and I am grateful for my experience because I am constantly surrounded by peers and teachers who love the Lord. A Christian school environment has fostered personal spiritual growth. Nonetheless, my spiritual life is not finished growing, which is why I am determined to attend a Christian college. The reason I desire to further continue my academic journey in a Christian environment is to enable myself to grow in my relationship with Christ. Entry to community college allows just that. Any student desiring education, preparation, and self-discovery does not need to look any further than community college, which, for some students, is the only shot at the college experience. On top of this, community colleges provide opportunities like no college—public or private—could. Community colleges provide introductory courses that could not be found in regular institutions; this allows students to explore and get their feet under them. To find and pursue an interest proves more difficult at a college because intense classes are provided from the beginning, whether students have declared a major or have yet to decide. One major decision one must make after exiting high school is whether to go to a university or go to community college. In the article “Two Year Are Better Than Four,” written by Liz Addison. She expressed her opinion on the significance of community colleges in comparison with the university. She stated that community college do not receive the acknowledgment and appreciation that they deserve. “what’s the matter with colleges?,” (Addison 255). although, there is a lot to agree with within the article there are some faulty statements that two year colleges don’t offer the best education possible and that community college are more engaging and individualized for a student and the price is also much less expensive than a university education.
My faith fuels my confidence that everything will turn out as it should, and emboldens me to take the first step in any endeavor. I am secure in who I am as a person and know that my values will not falter in college. I believe I would be a good candidate for the Wells Scholarship and that I would represent Westfield High School in a positive light through my drive to succeed and the integrity that I possess.

For example, I would suggest that they use ideas and scriptures that they learned in Bible study or in church within the past weeks of assignments. This will help to keep students engaged with the material and faith based concepts that they have learned within the weeks. Also, I think promoting attending CBU or church based activities for assignments can help students learn course material as well as grow in their faith. I believe that faith integration is an important component that CBU offers that many other universities do not. I can honestly speak to how beneficial it was for me to complete my program at CBU. I not only learned a wealth of knowledge in the counseling field but I grew as a Christian, which is something that I wish to pass on to future students.
While other colleges tend to focus on sports and extracurricular programs, Samford is a Christian university whose focus is on helping students to grow in their walk with Christ. Multiple opportunities exist to serve in churches and the surrounding community. Whether attending governor's school, or touring the graphic design department, I have felt at home on Samford's campus. I sense God's presence each time I visit and I want to be a part of the experience.
My goal is to implement a similar program at the high school level where students are exposed to this level of support and companionship; all united in the same goal of helping each other succeed. It is also essential for students to witness what college is like before stepping inside for the first day of class. To see what college is like, and to experiment the environment goes a long way for students who are new to the experience. Academics has always been an important part of my life. Ever since I was a young child my parents have pushed me to lead good life academically. All throughout grade school I have had decent grades (generally speaking in the nineties or above), and I owe this, at least partly, to my parent's determination to give me the best possible education. I also owe this to my will to be at the top of my academic game. This was naturally quite easy for me up until my senior year of high school. When my senior year came around, there was a lot of pressure on me to make a lot of life changing decisions. When all of this was put on me, the last thing that i wanted to do was change the way i was living. I loved the way my life was, and going away from home to college wasn't something that i felt i was ready to do. Because of this i decided to enroll in Genesee Community College, which is about five minutes away from my house.
As a senior, I knew that it was time to apply for college. SLU and many other colleges were among my choices. What was hard was determining which school would be right for me. After months of thinking and discussing with my parents, I decided to attend Saint Louis University. A big reason why I decided to attend SLU is based on its Jesuit mission. The mission is all about providing a balanced college experience to each and everyone of the students. I wondered how SLU’s Jesuit mission would impact my experience at the university.
For my entire pre-college education, I attended Evangel Heights Christian Academy. Despite our constant complaints about dress code and school lunches, we as students all appreciate the pleasant atmosphere that Evangel Heights offers. Although a great school offering a solid Christian education and providing teachers that genuinely cares for their students, Evangel Heights often traps students in a sheltered environment where students build a wall shielding themselves from surrounding schools and communities. I perceived this fact when I realized that several of my friends in high school did not know anyone outside of their own family and the sixty students in the high school. Southeastern University is a private, Co-ed, Christian university. SEU’s main focus is to equip their students to be a next generation of leaders so that they can enter the real world as influential servants to their careers and communities. Southeastern university offers a plentiful amount of study programs, even the program I am interested in which is Human services. I selected this school First because it is a Christian college, and Second because of the programs of study. I chose to go to a Christian college because I grew up in a Christian household and because I believe in Jesus. I also chose Southeastern University because of the programs of study. SEU was one of the few colleges that had a program of study that I was interested in.

Since starting high school, I knew my passion was to become an engineer, but I wanted myself to have additional options to choose rather than merely walk a linear line I wanted to test my abilities and see precisely how much I can handle. Therefore, I started filling up my high school schedule with AP and pre-AP classes, not because I wanted to show them off for future universities that I plan to go to like my classmates but just for the sole purpose of seeing how much I can handle and keep on going.
