After J.J. Abrams wowed audiences with 2015's "Star Wars: The Force Awakens", it seemed impossible that a sequel could be any better. However, director and writer Rian Johnson's "Star Wars: The Last Jedi", has just beaten the odds by not only being a great sequel, but possibly the best entry in the "Star Wars" franchise.
Picking up immediately where "The Force Awakens" left off, "The Last Jedi" follows Rey (Daisy Ridley) as she attempts to persuade Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) to train her as a Jedi before the evil First Order brings a swift end to the Resistance. Meanwhile, ex-stormtrooper Finn (John Boyega), hot-headed pilot Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac), and newcomer Rose Tico (Kelly Marie Tran), construct a plan to escape and brind down the First Order.
Johnson's writing excelled in this film, and in general, made great use of its 152 minute run time. However, there were some moments that felt a little too long or just downright boring. One subplot in particular, just seemed like unnecessary filler that could have been buffed out to make room for a far more interesting or compelling chapter in the story. Fortunately, the cast provided great segues to more interesting or relevant moments, while also giving some terrific performances along the way.

In the previous installment, the two met very briefly before engaging in a lightsaber battle. In "The Last Jedi," the two seem to share more than mere skill with an ancient weapon. They are telepathically linked through the force, meaning that they can communicate with each other, much like Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker are seen doing in the original trilogy. This provides an interesting relationship between the two characters and luckily Ridley and Driver are at the top of their acting game, ushering powerful and compelling performances, making the relationship all the more
Nicole Hendricks USP 107 Final IDs Professor James Ingram. “Empire Strikes Back” Mayors Source: Lecture 18 Meaning: An “Empire Strikes Back” mayor refers to the white republican mayor that often times comes into office following a minority mayor. In cases such as the “Empire Strikes Back” mayor, the minority mayor has failed to hold forth to the issues that he intended to solve upon being elected. The minority mayor was elected in order to improve racial tensions. Yet, the minority mayor must somewhat “dilute” his stance in order to appeal to multiple ethnicities, rather than just his.
The introductory moments are somewhat confusing, and it takes about fifteen or twenty minutes to get the characters and situations straight. Madeleine Stowe's British accent is of the "now-you-hear-it, now-you-don't" variety, although her performance pretty much makes up for this inconsistency. Finally, the photography surrounding the waterfall is unconvincing. Other than those few things the film was great. From beginning to end, there isn't a weak performance. Finally, there's the story, which, while not all that complex, is of epic nature. At first I wasn’t expecting this movie to be good but by the end of the last battle I knew that The Last of the Mohicans is a memorable motion picture adventure, and one of the best films I’ve ever seen.
Rogue One not only surpasses the other films in the franchise, but it does so in a clear and well thought out way. It's a film that had no reason to exist but it does meaningfully with a concise plot. The exposition event is when Director Orson Krennic invades Jyn Else's home and tries to make her father Galen Erso work with the Empire. This ends poorly and the Empire killed Galens wife and takes Galen into their ship while Jyn barely escapes. Rising action then takes place when Jyn, K-2SO and Cassian arrives at the holy city of Jedha. They soon discover Saw Gerrera and find out that they need to get the Death Star plans. They then head to Eadu to find Galen Erso and after sometime arguing head to the Imperial’s base on Scariff. The climax occurs when Jyn Erso is about to send the Death Star plans to the rebellion but confronts Krennic. Cassian defeats him and he goes with Jyn to the beach while the watch the planet blows up. The falling action is when Darth vader inceps the Death Star plans but the rebels escape. The resolution is when Prisons Leia is asked what the plans mean and she says Hope.
My reasons for this opinion are all because of the Disney movie Star Wars: The Force Awakens. First, the two movies The Force Awakens and the New Hope have the exact same plots. In all The other movies of Star Wars each plot is very different. In The Phantom Menace, the first movie in the Star Wars saga, the plot is that
In his article titled, “Star Wars and the Roman Empire,” Martin M. Winkler writes on Lucas’ trilogy and compares the storylines in the films to the Roman empire while placing focus on the similarities
In the movie Star Wars IV: A New Hope the main theme is that everyone has goals, and everyone has challenges that are in the way of those goals. Luke Skywalker had many goals throughout the movie, and he faces many challenges that are roadblocks in each of his goals. Along with challenges, there are also helping hands that may guide someone towards their goal, or give someone motivation to complete their goal along with directly helping someone at times. Luke also experiences this throughout the movie, with every challenge ththere is some form of motivation or helping hand.

Quite possibly one of the most iconic openings in cinematic history is “A Long time ago in a galaxy far far away.” Of course, I am referring to Star Wars. It is such a fascinating and great movie going experience. There have been a total of seven Star Wars films, but in this essay I am going to be focusing on Star Wars: Episode 3- Revenge of the Sith. This film was written and directed by George Lucas and of the science fiction genre. Revenge of the Sith was released in theaters on May 19, 2005.
Star Wars is a science fiction adventure novel. The symbolism and characterization was really excellent in the story. The story gives a great look into the future as it has many different types of things we have not yet invented; blaster rifles, space ships that go the speed of light, fat alien slugs, and beam swords. The plot of the story sucks you into the novel and makes you want to continue reading the novel.
Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back. Dir. Irvin Kershner. By Leigh Brackett and Lawrence Kasdan. Perf. Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, and Billy Dee Williams. 20th Century-Fox, 1997.
Star Wars (1977) is one of the world’s most successful films of all time. It has made a terrific impact on popular culture since its release. Furthermore, Star Wars changed the narrative and aesthetic style of future Hollywood films. Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, illustrates how cinema has evolved since Fred Ott’s Sneeze (1894). Ultimately, this essay will explain the set up of Star Wars and how it connects to cinema history, in the point of views of the: narrative and cinematic style, genre, auteur theory and the global film industry.
In a world where we all aspire to be better, embodying wisdom, calmness, and kindness is a common dream. In the novel To Kill a Mockingbird, by Harper Lee, set in the segregated and racist South of the 1930s, Atticus Finch, father of Jem and Scout and a lawyer in Maycomb County, is tender, compassionate, sympathetic, and tolerant of everyone he comes in contact with. Atticus demonstrates these qualities consistently, embodying a genuine sense of empathy and understanding towards others, regardless of their background or circumstances. Throughout his career as a lawyer, Atticus ends up defending Tom Robinson, a black man. This was severely frowned upon by the town, and he was given a bad reputation with several people upset with him.
The Last Jedi is the latest highly anticipated installment in the new Star Wars trilogy. Does this film live up to the previous installments or does it disappoint? The movie picks up moments after the end of The Force Awakens. The Resistance is fleeing from Kylo Ren and the First Order.
JJ Abrams recently revived the Star Wars franchise with the release of Star Wars The Force Awakens, but has Abrams revived the franchise for the betterment? I was fortunate enough to watch The Force Awakens myself in theatres and I personally enjoyed the film. In par with the prequels the sequel is remarkably fresh, new, and nostalgic. JJ Abrams has succeeded in recreating the franchise by incorporating well-developed characters, a fresh, but nostalgic atmosphere, and following a great storyline.
