JJ Abrams recently revived the Star Wars franchise with the release of Star Wars The Force Awakens, but has Abrams revived the franchise for the betterment? I was fortunate enough to watch The Force Awakens myself in theatres and I personally enjoyed the film. In par with the prequels the sequel is remarkably fresh, new, and nostalgic. JJ Abrams has succeeded in recreating the franchise by incorporating well-developed characters, a fresh, but nostalgic atmosphere, and following a great storyline. These aspects of the film helped revive the critically hated franchise of prequels to create a new experience for everyone to enjoy.
The Force Awakens incorporates well-developed characters such as Finn. Finn is seen as being a storm trooper turned

One planet that was shown in The Force Awakens was Jakku a dessert biome. This was Rey’s planet where she spent most of her childhood after being deserted by her parents. The dessert planet Jakku is a part of the star wars universe’s lore, but it is not visually shown until now. Jakku was seen as being the final battle before the Galactic Empire fell to the hands of the Rebels. The representation of the planet from its various sand dunes, and the post apocalyptic feel all incorporate the lore of star wars well specifically in the film we are able to see a crashed space ship where Rey scavenges, this ship is from the battle of Jakku and is seen a being a symbol of the rebel’s victory. This setting is beautifully shown and represented to give viewers as they are in Jakku, it also bring back memories of how Luke lived on Tatoonie which was also a desert planet. The atmosphere and the character help support the main story of the Force Awakens making it both fresh and …show more content…
The movie main core plot is that both the dark side order and the rebels are searching for the final pieces of a map so that they can track down the last Jedi Luke Skywalker. The plot follows Rey a scavenger on Jakku who meets a robot that contains the top-secret map in order to find Luke, but Rey does not know of this until later on in the film. Later on the film Rey joins forces Finn storm trooper turned good as well as Han Solo to transport this intelligence to the last of Rebellion resistance. The main story follows various subplots including Han Solo and his son Kylo Ren story arc, and the other subplot revolving around Rey’s true identity. This well developed story creates new lore for the star wars universe and fans to create new theories and likings to this new upcoming star wars adventure. The story develops the characters really well as said before talking about Rey’s character representing the working class, and Finn journey to his true
However the film had some flaws. The beginning failed at establishing strong characters. Most of the characters in the film had no in depth personality and instead were just objects to push the story forward. On the other hand, the ending of the film was very effective. It lead well into the beginning of A New Hope. It ends with the rebels fleeing from Vader while A New Hope begins with Darth Vader boarding the rebels ship. Also the audience got an explanation to why the Death Star was so easy to destroy. Galen Erso designed the planet killer with a flaw in the the center of the star. This allowed the rebels to easily blow it up in A New Hope. Rogue One accomplishes its main goal of developing a story outside of the normal episodes in the
The “Star Wars” franchise is familiar to most, and may be the easiest in which to discover the hero’s journey. In “Star Wars,” we find young Luke Skywalker, a rebellious youth, living on a farm on the isolated planet of Tatooine, taken in by his aunt and uncle following the death of his mother and father. Luke grows up with dreams of flying through the stars, only dreams until his chance meeting with Ben Kenobi. Kenobi informs Luke of his real past: that his father was a Jedi knight and that Luke was destined to become great. Though Kenobi’s guidance and Luke own adventurous spirit, he finds himself pushed into an intergalactic quest to become a valiant Jedi in a galaxy controlled by the evil Empire.
The famous Star Wars is a movie from the epic space film series directed by George Lucas premiered in 1977. Since there are multiple Star Wars movies in the series, this paper will be focusing on the first movie of the series called Star Wars: A New Hope.
My reasons for this opinion are all because of the Disney movie Star Wars: The Force Awakens. First, the two movies The Force Awakens and the New Hope have the exact same plots. In all The other movies of Star Wars each plot is very different. In The Phantom Menace, the first movie in the Star Wars saga, the plot is that
Macbeth is a play written by William Shakespeare. It is considered one of his darkest and most powerful tragedies. Set in Scotland, the play dramatizes the corrosive psychological and political effects produced when evil is chosen as a way to fulfil the ambition for power. The play is believed to have been written between 1603 and 1607, and is most commonly dated 1606. It is a timeless classic and its themes resonate within some of the most common movies and books of modern times. Star Wars is an American epic space opera franchise centered on a film series created by George Lucas. The film series, consisting of two trilogies, has spawned an extensive media franchise called the Expanded Universe including books, television series, computer and video games, and comic books. The franchise depicts a galaxy described as far, far away in the distant past, and it commonly portrays Jedi as a representation of good, in conflict with the Sith, their evil counterpart. Their weapon of choice, the lightsaber, is commonly recognized in popular culture. It is arguably a cinematic masterpiece, holding in rank two of possibly the greatest trilogies the world has ever seen. It is a timeless epic which embodies within it an allegory for the history of the world; the rise and fall of empires and their emperors; the pursuit of power; the melting pot of cultures; the struggle for survival; the advancement of human technology; and most importantly as a whole, the history of humanity. Steven D. Graynus declared, “Ultimately, what the Star Wars films offer is….rousing storytelling suffused by themes of moral struggle and transcendence” (Decent Films Guide). The franchise's storylines contain many themes, with strong influences from philosophy and religio...
Star Wars falls into the category of epic because it grabs the audience attention with involving traits of superhuman strength and valor. There are many epic elements including Archetypes, Plot, Setting, Themes, and Heroes . Some of the symbolic archetypes of this movie is light vs. dark which means Luke vs. Dark Vader. Luke wears white and Dark Vader wears black and the color of their light sabers gives the archetype it’s name and meaning. Another symbolic archetype is fire vs ice. The color of a light saber that has good meaning is white or blue and if the light saber is red if it has bad meaning. R2D2 and C3po are Luke’s loyal servants and they eventually become apart of his family. They are droids that act as a hunting group for people
George Lucas is known for the creation of the Star Wars film series. Even if you have not seen every movie created in the series, you have at least heard about it. The series began with Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope (1977). This is a time when the film industry knew little about computer generated imagery and special effects. Star Wars: Episode V The Empire Strikes Back (1980) was released three years after Episode IV. Lucas’ creation of the Star Wars film series is believed to be what inspired the advancement of computer generated images and special effects. The Empire Strikes Back is full of action packed, suspense filled, battle scenes that would not be possible without the assistance of computer generated imaging and special effects.
It was Lucas's third film, 1977's Star Wars that changed everything. A deceptively simple morality tale of good versus evil told across a fantastic landscape of exotic planets and bizarre creatures, Star Wars became an international phenomenon, despite the fact that few saw its potential during production. Refusing to accept the limitations of filmmaking at the time, Lucas created his own visual effects company, Industrial Light & Magic, to deliver the more than 300 shots required to make his vision a reality. Star Wars broke all box office records, set new standards for sophistication in film visuals and sound, garnered eight Academy Awards, and inspired a generation of young people to follow their imagination and dreams. The success of Star Wars allowed Lucas to remain independent and continue operating in Marin County, California.
Imagine flying through a ice covered planet or zooming through the sand plains of tattoine or battling against the dark side next to Luke Skywalker well sounds amazing right? These are the things that make the Star Wars universe so fascinating in the upcoming paragraphs about how Star Wars has elements of story, that make Star Wars so popular. Star Wars is a cultural institution of immense proportions. Its impact on Hollywood alone has been incalculable. It’s impossible to imagine Raiders of the Lost Ark, E.T., The Matrix, or The Lord of the Rings without Star Wars. Yes because all these movies have been impacted from Star Wars they all transfer you to a different era from you fighting off Nazis to walking into mordor.
In 1978, Lucas began production of the second chapter of the trilogy, The Empire Strikes Back. He financed the film out of his own pockets. The movie was released in 1980 and again smashed box offices, becoming the most successful movie of 1980. Soon thereafter, Lucas made The Return of the Jedi, the final chapter in the trilogy. It was released in 1983 and grossed over 265 million dollars. Just before its completion, however, Lucas announced that he was leaving the Star Wars project for another time, when computer generated effects were more advanced and cost-effective.
Star Wars is a science fiction adventure novel. The symbolism and characterization was really excellent in the story. The story gives a great look into the future as it has many different types of things we have not yet invented; blaster rifles, space ships that go the speed of light, fat alien slugs, and beam swords. The plot of the story sucks you into the novel and makes you want to continue reading the novel.
The First of the three part series, Star Wars, is the tale of a band of
On May 25th, 1977, the world was introduced to Star Wars. Star Wars: A New Hope is a scientific fantasy film written and directed by George Lucas. This movie was the first of its kind, due to the inclusion of extensive special effects and the captivating realm it was set in. No other movie had expressed such creativity in the way that George Lucas did in the first installment of the Star Wars franchise. With such a variety of intriguing creatures, from Wookies to droids, the film became an extreme success.
The recently released ‘Star Wars: The Force Unleashed’ has become the best-selling Star Wars game, or of any game previously released by LucasArts , of all time shifting over 1.5 million copies of the title. LucasArts also underestimated how popular the game would become with ‘unprecedented demand’. “This further emphasizes the undiminished popularity of Star Wars” ( Faylor C, 2008 ).
Charlotte Perkins Gilman—a facet of feminist literature—contributed to the genre through her works, such as “The Yellow Wallpaper”, published in 1892. The story has gained immense popularity and has been reviewed in journal article analyses. A journal article dedicated to the analysis of “The Yellow Wallpaper” is, Women Entrapment and Flight in Gilman’s “The Yellow Wallpaper”, by Azra Ghandeharion of Ferdowsi University of Mashhad. Ghandeharion claims that Gilman’s story is more than a work of fiction, it is a statement of freedom for women that shows the harms of a patriarchal society.
