In the movie Star Wars IV: A New Hope the main theme is that everyone has goals, and everyone has challenges that are in the way of those goals. Luke Skywalker had many goals throughout the movie, and he faces many challenges that are roadblocks in each of his goals. Along with challenges, there are also helping hands that may guide someone towards their goal, or give someone motivation to complete their goal along with directly helping someone at times. Luke also experiences this throughout the movie, with every challenge ththere is some form of motivation or helping hand.
The first goal in the movie is that of Luke, and his goal is to leave the planet Tattoine because he is bored of helping his aunt and uncle on their milk farm. His first challenge to this goal is his uncle, because he wants him to stay and help and he is not giving Luke permission to leave Tattoine. His helping hand in this challenge is his aunt,

because she tries to persuade his uncle into letting him leave to go to university. Luke eventually does reach his goal, but for a different reason. The next goal that Luke sets is very important to the movie, because it completely sets the stage for his reason for leaving his home planet and reveals a completely different obstacle. This occurs when Luke's uncle buys 2 droids to work on the farm with him from a traveling junk market. When Luke becomes interested in the droids, he clicks a button on the smaller droid, named R2-D2. The droid then projects a hologram of a woman saying, "Help me Obi Wan Kenobi, you're my only hope". She also says that she needs the droid delivered to her father on Alderaan. Luke becomes mesmerized almost by this gorgeous woman, and at this point his goal changes. He now not only wants to leave the planet, but he wants to find Obi Wan and help this woman he just saw. His first obstacle when this happens is finding Obi Wan. When he goes to look for Obi Wan, he returns home to both his aunt and uncle dead at his house. Also at this point, he realizes that his goal is to find out who killed his aunt and uncle. When he does find Obi Wan, he is a helping hand in his new goal because he thinks he can get Luke and himself to Alderaan. When they are trying to find a ship that can take them to Alderaan, Luke faces a new set of challenges. The first challenge established to Luke and Obi Wan is when they come across two guards at the city. This is overcome with the power of the force that Obi Wan has, and at this point Luke is introduced to the Force. When they do eventually find someone that can take them to Alderaan, the people they find have their own set of challenges, even. The people that the found were Han Solo and his Wookiee partner Chewbacca. They were both outlaws because of the bounty placed on their head as a result of not paying Jabba the Hutt. What really helps this movie form is the interchanging of goals, and how each individual's goal in this movie is helped along by the others correspondingly. For example, Luke needed a ship to get to Alderaan, and Han Solo needed money to get to pay off Jabba the Hutt. They ended up becoming a helping hand in each other's challenges that they both faced, and they both helped each other come closer to their goal. Eventually, Princess Leia is rescued by Luke with the help from Obi Wan and Han Solo, but the fight wasn't over yet. Another challenge that Luke faced was that their ship was now trapped on the Death Star, along with the rest of his helping hands. Before they could leave, however, Obi Wan and Darth Vader battled and Darth Vader won. Luke entered the room to see Obi Wan dead, and at that moment his new goal had been set. The last goal that Luke had, and by far the most important, is blowing up the Death Star.
Many different challenges that Luke faced when trying to achieve this, and many helping hands along the way as well. Once they safely left the Death Star, they started planning on how to destroy the ship. The rebellion all worked together on the planning of destroying the Death Star. Luke was the captain of the fleet that was going to to blow it up. When the fighters were approaching the Death Star, the first challenge was the missiles attached to the ship. This challenge was taken care of by Luke's allied fighters who were with him in the battle. The next challenge was when there were enemy Star fighters sent after the fleet. This was also taken care of by the allies of Luke, but a couple fighters were shot down. After that, Darth Vader himself chases after Luke along with a few enemy fighters. When this happens, Han Solo and Chewbacca come in at the last second and eliminate the fighters so that way Luke can deploy the bomb and blow up the Death
Star. To conclude, the theme of this movie is that everyone has goals, and everyone has challenges that come in the way of achieving those goals. There is also always a helping hand when facing challenges. Part of this main theme is also that there is always a goal, even if you complete a previous one. This is shown multiple times throughout the movie, first with Luke's goal to leave Tattoine, then with his goal to save Princess Leia, and finally to destroy the Death Star.

Cool Hand Luke was based on the experiences of Lucas Jackson, a war hero who returned to the United States. Lucas is sentenced to prison after he is caught drunkenly cutting the heads off of parking meters for no apparent reason. For this offense, Lucas is given a sentence of two years at a notorious Florida prison camp run by a hard-core warden. Initially, Lucas is not well liked by either the guards or inmates due to the fact that he sees himself as an independent and ignores the pecking order in the prison. The reputation of Lucas begins to change when he shows resilience in a boxing match with Dragline, the alpha male inmate. His reputation is cemented when he bluffs at poker with a losing hand, earning him the name “Cool Hand Luke”. From this point forward Luke is revered by the other inmates and looked at as a leader and role model.
In the separation stage, Luke`s hidden past is revealed and is called on a mission to save the galaxy. After accepting the mission in the transformation stage, Luke travels throughout the universe and is faced with obstacles and tests to prepare him for the greatest challenge. Lastly, in the return stage, Luke's journey comes to a conclusion as he defeats the Empire and gains the ultimate victory and is rewarded. Although his quest was not an easy one, Luke pushed through and faced the challenges and endured the hardship like a hero. He learns many things all through his quest and passes from immaturity to his adulthood. All in all, Luke Skywalker truly earned the right to be called a hero. How can you be a hero in your world? And “may the force be with
What is the director ultimately saying about the ways in which hope affects the individual?
About a week ago we watched a movie called “The Incredibles”. The Incredibles is a 2004 movie written by Brad Bird. The Lego movie is the story of a simpleton turned knight-in-shining-armor and co on their journey to the top as they brave life on the run from a benevolent dictator in order to foil his devious plot to freeze the world in his image for all eternity. To make matters worse, pretty much each and every citizen is completely oblivious to the full extent of the chaos that is ensuing. At first glance, life seems all but perfect, but in reality, this could not be further from the truth. Even if this is as obvious as the sky is blue, Lord Fussiness has managed to keep resistance at bay through means of manipulating the minds of his citizens into believing a false sense of safety and freedom under his every watch.
...ng the underlying theme that drives the story and the movie, propels the reader and viewer to rekindle the desire to hope above all else because hope is all one has in devastating as well as dire needs. Hope overcomes despair, permits others to see your “inner light” to develop integrity which connects with honesty and trust. Hope is the inspiration to continue to live regardless of the circumstances. Red may have narrated; “Let me tell you something my friend. Hope is a dangerous thing. Hope can drive a man insane.” But, Andy Dufresne states it best: “Get busy living, or get busy dying.”
Wings of Desire (1987), by Wim Wenders is a fantastical Franco-German romantic film that depicts the lives of those who populated Berlin during the time of Franco and the Berlin Wall that separated West and East Germany. In the film, reality is separated into two dimensions in which humans and angels are isolated from each other and exist on separate planes of existence. The angels gaze over the inhabitance of Berlin and attempt to comfort people in distress; however, because of their separate existences, the angels cannot influence the actions of the human world. Wenders noticeably relates the separation of existence between the angels and humans in Wings of Desire with the isolation felt by the people of West and East Berlin with his use of acting style, color grading, symbolism.
The constant theme throughout this movie is the battle between good and evil, right and wrong, and light and dark. Anakin Skywalker is the main protagonist throughout this film. There is an internal fight going on within him concerning what side of the force he should follow. The light side means he would have to allow Padme, his wife, to die. The dark side would allow him to save her or at least have the fear of losing her. He slowly starts to turn to the dark side with guidance from Darth Sidious (Chancellor Palpatine). Anakin believes he is doing the right thing which in turn will save Padme from dying in childbirth.
The end of World War I, according to some European historians, occurred on May 8, 1945 or V-E Day. A day marking the change of the world’s enemy from Nazi Germany to Communist Russia. Fears of Communism, the totalitarian government of Soviet Russia, were invited through the use of propaganda in the media by the United States government. Illustrating this type of propaganda is the motion picture, The Red Menace released in 1949 by Republic Motion Pictures provides acumens of the fears and concerns on the minds of Americans during a period in America’s history known today as the Cold War.
The hero’s journey has different stages that make it up. One of those stages is known as crossing the threshold. Beauty and the Beast and Star Wars show ways that a hero crosses the threshold of their quest. In Star Wars Luke Skywalker joins a jedi named Obi-wan Kenobi on a journey away from his planet. Luke crossed the threshold when Obi-wan first took Luke to a cantina in Mos Eisley. The hero of the monomyth often faces trials after crossing the threshold. Luke faced his first
Welcome to the year 2019. In a futuristic world the Tyrell Corporation has given life to replicants, robots that are genetically programmed to be identical to humans. Blade Runner was released in 1982, and was directed by Ridley Scott, who is also well known for directing Alien in 1979. The science fiction thriller stars Harrison Ford and Sean Young. The film was nominated for two Oscars, including Best Visual Effects and Best Art Direction. Blade Runner is a 1982 neo-noir that exemplifies strong storytelling and cinematic techniques. Today, a considerable amount of Blade Runner’s success has been because of its production design, portraying a modified future, and being a dominant film in the neo-noir genre. Harrison Ford plays Rick Deckard, the protagonist of the film. Deckard is a morally unstable retired bounty hunter, also known as “Blade Runner” who hunts illegal replicants. Rachael is an experiment by the Tyrell Corporation to create a more realistic replicant by constructing fake memories to provide a base for emotional responses. Due to the superior artificial replicants being both physically and mentally better than humans the government has calculated they are an insecurity to society. In the year 2019, replicants are illegal and do not have the freedom enjoyed by humans. The specialized “Blade Runner” police unit was brought into being to accurately identify and “retire” or kill replicants.
