Psychology of Sport Injuries

When it comes to sports, injuries are inevitable. It is not a matter of if you will get injured, it is more a matter of when and how often. From personal experience, the psychological aspect of an injury really takes a toll during rehabilitation and returning to play. Many psychological variables and performance variables contribute as a whole to injuries. Many of these factors associated with injuries exacerbate or suppress mental states depending on the strength of the found factors. Looking at these factors allow for some reasoning when it comes to injuries and the psychology or mental states associated with it. The psychology of sports injuries is a multifaceted process that is comprised of three different stages, pre-injury, rehabilitation, and post-injury.
