Giving speeches has always been a big fear for almost all of us. You do not know whether to eye contact your audience, silence those little voices in your head that want to consume your confidence, or focusing on your speech. Ever since I started school and especially high school, I was a straight A student. Doing all the hard work and not trying to cheat during tests, which gave me the chance to give a speech during the graduation ceremony. In my case, I have given many speeches since high school graduation and almost all of them went just fine; except of one that went really well, but there were some issues before I give it. My first speech, which was the one I had issues with, but changed my life in a positive way, was for my high school graduation, which I had the chance to give it because of the hard work I did. Being a hard worker student gives you a one of a life time chance, which was the public speech for me, and there were some issues with it; however, that speech not only changed my perspective of life, but also my fellow senior students, and also my feelings …show more content…
Even though college life is harder, high school still important in our lives because it determines whether you are ready for your career or not. During my high school time I was a straight A student, which made me feel like a V.I.P person because of the way my instructors treated me. I have been given that chance to give the graduation speech because of my file. Also, I was number three in my high school out of a 600 senior students even though I had hard-ships during 11th grade, where I was falling back and did not do well in some mid-terms. But eventually, I managed to go back to the top and ace the 11th grade. When I was given the chance to give the high school graduation speech, I was completely not expecting that because I was one of the top three students in my school, and it is so obvious that the top one student will be given the chance to give that
Few people are fearless speakers. As students, we generally feel the rumble of butterflies in our stomachs, but the most we have to lose is a good grade.
I did not want to sound too nostalgic since I’m not the emotional type, but I also did not want to come across as indifferent. It was a difficult task, but I knew I could accomplish it. A week before the banquet, the senior cheerleaders were given the task of writing speeches about their coaches and their teammates. I am not the kind of person to voluntarily put myself in a situation where I have to speak in front of others.
A high school diploma is important to my future like it is for many individuals who have goals and aspirations to succeed in life. A high school diploma is a foundation for basic education before going to college and it's a great accomplishment not too many people get to have. With a high school diploma many educational and professional opportunities will be available to me. I'll have better long term economic outcomes than individuals who do not have a high school diploma.
One question that comes to mind when graduating high school is, “should I attend college?” For many graduates this question have a very obvious answer. A high school graduate may state that, “college is the best option if one is trying to get a higher level of education, and will help one compete for a higher paying job.” However, in my opinion most graduates do not consider the fact that going to college is a very big decision to make and that the schoolwork will not be easy. Going to college is not the best choice for every high school graduate because many students cannot handle college, colleges’ lower standards, and not all jobs require a college degree.
Commencement speeches are often a sending off to the graduates by a highly regarded person, and is suppose to have a purpose. The purpose of the speech is to: motivate, inspire, encourage, provoke, a call to action, and to give hope to the graduates as well as congratulate them on their achievements. Often the speaker is someone who is famous or have been successful in their life. In regards to how the speech is given, it usually starts out with the speaker congratulating the class. They will typically try to relate to the audience by making fun of themselves to lower them to the graduates level. A conventional speech follows these conventions, but not all stay within the bounds, mostly due to wanting to be remembered or heard. David Foster
After reviewing my speeches back to back, I realized that my public speaking skills have evolved dramatically. While I would like to have changes to my projects if I had the ability to time travel, but overall I am more than satisfied with my progression in public speaking. My level of listenability is still not flawless, but with some more practice and time I am confident that I could become a decent public speaker. Whether I will do anything as a public speaker is yet to be determined, but I do know that I walked into this class with the simple expectation to acquire my honor credits, but was fortunate enough to part with experience that will be applied to the rest of both my academic and occupational careers.
I agree with the “You Are Not Special” speech because it is honest. I think the speech is honest because the speaker reminds listeners of things that show that we are not special. He also states that even though we are the only class president or valedictorian
At the end of senior year, there is one major decision that can pave the way of the future. While many high school students choose to enter the workforce right after graduation, there are many benefits for those who choose to battle through school for a few more years. Going to college is an experience that everyone should go through, because it is a wise investment in oneself. College can be the beginning of a lifelong journey that opens many doors of opportunities such as: broadening social connections, expanding career options, and increasing future earning potential.
Is graduating high school important to me? Yes, more than you know. I’m doing my best to get almost all A’s and this will help me a lot in my goal to graduate high school. In addition to this, I have excellent attendance this year and I’m staying out of trouble at school. This goal is important to me because it will help me get the job I want in the future and other potential jobs.
My High School life has helped shape the way for my college experiences that I will face. My senior year in high school is not the same as many other high school students. I am taking many advanced classes to help me prepare for college. These classes help me better understand exactly how much harder I must work to succeed.
High school has been a very interesting experience for me. It has definitely had its highs and lows and many confusing experiences in between. Overall, I feel like I have been equipped for not only college, but also life as a whole. High school has taught me many things, both academically and emotionally. It has revealed and exposed my true colors, both good and bad, and as a result, has built many aspects of my character. My experiences at Alameda High school and Alameda Community Learning Center have shaped me into the person that I am today.
The commencement ceremony encourages each student’s search for knowledge. It often includes a speech which seeks to put their recent hard work into the context of their future. Oprah Winfrey’s Harvard commencement speech and Bill Gates’s Harvard commencement speech both give Harvard graduates important advice for the future. While there are differences between Oprah Winfrey and Bill Gate’s commencement speeches at Harvard, they both agree that students should find a purposeful cause in their lives and find the solution. Both speeches are full of ideas that are geared to motivate the graduates, help them set goals, and strive for things in life. The speeches give them a message to takeaway for later. Not all speeches are the same but they seem to have similar running theme to them.
High school is what prepares everyone in some way for the real world. Only 65.9% of high school seniors go off to college. Which means 34.1% will take adulthood head on. Not everyone is prepared to have a child. No one knows what life will throw at them
Ok, its 12:15 and I just walked into my house from seeing a movie with three of my best friends and I have to write this speech. A speech that’s suppose to inspire all of you, and tell you how the future has so much to hold for the class of 2015, how the possibilities are endless. Right now I’m probably standing in the front of the class and supposed to be addressing all of you as “fellow graduates, or to the class of 15’”. But that’s not what I’m going to do. I put this off as I do with the majority of my work thinking I would just write something everyone expects to hear, but instead I wrote this.
Senior speech night at my old high school Ragsdale was very significant. I knew that it could either make me or break me. If I did not complete the speech I could possibly not pass English 12, meaning I did not meet the requirements to graduate. I had already had an A in the class and I wanted to maintain my average by making an A on my speech.
