Confidence Do you know what it feels like to be confident? Hear me, I was never self-confident before, then I decided to grow up and learn that I should not care about what other people think about me. Everyone in their life wants to feel confident in themselves and not have to worry about what other people think about them. Confidence is a good thing; it defines a person and helps them find out who they are. Confidence is believing in yourself. When you believe in yourself it makes others jealous because they see something you have that they do not. You have to believe in yourself when no one else does; prove everyone else wrong. If you do not know state track feels like you are being put in the spotlight, like everyone is watching you. Of course, this was the most memorable moment of my track season. My teammates and I had made it out to Des Moines, IA to run on the blue oval with many different athletes, some who ran sprints, some who ran long distance and some who just did field events. It was a packed stadium with many talented track runners from all over the state that would go on to run in college and maybe even farther than that someday. Preparing to run, we warmed up for our race by setting up five hurdles on the green turn in the middle of the track and going over them, then we would sit, talk and stretch looking at other teams around us. While warming up we had become more and more nervous. We knew what we had to do and we knew we had to believe in each other just like we had done all season. We all have weaknesses but they only undermine your confidence if you let them.” This is one of the steps to help yourself be confident. When you overcome your fears, or do the things you were once afraid to do you will show you have more strength than you used to. Everyone is afraid to do something, and if we do not push through the hard things our weakness will take control of us and we will no longer know what to do, we will hide ourselves because of fear. I used to be afraid of preforming in front of big crowds, until I got the opportunity to run at state track. Of course, I was scared I was going to buckle, but I did not let my fear take charge.
