Some of the special effect used in these films are animation. For example, the penguin scene in Mary Poppins. Another example of this is transitioning and flashbacks. An
In the final scene from Thelma and Louise the cinematographic effects are astounding. Panning, reaction shot, and dissolve are all used in the last section of the movie clip extensively. These three cinematographic terms are perfect for this clip because of the intensity they add to the scene. Through the use of panning, reaction shot, and dissolve the actresses portray two extreme emotions of desperation and the tranquility of freedom.
The start of special effects in film is largely attributed to Georges Méliès and his process of removing a section of a moving picture to place another moving part within.
Art is something strange and even meaningless in my family tradition. I am from a family of the medical discourse community. Most of my family members have medical degrees. Therefore, they hoped that I could follow the family tradition. However, I chose to follow my dream. According to the book, East Eats West, by Andrew Lam, he mentioned ““America will tell you to look out for number one, to think for yourself […] follow your dream … take care of yourself first … you cannot make anyone else happy if you don’t love yourself” (45). I have to make myself happy before helping and satisfying other people. Therefore, I chose to continue my education in the Digital Media Art (DMA) field because I love technology and art. I believe that I will do well in this profession. Art is created for many reasons, and art can be beautiful, frightening, or provocation (Barrio). In order to explain the discourse community of Digital Media Art, I will use the interview that I had with Ms. A, a professional artist in Graphic Design, and some other research articles. I will include the background and experience, career path, and writing and communication skills of an artist. Also, I will conclude into my writing what surprised me during the interview and what I need to do to make my goal real in the
In this respect, any filmmaker who uses film’s formal elements to create and effectively communicate meaning over and above simply conveying what was in front of the camera at the time can be said to be creating art.

An artist must be able to work effectively with other artists and/or without other artists, be creative and/or imaginative, have attention to detail, have strong observation skills, and have good communication skills. Artists need to also receive feedback from QA Testers and apply it to the game. Artists do a variety of jobs which have diverse responsibilities and techniques, including concept artists, 3D modellers, 2D artists, texture artists, animators, technical artists, and computer graphics
Computer generated imagery has evolved and spread throughout cinematography and the film world like wildfire. Although computer generated imagery offers countless creative opportunities, the art form of special effects makeup should be practiced and preserved, as just that- an art form. Most people have begun to describe special effects makeup as anachronistic. Considering how long special effects makeup has been around, people are convinced that its existence is coming to an end.
The Role of Computer Generated Imagery in the Film Industry Computer Generated Imagery is the special effects used in motion pictures to create a visual depiction of an illusion that can not be easily created in real life. Directors of major motion pictures have been using these technologies since the early days of the personal computer. Early on, when and special effects were in their beginning stages, it was difficult to make efficient and effective effects that are well accepted by the movie critics and the general public. An evolution of special effects and the introduction of computerized animation brought the standards for movie effects to a higher level. The development of new methods of Computer Generated Imagery for less money and more effective than in the past has allowed even fairly low budget movies to incorporate such technology.
Back in the 1990s, the technology of making movies were quite simple back but as time goes by, there were higher demands to grab the audience’ attention, they upgraded their software creativity that were being used which was the C.G.I that stands for computer generated image, specializing the sound & graphic effects which were mainly costly but even to a higher-budget, it made a huge successful on how movies are improving.
Juan Carlos Garcia AVID 2A 6/12/2016 Research Question: What makes Industrial light and Magic a master in the special effects industry? Industrial Light and Magic (ILM) has been known in the past for its contributions to the special effects industry by doing the special effects for movies such as Star Wars and Titanic. Our first interviewee, Ms. Maryan Duritan, is a graduate of AB Multimedia Arts at the De La Salle-College of Saint Benilde. She now works as an animator and illustrator at WikiHow, and as a part-time art teacher at BeMe -- a company that holds art workshops for toddlers and kids.
Animators are people who create images such as drawings or computer generated things to come to life through graphics. This job is quite suitable for those who have creative artistic skills such as drawing or modeling, in addition to good computer skills in order to communicate with the audience with accurate detail of the images which contribute into the motion pictures. Computer technology invades the film industry. The existence of computers have aided in the production of genres of film ranging from action movie special effects, to cartoon animation and claymation. Computer Generated Imagery, better known as CGI, assists filmmakers in many ways. An image can be made two-dimensional from a three-dimensional scene, camera angles can be altered to make a character seem larger and thus more important than its surrounding bodies, and colors can be brightened or neutralized, among other things (Parsons, Oja 1). Without the aid of computers, movies would not have the ability to be what they are today.
Animation, like any other creative art, requires a successful animator to be: patient, talented, disciplined, and willing to work hard. Among the term animation are subcategories such as: character and effects. Character animation is the hardest, in that is requires the most skill. The animator must have a critical eye for every detail that goes into the final project. Character animation can also be broken up into its own subcategories such as: 2D, 3D, traditional, stop motion, and motion graphics. However, 2D and 3D are the most commonly pursued. Regardless if the project is generated by hand or by computer, the overall goal of the animator is to entertain. The animator must have both a clear concept of how to entertain the audience, and
