The Speakers Club brings professionals and practitioners that are involved in the Accounting and Finance environment. These experienced individuals discuss their industries, business, and careers. The speakers include recruiters and alumni that are there to share their experience in the field and offer advice to students so that they can excel in the workplace. Maria Cokotis also host three lab classes that provide enormous value in terms of how to prepare for interviews and researching companies. The Speakers Club offered students an opportunity to learn about different industries and different career paths that students can explore. Throughout the experience, the one meeting that related to myself and my major was when Bryan Schmutz did …show more content…
Maria Cokotis hosted three lab days that provide all students with the Speaker's Club an insight about preparing and researching companies for interviews. Learning to use databases in the lab has been a great help in finding information about any company. For example, the LexisNexis database would have been a database that I would not have gone to find information about a company. It offers a great deal of information about any company from their description of the company, address, and even their financial statements. This can provide enormous benefits to Accounting and Finance students that can use the financial statements, balance sheets, and income statement to offer new ideas for improving the company. The last lab that I participated in Maria went over the benefits of joining an accounting or financial professional associations or organizations. I thought it was a great idea and will be looking into join a financial organization over winter break when I have time to look for one that offers a lot of insight in the financial world. The CFA.Org is beneficial to join, however I believe that is more for when I am ready to take the CFA Level 1 …show more content…
We had top four firms such as KPMG and PWC, we had small accounting firms such as Wolf and Company, we also were able to get insight on a portfolio manager Wyatt Hogan as well as Richard Baker from Income Works. All of these great companies and people have shared their valuable experience that I can use to shape the outcome of my career. I have learned researching skills using databases for companies, I have learned a lot about the CFA Exam and I need to start preparing for it, I also have learned more about networking to make sure that I can make a lasting impression on anyone I meet because they might be able to help me in some point of my career. As mentioned earlier I think that the Speaker Club offers a great experience for anyone to participate in. I have learned new things that I would have not been able to learn in the
the many things that can be learned from it, instead of looking at it passively. You grow
There is always the symposium which is a good place to get your name out and make connections.
While only a small percentage of the entire workforce was able to participate in the event, its intention was to provide employees with something to strive toward. It was also rejuvenating for those given the opportunity to attend. The event was inspiring and left you with the feeling that you work for a great company and they do care about you; so much so that they are willing to spend a lot of money and provide you with a wonderful experience . The event also focused heavily on the driving force of the company: the students and helping them to improve and change their lives. Employees returned to work feeling inspired and ready to do just that. The event provided the company with an opportunity to invest in their employees, reward them, and make them feel
I have learned how to be an optimistic person and spread positivity with others. Recently I went to Puerto Rico to visit my family and there I met a numerous amount of vagrant people who did not have food on a daily basis nor a home to come to after an elongated day. I felt so pleased to be able to bless those individuals with nutrition, water, and clothes. Before I developed into who I am now, I did not have goals and accomplishments, I did not really have a determination in life. Learning who Christ was helped me become more linguistic, kinesthetic and spatial.
I have learned how to accept supervision better. I am showing concern for others more than normal, and I have met great people who I can really consider as mentors for me later in life. These people have changed me and helped me see the brighter things in life. Coming to Job Corps is probably the best thing that I have ever done because I was not able to do anything back at home before I came here and now I am getting the education and training that I need to make my dreams come true. I would really like to stay here because I am learning a lot and I have nothing else or better to do to help myself back at
Over the four years that I have spent at Good Counsel, I became part of many activities. Each helping me evolve as a person and become stronger yet. Simple lists could be made of every activity that I have ever been involved in but it could never express to a person what I have learned and how it helped me to grow. Every environmental club, science club, political science club, service work, and S.A.D.D. club I was part of had a very special message to deliver to me. Whether the message was one of responsibility, or a life lesson, I grew from it. The Political Science club opened me to many new experiences. It allowed me the chance to attend the Model U.N., where I was asked to address today's top world issues. This club was very beneficial to me because I was exposed to topics and ideas that I had not previously been able to discuss or learn about in a classroom situation. The science club allowed for me to experience extra educational situations as well. I took part in a hovercraft competition, which was very educational while also allowing me the chance to work with others for a common goal.
I have learned what it means to serve and what it means to be content and trust God. I have learned what it means to be grateful even through the hard times. My relationship with god really has improved since my experience in Tecate, and I will be forever grateful for that door that God opened in my life. Over the trip I had the pleasure of living among and working with the men and women of the orphanage. The boys and girls taught me much more than I ever expected, what it means to be positive, get through hard times. The relationships I made may not still be in tact today but the marks they left on me, and who I am as a person still remain. I am forever changed for good because of the people I met at small orphanage in Tecate
As well, I would like to develop and improve my reporting skills, and to organize ideas in a proper way in order to communicate them effectively while writing business reports. I would like to reach all the expectations of this class, and use learned skills in other classes and my career as a business major. I expect to understand my opportunities and challenges that I am encountering as completing the program, and improve them while learning in this class. The completion of this report will help me to set a clear vision to develop a capstone project that relates to my own

Your company offers a high energy and a dynamic environment that will allow me to grow and reach my full potential. Furthermore, I have selected Tax and financial planning as my elective course for all
Consisting of three modules – Business Analytics, Economics for Managers and Financial Accounting – it aims to make you conversant with the language of business. The technical wizardy used to deliver the course is jaw-dropping – it replicates the interactive nature of a classroom while also being engaging, vibrant and exciting – the USP of this course is that it is centred around HBS’s famed case-study approach to teaching, the biggest plus for those paying $1,800 for the
I have learned a great deal about different cultures and the communication between those cultures. I didn’t really think I would learn as much as I did. I am from an older cohort than most of the people in my class; therefore my experience level is a little greater. This did not prevent me from learning a few things and enhancing the knowledge I already have.
Like that one story grandpa would always tell you about that one time he asked his wife to the dance when they were kids. You get to use your experience to help someone out that is going through the same type of situation. But if you wouldn't have taken on that obstacle, how would you be able to give that person advice? Receiving more experience from challenges can be healthy while your brain is still trying to grow. Technology is one of the biggest challenges we have taken on since the beginning of

For instance, many of my friends and I thought this volunteering activity will be a waste of time and boring yet when we actually showed genuine participation in the tasks we were assigned, we felt better connected to our childhood and other schools in our community. While the new friendships I had developed in the short amount of time are likely to not be revitalized in the future, it was worthwhile for the time being. I felt more connected to something I thought was completely alien at first - French Immersion schools. I always questioned what actually happens in these types of schools and how their education differninates from mines and from my service, I realized that it is merely education in an alternate form.
