A) Physical setting; built in 1932 and was originally owned by Union Pacific Railroad and later occupied by Yellow Freight Distribution, whose sign still hangs next to the female restrooms. From the exterior of the building I, noticed the long wooden open deck area that leads into the event stage area, full of neon lights. Inside the famous ice house, a big wooden square bar full of various kinds of liquor and a blue sign that read independent ice company as I passed through the two glass doors and took several steps, I noticed the ordering area for the amazing food it serves and the square style indoor full of sports memorabilia next to the booth. The long narrow hall way that lead to the boy’s restroom was full of autographed pictures from groups that had …show more content…
I notice the security guards on both sides of the main concert area wearing a yellow neon shirt and black cargo pants. The people without the yellow wrist band that read attendee in black were not allowed outside the deck area. Everyone had their unique style of wear drove. The Spazmatics way of dressing is from the peculiar movie revenge of the nerds the singer's wearing a neck brace and high-water pants. The guitarist has tape on his geeky glasses and teeth so bucked-out he could chew corn through a picket fence. The bass player's wearing a crash helmet and a SpongeBob backpack and the drummer's break dancing in lederhosen. The people who attended, the men were waring from casual blue jeans and a long sleeve shirt, to a cowboy hat and boots. The women some in dresses and boots, to also casual blue jeans and Tennie shoes. I even saw a kid in pajamas playing in the swing set area. Next to me was a couple both wearing black cowboy hats and black boots. The middle-aged couple had matching watches and a neckless, I noticed a long brown wallet sticking out the back pocket of the male individual that had the name David engraved on
On Tuesday, October 17, 2017, I attended a musical concert. This was the first time I had ever been to a concert and did not play. The concert was not what I expected. I assumed I was going to a symphony that featured a soloist clarinet; however, upon arrival I quickly realized that my previous assumptions were false. My experience was sort of a rollercoaster. One minute I was down and almost asleep; next I was laughing; then I was up and intrigued.
I chose to do my concert critique on Eric Clapton-MTV unplugged full concert-HQ January 16, 1992 at Bray Film Studios in Windsor, England. Eric Clapton is my favorite rock n roll singer which has a mixture of genres. The concert was inside and on stage. The audience was seated up close to the stage which made the atmosphere comfortable; Eric and the band showed much warmth and connected with the crowd it wasn’t like the band was untouchable.
Music is virtually everywhere we go, no matter if it is background noise in a coffee shop or singing along while shopping for groceries, we can find music somewhere. The event I attended was the Flint Symphony Orchestra on October 8, 2016. I have never attended a symphony before so I was excited to go, especially since I had invited my friend to attend with me. For this event, I was already informed by my teacher that the symphony will be formal so we needed to look the part since others will be dressed fancy. This made me curious how this event will turn out. Walking past the ticket area and through the doors to the lobby made me feel instantly memorized at how grand it was on the inside. I went downstairs and there were a vast
The two concerts that I chose to go see were Stanislaus State Wind Ensemble and Jazz Ensembles & Combos Concert. These two concerts are both very similar yet different in their own ways. Each piece also has many attributes to contribute and it was fun being able to watch two very different genres.
Jazz is a music genre that is very rich in culture which is why I decided to attend a Jazz concert. This was my first Jazz event I had ever been to. I went to see the band The Chairman and the Board. This was a blues swing band. Having been to other concerts, I was expecting something similar as far as atmosphere and crowd. I was proved very wrong as this concert defied all my expectations and was in a whole different field as far as life entertainment goes. The first thing I noticed right off the bat was the audience. The age range of this audience was mainly 40-70. I definitely felt like the odd man out when I was there. It did get me thinking though, why was this audience so much older? I looked into the era of when most of those people
Woodstock Music Festival is known to be the culmination of the counter-culture movement, and Altamont Music Festival is remembered as “the concert that ended the sixties”. When looking inside the two festivals, it becomes relevant as to why Woodstock was successful and why Altamont was a failure. With large music festivals it seems that superb organization, proper locationing, and formal security is fundamental in having a prosperous event; Woodstock being a great example of this, and Altamont being completely antagonistic to the fundamentals of success. Because of Altamont’s lacking, it brought a horrific closure to the sixties, ending Rock n’ Roll music festivals. No more rock n’ roll will play through the valleys, no more ‘family’ gatherings of peace and love will burn in the hearts of the hippies, for the musical festivals are over.
Mrs. Swenson stated that she attended the High School Jazz and Concert Band Concerts. They were great. She stated that it is tough to get a crowd this time of year with all the other events going on. She stated she also attended the W.T. Chipman Band and Chorus Concerts. All were great and had great turnouts.
On Thursday, February 26, 2015 the music department of Oklahoma State University hosted a small concert series at 12:00 pm at the Edmund low library. There were many pieces composed by various composers and were performed by numerous people and ensemble at the concert such as OSU student Emma Jones, musicians Mikray Hasan, Charbel Yubaile, professors Sun Min Kim and Heather Lanners and the OSU trumpet ensemble. The program included Bruyères (Heather) from preludes, Book 2, Nocturne in b-flat minor, Op. 9, No. 1, Palmier d’étoiles (Star palm), L’ Egyptienne (The Egyptian), Jeux d’enfants (children’s games), Tuba Mirum Fanfare, Ava Maria, A Hoffnung Fanfare, First Essay, Op. 12, and Toccata and Fugue in d minor.
On August 27, 2015, I attended a concert at Central Piedmont Community College in Tate Recital Hall. The concert started at 12:30 pm. It was Baroque music pieces performed by Webb Wiggins (He was an instructor at CPCC in the late 1970’2 and early 1980’s when the early music program was first begun). When I first got there, I was a little bit nervous because I have never in my life been in a concert. The concert was about to start so I got my paper and pen ready to take notes. As I walked into the concert hall, I was a little disappointed at the size.
I attended the Cal State University Long Beach student performance on Saturday, April 23rd. I stayed from opening to closing act, all together there were seven acts performed. Although all of them were intriguing in their own way, act three was the one that was most impressive to me because of the choreography, the performance, and the costumes that went along with the incredible dancers.
The term genre in music can be used to describe different forms and styles of music all over the world, whether it be country, rock, jazz, pop, and so on. But the terms used for genres can be considered broad and/or vague, so music that is commonly classified in any given genre can be categorized more specifically. For example, jazz can be a broad term for other subgenres such as Cool jazz, Free jazz, Dixieland, Ragtime and numerous other examples. This general rule applies to many different genres of music, and metal music is no exception.
February 7, 2018, I attended the Lydian string quartet hosted by the University of Central Arkansas at the Snow fine arts center. The performance was a classical called Love and Death. It was performed by four talented musicians. The instruments that were played was two violins, a viola, and a cello. The musicians played three different selections of music by three different artists.
In no time I get to the front of the line, handed the bouncer my ticket and walked in. Lights were flashing everywhere in extravagant, blinding colors. The music was so loud it immersed your entire world, shutting out everything around you. From the entrance I entered into a wide, open room, the size of a warehouse with two bars on either side, a gigantic dance floor in the middle and the main stage towards the back with the DJ booth and LED visuals screens. The room smelled distinctly of marijuana and nearly every person had some sort of drink in their hand, clearly a liberal environment.
There is an event that I just can describe as one of the most unique and memorable in my life: attending my first concert. After years of listening to Ron Pope’s music, watching his YouTube channel, and following all of his social media accounts, the satisfaction of seeing someone whose music has been the soundtrack to my life for so long was unreal. There were moments that I had to internally remind myself that this is, in fact, happening in real life. Being a dedicated (some may say eccentrically so) fan is tough work – and I was rewarded with two hours of pure magic for one night. Attending my first concert was a unique event that I will always remember fondly because of the atmosphere, the amazing performance and the sense of connection
I went to my first classical concert which was performed by Benjamin Pila. Honestly, I did not expect too much on this concert, because I had thought all the classical styles of music is boring. I just wanted to go to the concert to get my credits and go home. However, contrasting with my former thought, I was amazed with the music of artist Pila. That was the reason why I could not wait to attend the second concert, which is perform by the artist from Thailand Ekschai Jearakul. The music that artist Jearakul played was different from artist Pila, but I had to admit that he is a talent artist. Both concerts has changed my thought about classical music.
