Dear Mu Pi Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated: My interest in joining Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. is to join a sisterhood that not only gives back to the community but also focuses on enriching and motivating young girls and women. As a former member of the Ivy Rose Club, the Chi Upsilon Omega chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. mentorship group for high school girls, I learned that the purpose of the sorority is to develop high moral and academic standards within underserved communities, to bring together college-educated women while continuing to maintain an interest in college, and to help reduce issues to improve the social status of women and, while still being of service to all human beings. I believe I would be a great asset to Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. because of my innovative nature and creativity. My innovation fuels my advocation for change …show more content…
maintain its premier status by allowing it to continue to inspire and challenge other Greek-lettered organizations. Through service, I gain knowledge about the pertinent issues that plague my community and am able to create solutions to address them. My endurance helps me do what is necessary to get the job done. I have a particular interest in increasing the social status of women by bridging the gender gap in fields that their underrepresented. This interest is influenced by my experience as an Ivy Rose Club, and because of it I became a Big Sister mentor in the Big Sister Little Sister program here at Spelman. As a mentor I have been guiding my freshman little sister in her journey through college, supporting and encouraging her to set high standards for her to achieve, much like Ivy Rose has done for me. My desire to mentor urges my desire in helping Mu Pi initiate the ASCEND program within the chapter, if possible. In addition to the tutoring and
While reading Pledged: The Secret Life of Sororities, I learned more about the inner workings of Greek Life. I learned that the odds of me finding a sorority are so slim due to my independent and different personality. While I am not good at sticking up for myself, something this book has made me feel is crucial to blend in and conform to an ideal to fit into a sorority, I am too opinionated. There are not many sororities (at least shown in Pledged) that welcome girls who are different, preferring to stay similar. For example, each pledge class would soon like identical within a few months of pledging. Another thing I learned about is the careful planning and manipulation that occurs throughout sororities,
I am writing to express my strong interest in being a member of Alpha Omicron chapter of Alpha Kappa Psi. I am currently a sophomore at Syracuse University, and will be graduating in 2020 with a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and a minor in Global Political Economy.
I am seeking membership in Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated to be a part of a sisterhood that leads and serves. I would love to join a sisterhood that serves the community, promotes academic achievement and builds self-esteem in students of all walks of life from primary to adulthood. In addition, I wish to expand my public service through educational development. As an educator, serving children and families through toy drives and youth mentorships would afford me countless opportunities to give back beyond the walls of my classroom, dance stage, and church. With my dedication, compassion, and creativity, I know I will work diligently to produce a strong impact on the sorority’s current programs and aid to create new

They teach professional skills and foster leadership qualities by promoting and advancing the welfare of humanity through service. Their members have over 750 community service hours combined. This year Phi Sigma Pi Celebrated 100 years of scholarship, leadership and giving back to the community. In the years to come Phi Sigma Pi hopes to grow and inspire more than just its members to be great, but the entire student
Women of Delta, especially the ladies of the Alpha Tau Chapter, excel excessively in everything they accomplish and partake in from what I have seen on Southern Universities campus and in the community. Their outstanding work ethics, academics success, social friendliness, dominating attitudes, and constant need to help others is just a few explanations why I would be honored to be a lovely member of ...
I am exceptionally grateful for this opportunity to possibly be a member of this very prestigious organization. Every day I work tremendously hard to be noticed by both other scholars and my teachers. Now that an opportunity has come, I am truly excited to demonstrate and live by the values of The National Junior Honors Society. I hope to further expose and show both my dedication and want to join arms with my community and my peers and I wish to continue to work with passion and fire to shape the world into a brighter place.
Day in and day out we hear about high school and college students wanting to pursue a sorority and/or a fraternity based on the stereotypes these organizations uphold, well I chose to differ. I told myself if I ever decided to become a member of a sorority it would be based solely on their ethical standards, history, and values they are founded upon. Alpha Kappa Alpha, Incorporated consists of ladies of distinction and exemplary character who excel in scholarship, leadership, and service, which are qualities I have chosen to uphold. From my perspective, I encourage myself to maintain a respectable appearance and reputation which doing so inspires me to embrace my self-concept; which helps me confidently excel academically and professionally as a “lady of distinction” and “exemplary character.” Most importantly, I continuously remain involved in community service, being involved allows me the opportunity to learn and understand the lives and circumstances of others by opening my mind, heart, and soul. Overall these qualities strengthen my passion to be a member of the prestigious Alp...
I believe the biggest skill that I possess that will maintain Alpha Kappa Alpha’s status is the desire to help. As a sorority that holds service at a high standard, I believe having that drive to help in
To me the purpose of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated is to promote sisterhood and unity, serve the community, and build lifelong bonds. Therefore, I am seeking membership in order to be a part of a sisterhood that
This essay is just a brief summary of why I desire to be an Alpha man and the contributions I will bring to Alpha Phi Alpha. As previously stated my fully expounded upon desires would greatly exceed the limits of this essay, so if I had K.I.S.S it into just three words, I would choose; learn, grow, and share. However, I am strong believer of deeds over words, so this essay will serve only as mental fodder and the main course will come in the form of my actions.
To be a woman of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. is to be resilient, poise, and gracious. To be a woman of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. is to be an inspiration to others through your actions. To be a woman of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. is to be of service to all mankind.
As the end of spring semester of my freshman year approached, I was overcome with both joy and relief knowing that soon I would be done with finals and, more importantly, I would soon be completing my slightly long and extremely dry initiation process and finally be allowed to called myself a sister of Sigma Delta Tau. Even though I was beyond excited to become a sister, I couldn’t help but feel weird about the entire situation. Up until the day I decided to rush, I never in a million years would’ve thought that I, of all people, would join a sorority. Even though I had come to terms with the fact that I was in fact meant to be a sorority girl, I was still unsure of how to tell my friends and family back home that I was a sister. In high school, I’d always
The purpose of this letter is to inform you about my interest in becoming a member of The Kappa Upsilon Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. I sought out membership because the members exemplify the epitome of class, grace, and standards. My desire is to inspire young girls and women and make a significant impact on their lives is just one of many reasons I aspire to join your great sorority. I believe in being of service, giving back to the community, and I want to continue on for years to come. Going into the transition into my college career from my freshman year until now, I have encountered many women in the organization that are very active on campus as well as in the community. My past experiences with my past and previous organizations have proved that once my feet are planted my roots will grow and I will stand firm in an organization or committee that I am apart of exemplifying my leadership skills. I am a dedicated member of the National Council of Negro Women. I am on the Bethune Committee, we focus on creating Health programs for the organization and the community. I am a Mentor with the Valdosta community organization G.O.L.F.E.R. (Generating Opportunities in Life for Each
When making a decision on where to attend college as a working adult with a family, I had to find a college that could accommodate my busy lifestyle. My husband, as a Marion Technical College (MTC) alum, suggested that I give MTC a try and see what they offered. Upon further research and a trip to campus, I quickly realized MTC was the perfect option for me with online classes, helpful staff, affordable tuition, and a convenient location. I started classes in Fall of 2013 and found many additional benefits after becoming a student. I was able to become a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success (NSLS) and am currently the President of the Beta Nu Pi chapter of Phi Theta Kappa. I am actively involved in promotions for Phi Theta
This fraternity has helped me to enter into the professional world of architecture by preparing me for job interviews, helping me to network, as well as, aiding with the building of my architecture portfolio. Also, this fraternity has given me various opportunities to volunteer in the local community. For example, one of the philanthropic activities that we organized was the building of a pergola for His House Children’s Shelter in Miami Gardens. The shelter was lacking aesthetic appeal and outdoor space for gathering; therefore, we built a pergola in a flower garden that would provide a covered, outdoor space for the children to gather and have meals or to socialize. It was a blast to get to engage with the children and show them that college is an attainable dream, while building a beautiful, functional structure—something I had never done before. The experiences I have had as a member of Alpha Rho Chi has validated my reason as to why I aspire to become an architect: architecture can change
