INTRODUCTION
To begin with, this paper aims to present a detailed discussion of the encounters and interactions of the staff at a local pub in Toronto and their relationship with the concepts that were crafted by Erving Goffman, particularly the Dramaturgical perspective. The recounts of the observations came from the personal investigation of the writer at the Village Idiot Pub that is located at the corner of Dundas and McCaul. Accordingly, excerpts on the field notes will be discussed with the use of the said sociological concept. Consequently, the detailed discussion will be presented in the succeeding paragraphs. I will be dissecting each of these and I shall be pointing out my own commentary on the following excerpts.

She took the order quickly without needing to write anything down. As my friends are ordering their food and drinks, I saw the same gentleman from the table across raising his hand in the same way as before. As the waitress turns around after taking our order, he looked at her and said an audible: “Hey”. This time the waitress noticed and made her way to his table. The message that was conveyed did not reach the receiver because of the convergence of different factors, including the loud atmosphere of the pub. This led him to utter a more expressive call to get the attention of the waitress. The urgency of the situation required him to act in such way, compared to the previous example where the patron only asked for a beer, which was relatively easier to postpone compared to asking for a bill and ready to leave
