The Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work’s research is driven by real-life problems and applies real problem solving skills to invoke positive change in today’s global society. With a long history of adapting to this ever-changing world, this school and program will give me the knowledge to make change happen. As a student, I want to grow my knowledge of best practices through research and the practical scenarios that the FIFSW will expose me to. The University of Toronto has a depth and breadth of talent and experience through its faculty, researchers, alumni, and current students which is unmatched by any other program across the country.

I am passionate about receiving the best education and learning as much as I can. I want to be a part of something big. The research being done at the FIFSW is helping to influence policy change across this country and is bringing new innovative standards to the social work practice and I believe I can help contribute with my hard-working, perseverant personality. I have been told that I approach each day with compassion and a desire to make a difference and that I am ready for the challenges that may come my way because I seem to understand that life is not easy, especially for people who need help. …show more content…

Looking at the elective course offerings for my second year studies makes me wish there were more than two available slots: learning about child and adolescent therapy, narrative therapy, addictions, cognitive behavioral therapy, clinical social work, and mindfulness therapy are only some of the courses I would be interested in
