Social networking is changing the world everyday. The time it takes for the average person to learn about an incident is lessened by more than ninety percent. People are meeting friends from college that they thought they would never meet again. Social media are connecting the world like nobody ever thought would be possible. Social networking sites is one of the main reasons for the rise of internet use . A large amount of people over the age of forty rarely touched a computer until social media became popular. As soon as Grandparents got on the computer , it was easier to keep in touch with their grandchildren more conveniently and keep up with their life. The social websites has been rewriting the way humans interact with one another ,but not all of it is for the best. Bullying has increased by over 100% in the last five years from social media . A person can just start out using it once a day. Then it becomes two to three times a day. Next thing they know they are checking it every fifteen minutes waiting for new posts to pop up.”Social media activity stimulates the pleasure centers in your brain” and which causes the addiction to start (Perov ). Social media is more addictive than many other drugs. In the article , it is mentioned how social media can trigger the neurotransmitters to a higher level than some of the most addictive drugs . Getting a like on your new Facebook post can feed an addiction more than a smoker going through a pack of cigarettes in a day. He states that the reason social media has such an high level of addictiveness is the dopamine production that goes on when the person sees all the like on their new post or their item that was shared by them.
