For instance, with social media sites such as Facebook, people is able to communicate with each other in many enhanced ways. This opens the opportunity for people to create social connections that, without social media, would not be possible. There is no need to wait until they see each other to share their thoughts and ideas. Another benefit of social media is the ability to reconnect with old friends and to make new relationships from all over the world. An example of this is the case of the famous couple Kelly Katrina Hildebrandt and her wife who happens to have the same name. They met each other as they typed their own names on Facebook. Being from different states, Texas and Florida, they formed a serious relationship and got married in 2008 (Marcus). As they say, everything is good in moderation; the same applies to social media. It is allowing us access to too much information and is decreasing our ability to function as a normal society. We are losing real life communication skills by forming online relationships through social media; however no amount of digital affection will ever replace real life physical attention. Anyone can hide behind social media projecting any image they wish and creating an illusion of their choosing, therefore social media may not always be accurate representations of the truth.
