Facebook stands as a simple way to connect not only on computers but also on smartphones and having discussions with people through the world. It is easy to understand that in this young generation, social networks are appealing. Most teenagers use Facebook as a source of entertainment but they consider that Facebook is a way to identify themselves through statuses and comments. Likes on their pictures, make them feel important and accepted by their friends. It is also shown that Facebook is extremely addictive to the youth. Children can spend more than three hours per day chatting in front of the screen, while they have to study. More students pass their time on the phone more they loose concentration. The fact is that teenagers are completely out of focus during class lessons because of extremely use of phone applications such as Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. Moreover, the time spent chatting on Facebook, is the time that they used to work in class. Through that behaviour the result is alarming. Even more alarming, the time spent on Facebook and other social networks make loose the ability to properly write in English. As teenagers pass most of their time on computers and phones, writing briefly messages; they forget how to employ correct grammar. Although it is known that social media can have a useful impact on lives, often times people forget that with a positive comes a negative. The continual use of social network sites will impact teen lives more negatively than positively because they can cause huge distractions from valuable and critical pursuits like education; they can also cause mental health issues and a reduction in communication skills.

I will admit that I love using social media because I can see what my friends are up to and keep up to date with today’s problems.
