My research paper is about smart drugs, how college students used them to get better grades. The pro and cons that this have and the consequences of abusing of these drugs. My thesis of my research paper is, what these students are doing to get focused, to study and memorize assignments when most of them have very short time. Maybe they use something else to perform better at school. Can it be “smart drugs?” Hurting themselves by using drugs, damaging there brain and body; but does smart drugs really make people smarter or make them dumber. I feel proud of my paper, because it was a topic that I had always want to know about. Before deciding of what was going to be about my paper I have some knowledge of smart drugs, but know I can said what
Adderall, “Smart Drug” is. On my paper I feel it needs some changes and edition and some light details that I will work on them. But I spend a lot of time on this assignment. One night I went to bed around 5:00am and the reason is that I don’t have that much time to spend on my homework. But I try to have all of them done on time. And the cause was that these paper need more time than the other ones. The library session helped me a little be. I put it in practice while I was working on my paper.
According to Benedict Carey, taking pills to enhance performance in academia is flourishing. Throughout his argument he talks about how individuals are using pills such as Adderall or Provigil to help boost one’s abilities. In his perspective he sees taking stimulants as a horrendous problem within the academic field. The problem with his argument is he is not staying open minded; he stayed in a complete narrow mindset weakening his argument against pills being taken to improve academic success.
In Margaret Talbot 's article about neuroenhancing drugs, she uses tone, appeals, and evidence from various sources. Talbot also utilized stories from past students that had used these drugs to enhance their academic performance, along with their work ethic, because they felt they needed an academic aid. Throughout this article, Talbot is trying to inform our society of the effects of neuroenhancing drugs, as well as get her point across about how she feels about this issue. She uses evidence from past college students that displays her opinion on the use of these drugs for nonmedicinal use. According to her writing, the use of these drugs is becoming more widespread than it should. In my analysis I will focus on how Talbot uses these strategies
Med-Pharmex Incorporated is known nationally and abroad as a pharmaceutical manufacturer of animal-related products. Before gaining fame worldwide, the business began its journey to success as a small lab in 1983, which slowly grew over time. Since then, the company maintains its main goal, and that is to produce drugs that promote the health of companion animals, such as dogs, cats, and horses, as well as food-producing animals, such as pork and chickens. To ensure legal responsibility, the company’s manufacturing process is examined by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Med-Pharmex works closely with veterinary clinics who purchase their life-saving drugs and represent them in the market. Despite manufacturing drugs, the
Poe's, The Cask of Amontillado is a story about fear and revenge. The story begins with Montressor's vow of revenge, foreshadowing future actions. "The thousand injuries of Fortunato I had borne as best I could; but when he ventured upon insult vowed revenge..." Montressor had to be sure not to raise suspicion of what he was going to do Fortunato. Montressor knew that Fortunato had a weakness that he could use towards his advantage.
A blockbuster drug is the one which generates more than $1 billion of revenue for the pharmaceutical company that sells it each year."In the pharmaceutical industry, a blockbuster drug is termed as the one that achieves acceptance by prescribing physicians as a therapeutic standard for, most commonly, a highly prevalent chronic (rather than acute) condition. 'Blockbuster’ drugs play a key role in the pharmaceutical industry. However, discovery and development alone are not enough to create a blockbuster; the firms must be able to market the drug aggressively to achieve the potential gains from their innovation. A report from URCH Publishing estimated that one third of the pharma market is accounted for by blockbuster drugs by value. Between 2000 and 2005 drugs with more than $1billion in sales accounted for 28 to 36% of global sales changes in the sales of these drugs can cause large changed in a firms profitability .There are arguments that while many firms are capable of discovering and developing new drugs, only a handful of firms are capable of successfully commercializing a breakthrough innovation. This commercialization capability is what creates a blockbuster: without this capability, even a major innovation would not reach blockbuster status For example: Cimetidine was the first drug to reach a $1 billion target thus making it a blockbuster drug.
The purpose of my paper is to prove that marijuana effects teens and their mind. Marijuana is a tobacco-like substance produced by drying the leaves, stems, flower tops of the Cannabis sativa (Indian Hemp) plant (Fact Sheet, 1). It is smoked or eaten to get hallucinated and receive pleasure. It grows just about anywhere. It is illegal in some countries but in others it is used for medical purposes (Encarta, 1). Some names that it is called a joint, nail, pot, Mary Jane, hive, etc. (Fact Sheet and Facts for teens, 1). Marijuana stays in the body for several days after one smoking session. In a chronic user marijuana can stay in the body for up to several weeks (Facts for Teens, 1).
The rise in cost of prescription drugs affects all sectors of the health care industry, including private insurers, public programs, and patients. Spending on prescription drugs continues to be an important health care concern, particularly in light of rising pharmaceutical costs and the aging population. Prescription drugs have grown to become an essential component of health care. For millions of Americans, prescription drugs are necessary to their health and ability to function in society. While prescriptions are a relatively small portion of overall health spending, they are a main reason for certain health spending trends, growing almost twice as fast all other health services in recent years. Prescription costs can be the costliest expense in your budget, especially if you are on a fixed income. The wealthy can easily afford their medications, but for an increasing population such as the elderly, choosing among purchasing medication, paying bills, or buying food is a real concern.
Prescription drug abuse has become a major epidemic across the globe, shattering and affecting many lives of young teenagers. Many people think that prescription drugs are safer and less addictive than “street drugs.” After all, these are drugs that moms, dads, and even kids brothers and sisters use. The dangers are not easily seen, but the future of our youth will soon be in severe danger if the problem is not addressed,it will continue to get worse if action is not taken soon. Prescription drugs are only supposed to be consumed by patients who have been examined and have a medical report by a professional, more and more teens are turning to the family’s medicine cabinet to “get high” but what they are actually doing is severely harming themselves, kids today are turning away from the street drugs and abusing the “prescribed” drugs that are that are at their very own home.
To support my argument, I will need to inform my readers about the positive effects of antidepressants and then discuss governments role and how they can benefit from antidepressant drugs. My audience are my classmates (from many different backgrounds and studying different majors) and my professors. Although there is a wide range of articles and research on this topic, I believe the general public is not fully aware on the positive effects of antidepressants. My goal is that after reading my paper, the person will have a better understanding on the effectiveness of antidepressant drugs. I will be creating a research paper to explain my research and arguments to my audience. The printed copy of my paper will allow my readers to read my findings at their own pace and it will provide them with the easiest way to find the sources that I used to conduct further
There are many serious health problems and diseases going on around the world right now. Several examples that we can give are: AIDS, HIVS, tuberculosis, and malaria. Many treatments are medicines were used to treat all these kinds of diseases, but then, many kinds of drug resistances slowly appeared.
I chose Drug use as my topic because since my early years as a child I can remember someone in my life always being addicted to drugs or using drugs. Because of this I have seen many of the trends of what drugs are out on the streets, in schools, and in our own homes. Having a child of my own I have made it a goal of mine, as many other have, to make sure my daughter know right from wrong and to say no! When I was in school they did not impliment drug awarness programs, talk to us much about drug use or even show us in our classes the war America is facing when it comes to drugs.
In the debate “College Students Should Be Allowed to Take Smart Drugs,” the tram in support of the measure clearly won. This team consists of Dr. Anjan Chatterjee and Nita Farahany. Farahany’s stance is that colleges should empower their students to weigh their options and make their own decisions. Her persuasive and passionate tone is to bring the audience to her view with only a touch of bluntness. The pathos she used consisted of provided fear to the audience of students not being able to choose for themselves and how where that could lead them. Farahany also uses pathos to point out the obvious fact that students already use this drug. Her logos argument uses polls of incoming freshmen which stated that taking smart drugs will enhance students across the board. Farahany’s teammate, Dr. Chatterjee’s argument that people have the right to choose, echoed hers. His tone came across as humorous, easy-going, and personable. He used logos, ethos, and pathos while speaking. Chatterjee’s logos argument included specific medical journals that did not show any added risk of
How is developing a civilization similar to developing a new medicine to cure a disease? They are similar in the way that they are both made up of “building blocks” and if put together well they are successful. Starting a civilization involves multiple steps. Developing a new medicine is a journey in which multiple actions need to be taken. Both civilizations and drug development have one thing in common, they both take very long to accomplish and there are many steps involved. In conclusion throughout this paper information supporting the similarities between drug development and starting a civilization will be given. Starting a civilization involves multiple steps. The first step in this process is finding a suitable place to live. A place
The use of drugs is a controversial topic in society today. In general, addicts show a direct link between taking drugs and suffering from their effects. People abuse drugs for a wide variety of reasons. In most cases, the use of drugs will serve a type of purpose or will give some kind of reward. These reasons for use will differ with different kinds of drugs. Various reasons for using the substance can be pain relief, depression, anxiety and weariness, acceptance into a peer group, religion, and much more. Although reasons for using may vary for each individual, it is known by all that consequences of the abuse do exist. It is only further down the line when the effects of using can be seen.
