Anything Can Happen
Singing to a live audience while being able to express yourself through personal experiences is an exuberant task. Many believe that being a professional vocalist is an undemanding job that will make you an abundant amount of money if you actually succeed. Although many people who are prominent in this industry have a great amount of money, they had to make many sacrifices and fulfill a numerous amount of responsibilities in order to get where the are now. Singers must always be prepared to give a live performance in which they must already be perfectly familiar with the songs and the choreography (¨Jobs & Responsibilities for Singers¨). As of now, touring is one of the number 1 sources of income for musicians so they must provide an exceptional performance to their audience. In addition, there are times where singers are forced to write some of their own music (¨Singer¨). It is a well known fact that if you write your own music, you will be guaranteed to make more money, but it will also be a source of

stress relief. One of the biggest sacrifices that artists in the industry must make is the amount of traveling they must do. There might be times where they want to just be with their family or by themselves, but all of that is stripped from them when they are either on the road or 100,000 miles away (¨Musician or Singer¨). Based off of the information provided, there are multiple upsides to being a professional vocalist, that are also contrasted with the downsides. Singing is a means of expressing your emotions not only for your own relief, but also to encourage and influence others.
It represents a heart filled action of one's experiences or what their desires are for their future. Furthermore, it is a way of consolation. Being able to pour out all of your pain and even happiness will also enhance your skills as a singer. Singing is something that is apart of you , and allows you to feel unique. People who refer to their talent as another limb on their body, instead of it being a hobby, use their talent to keep them on the right track and help others to see that here is a path that they can take to help themselves. Singing is an addiction to me, like gold was an addiction to King Miada, healthy and unhealthy. It is something that happens involuntarily, which is good, but it can sometimes land me in bad situations. Having a vocal gift means that you have a choice of either using it for better or
worse. The vocal production of musical tones has been on the earth for centuries though it isn't how today's singing is. Singing began as individualistic and improvisational imitations of nature. During this time meaningful and communicative sounds couldn't be established so they made due with what they could. Various evidence proves that the Mesopotamian culture was already official from 3500 B.C TO 500 B.C and that they had created professional music as well as liturgical music. The oldest notated music extant is the Sumerian Hymn to Creation, which is known to be made in 800 B.C. In the fourth century 3 ways of singing were made, syllabic (clergy and congregation), neumatic (several notes to a syllable, for choristers), and melismatic (florid, for soloists. The art of singing isn't a recent discovery; it has just been on the earth in different forms. (Koopman, John) An great example of someone who is prominent in this industry is the one and only Jazmine Sullivan. She has been dealing with music for a long time so that means that she has a great amount of advice to offer upcoming artists ("Interview: Jazmine Sullivan Talks New Album, Pressures Of Music Industry & Reality TV Influence." ). In her interview with You Know I Got Soul, Jazmine explains that,” You must be happy when you’re sad and that’s a lot.” This could help anyone who aspires to be a celebrity of any kind. Jazmine has the ability to express her emotions successfully through her lyrics and her songs in general (Bledsoe, Courtney). A recent example of this is with one of her latest songs Dumb. In this song she is determined to tell people about how she was cheated on and how she felt that her significant other belittled her intelligence by lying to her in the first place. More importantly, she is an influence to females who are going through rough situations in their relationships and how they can fix their situations ("Jazmine Sullivan Bares It All On New Album Reality Show, Reviewed."). In multiple some she goes through specific things that could harm your relationship and she sometimes inputs her opinion of how she wants to solve it. Jazmine Sullivan is one of the many inspiring artists who have a great influence on singers and the industry. Having a wonderful voice is not all that one must be equipped with to have a singing career. There are requirements that have to be met in your personal life, with your education, and with your character. Acquiring a degree in music will further educate singers ("Singers: Job Description & Career Requirements."). It will allow them to gain knowledge in singing and how to improve themselves as singers. Along with education, singers must have certain character qualities instilled within themselves to be successful (Greenwood, Beth.). Qualities like perseverance, determination, and self discipline will all increase the success rate of a vocalist's performance. Your singing level is also an essential key to obtain this career (Gilmore, James). If you don’t know the rules of singing, like sing from your diaphragm, then chances are you won’t reach your full potential. In this very world, there are multiple people who have an amazing voice, but don't have specific qualifications that a professional vocalist needs. Even as a high school student, there are steps that you can take now to ensure that your future career as a singer is guaranteed. Practicing will better your skills especially if you are able to practice with a professional ("Become a Professional Singer: Education and Career Roadmap"). According to U.S Bureau of Labor Statistics, professional vocalists sometimes offer their services to help singers and sometimes recruit them. Students at this age should be gaining the ear for music (Cuffman, George, Scott Eggert, Cynthia Folio, Colleen T. Ledeker, and Jane Pippart-Brown. ). Knowing how to identify notes or triads is a step towards becoming an expert. Pre-college theory classes should be a primary focus for singers because they are an opportunity to enhance your knowledge (Hynes, Tom.). Musicians who don’t take music theory tend to struggle more, especially those whose backgrounds are aural. Majority singers begin to use their craft at a young age so they must develop a familiarity with various techniques. When I achieve this this career, I plan to use my advantage to help influence other singers, and give back to my community. As a kid I was extremely shy and I absolutely hated to sing in front of people. My duty is going to be to assist kids in realizing that they have a talent and it is ok to share it. Family is an important factor in me becoming successful, and when I reach the top, they will be the first that I tend to repay. They will have the chance to live the lavish life and that means they won’t have a care in the world. Then I will provide for the community that has supported me since I was just a little girl. Support systems mean a lot and they would definitely be appreciative of my tremendous help. As a professional vocalist I will influence my fellow people and become a game changer to the music industry.
After reading the play “Songcatcher”, by Darby Fitzgerald, as well as looking at an interview done with Evie Mark, their stories revealed the same key concepts; the dilemmas they face while trying to revive Native American Music. Both of these men felt as if they needed to prove who they were to everyone around them. Making the journey to find the music from inside them a very personal one. The prime focuses in each are the struggles they face to revive the music passed down through their cultures history. They also show the persistence they have to “rekindle the fire” or the love music, within today’s younger Native generation. Both stories are inspirational to the identity crisis within these nations.

Music is a passion of mine, this comes with my love for performing on-stage. I play guitar in the School Ensemble and clarinet in the School Concert. I was also proud to be awarded a third place for reciting the Quran (in Arabic) at the Annual Qirath Competition 2014, which is indeed a vocal competition.
Ariana Grande is one talented singer. The girl has impressed everyone with her spot-on celebrity singing impersonations and has sung with some of the most talented singers still alive today. However, there's still a lot you don't know about this sassy celeb. Here are the top eight most common misconceptions believed about Ariana Grande.
Many people across the world are affected every day by the gift of music. To those of us who let it into our lives, we truly view it for what it is. Unfortunately, not everyone realizes how powerful it can be. For me singing was something that I was always good at; I never really took it to heart. I never understood when people would talk about how music had changed there lives; I just didn't see how a few notes put together could affect anyone so deeply. It wasn't until last April when our choir was chosen among a select few to perform at Carnegie Hall that I would understand the indubitable impact of music.
After learning how to talk, I found that singing was something I really enjoyed. Music has helped me to express myself. I have
The National Anthem protests surrounding the NFL have brought much separation between the players, league, and the fans. Instead of the sport being an opportunity for fans to get away from politics, players have brought politics right into the game. The protests are a way for players to show their feelings of social issues, but the National Anthem is not the right time to protest. The National Anthem is a piece of American History and a time to show respect to our nation’s colors. With the growing turmoil in today’s world these protests are showing selfishness in the players, breaking apart the bond between fans, but can help the players express their feelings on a national level.
I believe that all professional athletes should stand for the national anthem. They should be required to do this out of respect for the men and women who sacrifice everything in order to protect them.
What are some types of Rand B music that stands out in the world? In this essay I would be discussing three types of Rand B music; rhythm and blues, contemporary r and b, and r and b soul. Rhythm and blues regularly abbreviated as R&B, is a classification of popular African American music that started in the 1940s. Music can sooth the soul if one listens to different kinds of R&B music. In this essay, I would like to discuss the different categories of R&B music. There are many types of music in the world however, the one that stands out in everyone's brain is the sound of rhythm and blues. It has been around for a very long time. It has taught individuals interest around the globe. Rhythm and blues began in the late 1940s by slaves in the south which brought about new music, designed, and move styles.
Attending for the first time at an R&B concert was a great experience and I loved the music styles and stage presence. I went to witness the free improv ensemble in concert organized by the department of music at the music center concert hall, at Columbia College Chicago Music campus on Monday November 27, 2017. The name of the group that was performance was called Royal. The instruments that took part of it were drum set, one electric guitar, two singers, one rapper, electric piano, and acacia piano. Richard was the man on the piano.
this is not to say that I have much musical talent. I did perform in the choir in elementary school, and I played the flute for four years through middle school, but one day I came to a simple decision. When it comes to music, I am a much better enjoyer of it than a producer of it. When I am alone in the car, my sing-along-to-whatever-is-on-the-radio voice is fab-u-lous. However, as soon as any else climbs into the car with me my talent suddenly dwindles. My larynx doesn’t seem to appreciate an audience when it is trying to perform. Thus, my musical enjoyment stems directly from listening.
"'natural phrasing' and `from the heart' are prized attributes of song, singing that way requires rehearsal, preparation, and getting in touch with whatever it is inside singers and getting in touch with whatever it is inside singers that, by a neural kink or the grace of God, enables them to turn themselves into vessels of musical sound."
Popular music is any music since industrialization in the mid-1800’s and is preferred by the middle class. It covers many genres such as rock, country, R&B, hip-hop, and rap.
There are different types of singing and voices like Soprano,Alto,Tenor and base and many more. There are no genes about singing but some people have creativity for singing. For singing you can experience a lot from nature & nurture by practicing and singing in a choir. My talent for this essay is about singing and how it connects with nature and nurture. The singing voice is the root from which the opera has sprouted and grown...the form of the opera arises from the voice; it becomes physically perceptible in such shape as is dictated by the development of the voice...the history of opera becomes the history of the voice." (Lawrence)
In fifth grade my family moved to Huntsville, Alabama where I met my best friend Mary. To this day, even though we live far apart, we still remain close friends. Mary is an avid singer, she discovered her talent at the young age of eight years old. I decided to interview Mary to learn more about her fascinating journey singing. I started off asking Mary when she learned that she was capable of singing.
