Attending for the first time at an R&B concert was a great experience and I loved the music styles and stage presence. I went to witness the free improv ensemble in concert organized by the department of music at the music center concert hall, at Columbia College Chicago Music campus on Monday November 27, 2017. The name of the group that was performance was called Royal. The instruments that took part of it were drum set, one electric guitar, two singers, one rapper, electric piano, and acacia piano. Richard was the man on the piano. The person who was playing the drums was Chester and Allen was on bass. The one guitar player was Austin and one rapper Anthony. The name of the singer was Angela who was doing all of the talking for the band. …show more content…
Before I had attended this music class, I didn't realize the importance of the conductor. The conductor had to keep count of the beats of the music and if she messed up, it could probably throw off one of the musicians. One song that stood out from the concert that I can remember was “Damage” because they made this song after the tornado in Porter Rico. There was a great dynamic texture of all the instruments in this song that made me feel the pain. The second song that stood out was “Trust” because that was the group very first song that they wrote together. The mood can make you feel what Angela was singing because of the background beat. During the concert the pianist and drummer did a great job making the rhythm unforgettable. They actually show the high point of the performers, creativity. These performers tried to exploit their talents and I feel that they tried to make use of most of the important musical aspects.
The blend of pitch and rhythm combined in different forms and enjoyed through our ears. They must persevere through whatever the stage, the audience, and their surroundings give them and put on a good show. There was full coordination between the body movements and the music tempo ranging from fast to slow which worked perfectly to propagate the continuity of the show and consequently making it more exciting and enjoyable. By Listening to the music, there ensued a very sweet and interesting sound of the
Overall, I was very impressed by the concert and I feel that the rest of the audience was also impressed. The expectations for the members of the Chamber Orchestra are high and those were met, but I feel that the expectations for the choral group were not as high. My expectations for the choir were not very high and they were immensely exceeded. The level of talent in that group was something that I was really not expecting at all.
...ked throughout the concert. The pacing of the selections seemed appropriate. No piece sounded like the one before it. There was a great variety of songs played. There were songs played that were written by famous jazz composers and songs played that were written by some of the performers themselves. This added to the excitement of the show.
At one point, K Wing housed approximately 36 prisoners from the two main Manchester gangs, along with 20 to 30 inmates convicted of murder, and another 60 to 70 inmates serving time for violent offenses. And no one’s surprised,” Samworth explained. People who do not integrate with others include rapists and paedophiles. They are isolated for their protection. How Neil Samworth might have struck Mark Bridger Dealing with notable inmates during his time at HMP Manchester, Neil Samworth encountered individuals like Mark Bridger, who received a life sentence for the tragic murder of five-year-old April Jones in 2012.
One performance that stood out to me during the concert was a song called Sinfonia #3 by J. C. Bach (Wind Ensemble Concert program). The reason I enjoyed this song was because it was performed by nine saxophone players. I would say
The band played together in such harmony and joy, and they exchanged looks as if they're talking to each other and understood by looks. As it turns out the guest go the nigh George Gazone was the professor who taught the band members music. Garzone Played the Saxophone like no other, he’s solos were magical it was fascinating watching him and the admiration his student have for him. The music sounded beautiful, yet seems the band are not well prepared for the evening. There was a lot of improvisation and as if every band member wanted to show off his skills which was really good. Improvisation is an element of jazz I was looking for, also, there were a lot of call and response between the band members different ones at each piece they played.
The first band performance of the night was jazz band. The first song was “Alright, Okay, You Win” and I think it sounded great. I feel like I could’ve played out just a little more in the beginning because you can hear my notes but not too well. Jeremy’s solo sounded good and I think that my solo sounded good too. The next song was “Fly Me to the Moon.” I
The changes in rock and roll music reflected the mood of the population in the United States during the Vietnam War. Rock and roll, written as rock ‘n’ roll, music was fully born in the 1950’s and formed from electric blues and gospel music. Rock and roll is characterized by electric guitars, a strong rhythm and youth-orientated music. This music became popular because of the children of the decade. Parents called this type of music “noise.” While parents were listening to calm music, their children were listening to rock n roll.
As it turned out, Jeff knew someone who needed a band for an ROTC Halloween party to be held in the basement of a campus dorm. The band volunteered to take the gig. Even though they had only been playing together for a few months, they had assembled a play list of cover tunes and a demo tape. They played under the temporary name of Blackwood Convention (Bernstein, 4).
As the song progressed it reminded me of something that you would hear in a movie soundtrack. “New Point of View” was like “Down South” to me, they both had a classic jazz sound to them. This song ended the concert, and with that came an exceptional ending drum solo by Davis. I was amazed by how well he was able to keep the beat throughout his
The concert and the entire experience correlated to several themes in psychology. The concert related to sensation and the stimulation of a sense organ by an external physical stimulus, which in this case was sound. I was able to detect various octaves and intervals between two sound melodies. With the variety of instruments playing, the tone height and sound quality corresponded to diverse levels of pitch, which monotonically related to frequency. Tone chrome was vividly present in the percussion ensemble with the sound quality being shared by octave interval tones connecting to a musical helix, which helped me visualize a musical pitch during different pieces. Perception connected to the concert and the sensation. Perception works together to help people sort out the complex information available to them. The percussion instruments triggered a sensation and allowed me to appreciate the various instruments. When there is more than one instrument playing at once, it can som...
What are some types of Rand B music that stands out in the world? In this essay I would be discussing three types of Rand B music; rhythm and blues, contemporary r and b, and r and b soul. Rhythm and blues regularly abbreviated as R&B, is a classification of popular African American music that started in the 1940s. Music can sooth the soul if one listens to different kinds of R&B music. In this essay, I would like to discuss the different categories of R&B music. There are many types of music in the world however, the one that stands out in everyone's brain is the sound of rhythm and blues. It has been around for a very long time. It has taught individuals interest around the globe. Rhythm and blues began in the late 1940s by slaves in the south which brought about new music, designed, and move styles.
Jazz is a music genre that is very rich in culture which is why I decided to attend a Jazz concert. This was my first Jazz event I had ever been to. I went to see the band The Chairman and the Board. This was a blues swing band. Having been to other concerts, I was expecting something similar as far as atmosphere and crowd. I was proved very wrong as this concert defied all my expectations and was in a whole different field as far as life entertainment goes. The first thing I noticed right off the bat was the audience. The age range of this audience was mainly 40-70. I definitely felt like the odd man out when I was there. It did get me thinking though, why was this audience so much older? I looked into the era of when most of those people
My two favorite songs of the evening were played by the Mason Jazz Ensemble. The first song played was titled Harlem Airshaft by Duke Ellington. This song uses complex instrumentation to paint a picture of walking through Harlem at night. The song is able to convey the way that Duke Ellington say Harlem. The song feels both hectic and organized all while conveying the beauty of the city. Harlem Air Shaft, as is typical with many jazz songs, uses a combination of call and response to really showcase the different sounds of the instruments in the band as well as the abilities of the musicians. Because of the many different solos in this song, it was my favorite song from the night. My second favorite song that night was called Lush Life by Sarah Vaughan. For this song, the instruments took a back seat to entrancing vocals. The instrumentation was used to produce a beautiful smooth and almost enchanting atmosphere to lift the singer to captivate the audience with beautiful vocals. The vocals were smooth and bright and held the entire audience’s attention. The instruments used in these songs and the rest of the songs during the show were very typical of that of a big band. Each song had drums, piano, bass, and occasionally guitar. There was also the woodwinds and brass section composed of saxophones, clarinets, trombones and
In addition, the concert wasn’t what I thought was going to happen. I thought it was very smooth and soft music with only the trombones, saxophones and trumpets. In the contrary, it was really upbeat and had really good rhythm beats that I like in a song. However, there were a couple of songs that had slower tempo, which was hard to focus for me, but they still had a nice touch of melody. The concert presented pleasant and great music to my ears. I really enjoyed the music and thought that it was entertaining to see the different kinds of melody, tone, rhythm, and tempo that could be performed. Especially, seeing what different types of instruments can make what kind of high pitch tone and which one can make soft ones. The ensembles took the audience to a different kind of journey of music types such as the swing, Latin flavor, modern and classic type of music. This concert was a great opportunity for me to enjoy and admire Jazz music. I look forward to attending the next
