On March 3, 2016, I attended the Sac State Jazz Ensembles with guests Pleasant Grove High School Jazz Ensemble. This was my very first Jazz concert that I ever went. The collection of the showcase was by Mike Souliere the director. I expected to be a remarkable entertainment event with all the live jazz music. On this very concert many perform different kinds of music rhythm and melody, which was a nice sound each song the musicians plays.
The program began as possible that performers were ready as the audience applauded, which led the performers to play the first song “A Little Minor Booze.” I never knew jazz was this manifest music sound that all the instruments were playing and making an incredible sound. In addition, the concert wasn’t what I thought was going to happen. I thought it was very smooth and soft music with only the trombones, saxophones and trumpets. In the contrary, it was really upbeat and had really good rhythm beats that I like in a song. However, there were a couple of songs that had slower tempo, which was hard to focus for me, but they still had a nice touch of melody. The concert presented pleasant and great music to my ears. I really enjoyed the music and thought that it was entertaining to see the different kinds of melody, tone, rhythm, and tempo that could be performed. Especially, seeing what different types of instruments can make what kind of high pitch tone and which one can make soft ones. The ensembles took the audience to a different kind of journey of music types such as the swing, Latin flavor, modern and classic type of music. This concert was a great opportunity for me to enjoy and admire Jazz music. I look forward to attending the next
