In the play “Romeo and Juliet”, by William Shakespeare has two generations. The older generation: like most of the older people in Verona. And the younger generation; the younger people in Verona. In this play, both generations have some similarities and differences; the relationship between the two propels to the tragic end of Romeo and Juliet. Between the two generations there is mutuality or similarities between them. For example, both of the families hate each other. “As I hate hell, all Montagues and thee.”-Tybalt (1.1.68). This feud between the families has been going on for a long time and both like to hate each other. Another similarity is that both generations do not want trouble in the streets. “If ever disturb our streets again, your lives shall pay the forfeit of the peace.”-Prince (1.1.93-94). Both of them don’t want to be sentenced to death if they generate any violence in Verona streets ever again. These are similarities between the older and younger generation. …show more content…

For example, both generations visions of love are different. “Shall happily make thee there a joyful wife.”- Lady Capulet (3.5.116). Juliet’s parents think that she will be happy being married with Count Paris, but she doesn’t want to be with him. The older generations think what the teen generation want but the teens don’t want it. Another example of a difference is their reactions of Romeo’s banishment. “Do not say banishment.”-Romeo (3.3.14). “And turned that black word death to banishment.”-Friar (3.3.27). Romeo’s reaction of banishment is worse than anything, but the Friar thinks that it could get worse and think he is overreacting. Therefore, these are differences between the two
