Imagine a world where the young people had a voice, in American politics! Probably a scary thought to some adults. However, as society begins to change, what if young people around the age of 15 had a voice in our politics. Specifically, being the right to vote. The right to vote has been, in American history for years. From people being the opposite sex, to people of a different skin tone. The right to vote has always been an issue, of who can vote. The voting age in America is 18, but should it be changed to 15, for younger people is the question. In this case, I do believe it should. The voting age should be lowered, do to voting is an important right, it will promote political participation and there is no wrong vote.

Democracy is a government by the people. This means that when voting there is no wrong answer. History will be changed whether you vote for the right or wrong person. The first amendment gives us the freedom of expression. Voting is an expression and you can choose to vote for anyone you want. For year’s people could not vote probably because of the scare, of who they would vote. In the election of 1960, over 70 percent of African Americans voted for John F. Kennedy, which gave him the winning edge. This shows you how voting has power and can scare people to see a different group of people have that power. The point is, no one is told who to vote for or who can vote for in this country. Freedom of expression allows us to vote for whomever we want. This means younger people cannot be told they cannot vote because, of who they would vote for. Now, some people say that young people as old as 15 are not mature enough to vote. However, people as young as 15 have been learning about politics and the right to vote since kindergarten. In addition, high school is the place that they are developing, into young men and women so why not allow the right to vote as they
